  1. It felt like a well crafted horror story when I first heard. Then I saw the pictures and videos on TV and it dawned on me that this was really happening. I remember watching the news in a state of shock.

    1. Funny how everybody is recounting how they felt that day. Not one comment on the disasters that have happened in Nigeria: the Ikeja cantonement bombs that went off killing hundreds of people, the Nyanya bombing by BH to mention but a few. We are quick to accuse our leaders of not caring for us(which is true anyway) but we don’t care for ourselves either. Everybody remembers 9/11 because it’s America!

    3. Silly Anons, everyone remembers because it’s the anniversary of 9/11. The local bombings did not occur on the 11th of September. Get your heads outta each other’s butts.

    4. so my dear what is the anniversary of Ikeja bomb blast so we can remember then.
the silly anons point is that America care enough to consider that incident worthy of rememberance but in Nigeria immeidately it happens no one cares again.

even in the america, the dependents of the deceased would have been taken of by their social insurance system but in Nigeria most of the kids left behind will have their destinies truncated by these Ikeja blast and BH bombing yet no one remembers the incidents or teh victims.

sweet I dont consider his point silly I think it call for social awareness among us as a people. America has made teh world believe this is a big deal, while our own government has made the killings here appear like its okay or even normal so the world thinks its okay for BH to be killing in Nigeria.

Think well is it not the same terrorist attack? Have we not lost more lives in Nigeria than 9/11. Think twice my dear and stop being unreasonable

    1. Hahahahahahahahaa FABUlous Princess.

How could that that 'day in the whole school be as quiet as a graveyard'???

International media started relaying bits and pieces of information by 8:49 am which is 3pm in Nigeria. What time do secondary schools close again Ma????

Even that first news did not contain mention of a hijack because no body knew what actually happened, just that a plane crashed.
2001 very very few people had phones.
      Certainly not JS1 students.

So you and your fellow students at Isi Alangwa Day Secondary school had not closed by 3pm ba? You were all in school observing 'silence' for what even American media knew nothing about???? Ikwawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawa

When American media were still trying to piece bits and pieces together by 9pm???? Buahahahahhahahhahahahahahahah

Aunty FABUlous, I always look out for your FABUlous stories, you and your fellow FABUlous friend here that looks like a bird. Ikwawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawawa

    9. It's neither Osama nor Hussein. The US IS RESPONSIBLE for that whole thing. You can do a small research on it or check youtube for comments from living witnesses and firemen who were involved in the rescue.

  9. .... and yet majority of the nation is left in a state of oblivion, a well orchestrated attack on US soil by US bonafide citizens, and making Alqaeda take the fall, that absurd act got them the required vote they needed from the good ppl of America to go to war with the middle east! Selfish bastards lining their own pockets! Soldiers are fools!!!

  12. The day that america suffered the brunt of supporting terrorists, they trained osama all because they wanted him to inflict harm on Russia, years later he came back and repayed the favour.

  13. I remember that day like something else.....I had never heard of twin towers before when my cousin ran into the kitchen to tell me and my other cousins that the twin towers had just been attacked! she was hysteric and we could not understand it. incidentally we all had not heard of the twin towers before but we knew we should have heard about it so we could not ask her what she was on about.....two of us just looked on and mumbled something like haaaaaa, while my male cousin who likes to feel among tried to make some conversation with her about she just knew we all were not on her page. she too just carried her Karangba and left our space for us. she had to go to the next door to gist with correct people who knew what the world was talking about on that day before she found fulfillment.

To think the 3 of us in the kitchen on that day were undergraduates in 100levels makes me wonder what exactly we knew then because I later found out almost everybody knew about the twin towers of America. Or maybe they were all just forming like my male cousins too.

Nonetheless, It was a big deal for me for the next couple of days simply because everybody was talking about it and not necessarily because i felt the pain or the loss that the disaster would have cost. For me it was as good as another flood in benue or killings in India or ebola in south Africa. To my mind it was just a distant disaster. You feel some pity for the security issues and the loss of life but nothing personal like I saw a lot of people take it. Especially because I have always felt Nigerian just carry anything foreign on their head like their lives depended on it even when Oyinbo man thinks Africa is a country. To be honest I could not be bother like that, it was just like another bad news that one has been hearing since we were young, like Iran and Iraq war or bomb blast in Saudi Arabia.

I was to later found out that a sister in my church who had won american visa lottery a couple of years before worked in the building and only missed death because she was not feeling fine on that day. Only then did I feel the personally concerned.

Also I later joined the world in searching for Osama Bin Laden until we found him Lol!
By that time I had growm a little more and was now interested in world new and affairs and I am loving it till date.

My long epistle is to say that 9/11 is the state of my awareness global happenings apart from the Iran and Iraq war that lasted the whole of my childhood.

I watched it live! The worst mistake I ever made.
I was 33 weeks pregnant with my first child.
I was hysterical and cries for hours. My waters broke that night, they tried to keep the baby in, but 4 days later I had her at 34 weeks 2 days. she was such a tiny but beautiful baby. We stayed in ICU for 2 weeks.
My princess will be 17 years on the 15th of September. she is getting ready for university next year.
    I will never forget................
