Southern And Middle Belt Leaders Blast Buhari Over The Appointment Of Yusuf Magaji As New DSS DG

Southern and Middle Belt Leaders, on Thursday rejected the appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi, as the new Director-General of the Department of Security Service, DSS by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The group in a statement jointly signed by its leaders, Chief E.K Clark (South South) Chief Ayo Adebanjo (South West), Chief John Nwodo (South East) and Dr. Bitrus Pogu (Middle Belt), rejected the appointment of Magaji, saying the new DSS DG does not come near removed Acting DG, Matthew Seiyefa in terms of experience and qualifications.

The statement reads, “The outright disregard for the conditions precedent for a united Nigeria and an inclusive country which President Buhari has become well known for was taken to a new height this evening with the removal of the Acting DG of DSS, Mr. Matthew Seiyefa and replacement with Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi from Kano”.

“The I-don’t-care and in-your-face attitude of the President in restoring Nigeria security architecture to the provocative situation of having 16 out of 17 service chiefs from his corner of the country is a clear demonstration of the fact that Nigeria for General Muhammadu Buhari is no more than his section of Nigeria and the resources and the constitutionally mandatory votes from other sections of the country”.

“Since 1960, Nigeria has never had a leader more sectional, narrow, parochial ,and tribalistic like the current President who went on a global stage to divide Nigeria into “97 % and 5%”.

“We have looked critically at the profiles of the Acting DG, who was removed and the one Buhari just appointed and it is crystal clear that Bichi does not come with any experience close to that of Seiyefa.

“The only qualification for this appointment is therefore only the rabid nepotism of the President which has seen him always masking personal and sectional interest as “national interest.

“Besides, Bichi is an out-of-the -system man drafted by Mr Lawan Daura in the days of his nepotism rule at the DSS. The next six most senior persons in line of succession at the DSS after Seiyefa are from our findings are all southerners which may explain why the President picked a man who already retired from the DSS to lead because of ethnic affinity

“That the President went ahead to deep himself further into the cocoon of ethnic irredentism in making this insensitive appointment shows clearly that he does not care a hoot about the unity, cohesion and oneness of Nigeria

“We reject this appointment and we do not shy in telling Mr. President that he no longer pretends that the country is one under him.

“In the last few days, there have been fears coming from the international community about the dangers that would come the way of Nigeria if Mr. President returns for another term. With his latest action, we add that the country is not safe in the remainder of his first term.

“Lastly we ask, Mr President, Are we still one county?”

  2. My heart bleed with happenings like this. About three days ago I said here that Mr Buhari isn't a true democrat, he is an ethnic bigot. I mentioned his lopsided appointment so far having northern indigene and Muslim faithfuls making up to 95% but some children and unscrupulous element came up to spew thrash. Now it is glaring as another northern indigene has made up another appointment that is so sensitive.

I told you, all security chiefs and apparatus system of defence in this country is northernize and Islamize and you think I wasn't aware of what I am saying. It's too late to cry foul now, for the southern part has been conquered and enslaved.

Osibanjo made a good appointment but the cabals pressurized Mr Buhari to remove him. He is a Christian and from the Southern part so he wasn't fitted for the job says the northern constitution and permutation.

This man should be the oldest in ranking as to the reason he was appointed in acting capacity. Now he will be forcefully retired from service as to justified their appointment. Remember in the shortest time he acted, there were some reforms he carried out, even deployed many to other states that didn't go well with the cabals. He was forced to rescind the deployment in which he did and today he has been ousted. What a country!!!!

    1. I would have commented on Fayose post but I came to that post late and by the time I read comments, I saw you dragging me to comments on it, so I have to ignored it. I don't like people forcing words on me. I do my comment freely and if I had did as you have wanted, it may have been seen as because you wanted me to. Fayose surely has a case to answer for his activities in governance.

    2. You are a joker Mr man. So you saw nothing wrong when you were putting up comments by calling out Easah to comment on posts you wanted him to comment on? Were you not dragging and forcing him? But it is not the same for you when Fayose’s looting was mentioned. But remember that you were quick to comment on the EFCC and Fayose’s post. In fact, you supported him in that comment by saying that you feared for him.

    3. That wasn't the post dear, the post I commented on was Fayose sending memo to EFCC wheareas the one in contention is a different post. I can never support the crimes of Fayose or any politicians, what do I stand to gain from them? Lastly before I let you go, did you have anything to say and contribute on this post? Be sincere to your conscience if you have one.

  4. Presidential aspirant, Donald Duke has now bared his mind over the appointment…

PMB has just appointed Yusuf Magaji Bichi as substantive DG SSS. Against the clamour to broaden the heads of our nations security framework, PMB has proven himself an irredeemable irredentist. SAD!!!-- Donald Duke

If I was the one who made that statement above, I would have been branded a Biafran sentiment, but condemnation are coming up from all angles from responsible citizens. I have been vindicated on my stand against the bigotry nature of the leopard who can never change its spot.

    1. Donald Duke is not a bigoted and sentimental like you. How many times have you seen his comments about the president? Why is he busy commenting now at the time he has declared interest in the highest position? His comment is not supreme. Where has he been since the last three years? Anyway, you are full of the same kind of bigotry that you charge the president with. No two ways about it. Just accept it.

    3. First of all, I would prefer that positions in any sector in Nigeria are given to people of merit. We need technocrats, learned people to run the Nigerian system.
Secondly, was I happy that Lawal Daura got the DG SSS position? Capital NO. I don’t think he was befitting for such position going by his experience and past. Was I happy that he was removed? Oh YES!. Was I happy that Seiyefa got the position as the most senior in the unit? Yes! Did I think he was the best think to happen to the SSS? No. Am I happy that Mr Bichi, the new guy got the position? No. Does he have the qualification to run such a position? Yes, he has it more than Seiyefa. But should he have been given the position? No. I said no here, not because I think he is from Kano and Muslim as against a Bayelsan and Christian. For me, these qualities are not my benchmark for judgement. In fact, these people do not even care about that religious affiliation when they seek these positions. I, in my view prefer to have someone IN the system become the head of the place than to bring a retired person to occupy the position. This is my take.
I would be more concerned about the delivery of service and efficient running of the unit than the politics that people draw from it. I don’t support the president’s move on this. As I mentioned above, it is not because of the northern, Muslim, southern and Christian divide. It is about application of systemic rationality of position placing.
Having said that, this kind of position placing in the DSS is not new. And the reasons are self explanatory. Especially for security issues like this. For example, GEJ decided to use Ita Ekpeyong as DG SSS during his tenure as president. We all know what and what happened. It was during that time Marilyn Ogar was made SSS spokesperson. DSS was used under them to trample on people’s rights especially opposition figures. In fact, Marilyn Ogar got double promotion and contracts. It is the same thing that Buhari did with Lawal’s appointment. Although it is not the same as this new person but it has shades of it. This is not a justification for GEJ and Buhari’s appointments. I prefer merit, excellence. That is my take.
Yes, it is ‘Political Anonymous’ commenting now. I see that you want me to comment.

    5. Political anonymous permit me to ask you this one question, what do you think will happen to the Bayelsa man that was just removed from his role? Knowing that appointment hierarchical system of appointment has been boycotted. Don't you think the same way Magu the EFCC chairman has been on capacity since this government kick off should have been the way Buhari would have allowed Seiyefa to act on acting capacity knowing that they have just five months to leave. What do you think on this?

      Delete
    6. I’m not sure of what will happen to him. It is unpredictable for me. But my assumption is that he will still remain in the DSS as a senior director. The same position he was occupying before he was made acting DG of DSS. From what I read at the time he was appointed in acting capacity, he was close to retirement. I think retiring next year. The man will be well. I don’t even think he is taking it seriously like us. He was acting, not the substantive head.
I’m not really impressed with the appointment but I don’t doubt the experience and ability of Mr Bichi. He will do well too. Let’s see what happens.

    4. It is a bond of contention bro. It shows that the likes of Edwin Clark, in his old age still nurses and rears hypocrisy in him. Please tell me what in different in GEJ appointing Ita Ekpeyong and Buhari appointing Bichi or Lawal? Just give me one example that makes it different.
As for positions of security chiefs, I think I saw it recently where that political anonymous commentator argued with you on that. He gave names of southern and Christian security chiefs and you didn’t challenge him to that. I didn’t even know about them until he mentioned their names and positions. I think we southerners are just sometimes selective in our criticism of the president. These are exactly the same thing GEJ did. He appointed Azazi then they plot his death when he call PDP Terrorists. He appointed Ihejirieka and other southern Christians as heads of security positions. He appointed Ita Ekpeyong as DG DSS. Former Civil Defense head was also a Christian. None of us complained that time that it was about appointing Christians from the south. Like that anonymous always says, we shouldn’t let our sentiments cloud our judgement.

    6. Bro you are still getting it wrong. One question I want to ask you this minutes is, under GEJ was all the security chiefs and agencies from Southern Nigeria? Are they all Christians? I remember most are from South west and Northern Part. Even the IGP. Please tell me any of the security chiefs or national advisers that aren't a northerners let us see how many they are, then I will apologize. The political anonymous you mentioned didn't disputed the fact that they aren't northerners, rather he only corrected an impression that they aren't all Hausa Fulani but northerners. Or is Nupe and Kanuri he mentioned not northerners?

    3. 10:19 I put it to you that you lied. Browse the net you will see the recent comment made by Nigeria former minister of Buhari appointment that got UN appointment on Environment. I think Mrs Hassan. It is on record that she said few days ago, Nigeria got out of debt under GEJ through Ngozi Okonjo Iwella but are back now into more serious debts. What does that imply? This government have put us back into more debts. This is a comment made by a buharist and not from PDP.

Where did you get your news that Nigeria is one of the fast growing economy? The same Nigeria recorded as second poorest country that is almost taking over India to be the poorest. Didn't you read the global index rankkngs? Do you know how much Nigeria is indebted to China? I wish you know. All the borrowings from this government was has been achieved with it? Even the bailout fund didn't achieve the intentions as most States are still owing workers. So tell me what is growing in Nigeria.

    4. The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the research unit of The Economist Magazine and HSBC, a multinational banking and financial services company, stated that a second term for President Muhammadu Buhari would greatly stunt the economic development of the country, among other doomsday prophesies on the Nigerian nation.

    5. According to Amina Mohammed, a former Minister now Deputy Secretary-General of United Nations, President Buhari’s government has gotten Nigeria back in debt which former co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala got Nigeria out of.

She expressed her worries during an interactive session with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, on Tuesday September 11th. She lamented over the rising level of debt in Nigeria and the rest of Africa. According to her, the level of debt in Nigeria is worrisome, but it is happening all over Africa.

Amina Mohammed added that we all need to have a better conversation about a growing economy, because stability is needed, She said

    8. A quick note Teejay. ‘Political Anonymous’ here.

As a complete mediocre in the world of economics sand financial policy world, I don’t think the debt of a country is a determinant for its growth or regression. I always saw Mrs Amina Mohammed’s video and read her comments about the country’s increasing debt. But that has nothing to do with Nigeria’s growth. One could be in debt and be using the money borrowed to create mechanisms in clearing the debt and building a viable economy. My prayer is that, the debt we collect should be used for such. On the other hand, out foreign reserve has increased higher than before and the is impressive. Whether we like it or not. This same reserve was in real depletion some years back. This is important because it is the place where the country will run to for shock abosorbing particularly because of fear of global economic crisis in the nearest future as economists argue.
In the recent Forbe list on African economies, despite the problems in Nigeria, our country still topped other African economies while South Africa and Egypt cane second and third respectively. Yes, Forbe also mentioned about Nigeria’s growing economy just like the IMF did. The problem with Nigeria’s economic growth, usually, is that, it doesn’t reflect very much on the masses. That is a problem.
As for the anonymous claim above, I think it is very correct. I have also read that. And permit me to correct you on something, our government didn’t clear any foreign debt under GEJ. It was during Obasanjo’s term that Nkonjo Iweala and her team worked for the reduction of Paris fund and one other.
Yes, there is an increase in poverty rating but the economic dynamics of the wealthy in Nigeria is translated differently. Nigeria has a very weird system that is why thinks are unpredictable. As for whether Nigeria will have a stunted growth if Buhari wins, it is largely based on economic speculation. Economic predictions are not final but they are worth noting for fear of the unforeseen. The EIU said similar things in the past but it was proven wrong last year. I don’t think it is the only reason for our economic success. Example would be the case of South Africa under Jacob Zuma. When he succeeded his last vote of no confidence, there was sign of Economic breakdown through indices. Immediately Ramaphosa became president, the readings became strong. But it is few months since Ramaphosa got it, things are still getting bad. The economic indices which claimed it was going to be better especially because Ramaphosa is a businessman and would direct the country are not rallying with the reality on ground.
      I hope this makes sense.

This is nepotism at its height. Very unfortunate. It will never be well with those who fostered this man on this nation till they make restitution. This country is on reverse. The debt is crazy but they keep recovering spiritual money, crude is being sold, budget passed and in 3years buhari hasn't done ANYTHING that fly around for medical reasons.
