He was accompanied to the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja by Party Leaders from Lagos East, teeming supporters, family friends and well wishers who were keen on witnessing the anticipated moment.
He also used the occasion to pay a courtesy call on the National Legal Adviser of the party, Honourable Babatunde Ogala, whom he described as a very devoted and industrious legal practitioner and party stalwart.
Senator Ashafa who currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Land Transport used the occasion to thank everyone for their massive show of support and steadfastness over the years. He reaffirmed his belief in the power of the people as expressed through the ballot and urged them to maintain the same passion with which they voted him into office in 2015.
In his words, “I would like to urge you all to be responsive to this great power that you hold – the power of choice. To be able to choose is a power so great that the consequences of its use, or misuse, are always life-changing and defining. Year after year, since 2011, I have kept faith with you as your senator in the 7th and 8th sessions of the National Assembly. Through your contributions at our various townhall meetings and constituency outreaches, you have also kept faith by showing support and offering constructive criticisms which have helped to make me a better lawmaker and also make Lagos East a shining example of what it means to have a responsive senator.”
Senator Ashafa showered accolades on the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. He thanked them for living up to the democratic tenets that have defined their journey as progressives and enjoined all APC members living in Somolu, Bariga, Kosofe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ikorodu, Epe, Agboyi-Ketu, Eredo, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ijede, Imota, Ikorodu-North, Ikorodu-West, Ikosi-Isheri, Ikosi- Ejinrin and Lekki to emulate such tenets and turn out en masse at the primaries on September 26, 2018.

Good to know
ReplyDeleteThese people don't wanna retire.
ReplyDeleteYes Ashafa is right, the masses hold the power of choice...and they will use that power to vote him out...He had over stayed his welcome. Gbenga should tell us his achievements as a senator and why he wants to gain there permanently.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest in my opinion I think Ashafa has no business going to the SENATE again.
ReplyDeleteNigerians need to rise and challenge the status quo. why do these guys see political opportunity and want to die there? is it not greed!!!
Are we saying there is no other person in that constituency that can do something better or at least different from what Ashafa has being doing since.Let us learn and change let us go back to the days moral value had weight in Nigeria. when we will think of our neighbor at least while thinking of ourselves.
And don't tell me he is not a riff raff because he went to school, education transforms and should be all encompassing. If a man abuses privileges then he is not only illiterate in social sciences he is also wicked in humanity.
Let the next Constitution peg electoral public service to 2 terms in a particular office. I do not understand why they always want to die at the houses, if they have any other worthy assignments in life they will not want to die there. They claim they are rich and educated, they should leave public offices after two terms and go back to their business OR are they saying they care for Nigeria more than their businesses?
If I had a say in the matter it will be let nobody vote for him. If he is good he would have impact the next generation to take over his legacy, he will not hurd knowledge and continue to think if he is not there it will not be done.
What has brought us to where we are is that teh second generation became so self centred they forgot to prepare for the future, Nigerains should stop support anybody who has no visible vision for our tomorrow.
I like your long epistle. Nigerians will not comment on sections like this, let Stella bring yeyebrity gist that does not add value or Mother in law gist or silly decoding or boyfriend girlfriend matters now, you will see 200 comments.
