Satursday In House Gists - Unpaid Salaries And Excuses...

Let us do something different today by discussing something different -UNPAID SALARIES!!!

Some employees have been cheated out of their salaries by being advised to be patient and 'grow' with the organisations. Many have been deceived by such suggestions and months and years later are still yet to be paid.

Many of those employees end up owing for months with excuses that the company is just starting up.

Some owe for months and when its time to pay, trouble rears its head and the brouhaha makes you end up losing out......

Someone says.....
''I have a former boss that is owing me over 70 thousand naira since 2014. Funny enough, we have a cordial relationship. He even wanted me to go back to work with him but I stylishly refused. It's always one story or another whenever I bring up the matter with him''.

Share your experience if this ever happened to you and if you ever got paid.

  1. I haven't have the experience of my salary being owed maybe because I haven't worked in a high salary earning company or job before. God please bless me with a high salary earning job but not the one that will be owing me.

Please be reminded that batch 22 and 23 CTLOS deployed by February have not receive any payment. This message is a reminder to let you know that we have been working for over 7months without any payment. Please address this as soon as possible as many of us are finding it difficult to cater for our daily needs. Thanks for your understanding.

  2. The last job i did before venturing into business didn't pay me for the extra weeks i worked after turning in my resignation later which should have been half of my salary.

The accountant told me the MD told him to raise a check for us( a lot of people resigned in my department) and later told him to cancel it because he was angry that we collected all the Christmas Orishirishi and left in January. What an excuse?

Some of my colleagues went to make trouble and he paid them but i didn't bother.

    1. I just remembered another incident when i was working in a Real Estate firm and my boss told me that" for every client i bring to sponsor land she will give me 5% commission and a plot of land".It wasn't a written agreement but i believed her becos ive seen her pay agents & colleagues their commission and give them land as well.

When i stopped working with her someone i introduced to the company sponsored a land and she called me to tell me that she will give me mine when the guy makes full payment that he just made half payment as at the time of call and i said okay.

I was so happy and made a long list of what i will do with the money and was already imagining myself as a proud owner of land in Ibeju Lekki.Forwhere till date no show and my client finished paying since oo.Her anger was that i didn't resign properly before moving to another job.

This happened in 2013.Thank God i rose above that incident. That money would have arranged me wella then.

Ooops!!**resignation letter** i meant up there.

  3. The last place i worked the boss man owed us from August till December. The palful thing was that we were getting jobs and being paid. December came and he begged us to be patient that January once we resume he would pay us everything. We resumed January to an empty office. The securities said he came and moved everything. We went to his house in ikoyi that morning and the driver said he has relocated to America. He was owing over 20 stsff. People living as far as ikorodu abd come through ferry, akute. Family men and women. Some get to the office as early aa 5:30am.

  6. Before in my office we get paid as early as 23rd of the month without fail.
Since Buhari came into power and things became hard my boss now pays 30th or 31st. Alot of clients now owe us and it has made my boss in a foul mood that sometimes we may not receive salary till 4th or 7th of the next month. We are always paid though just that it comes late and the man is using it to punish us like it is our fault business is down.
We were all expecting salaries yesterday. No show

    1. I pray your boss find peace.
Sometimes its not easy for enterprenuers even when you see money coming in sometimes teh over head is so huge.

Although in my 15years as an employee no employer has owed me money before o but I remember that when I was working as a Lawyer in a small law firm it was my oga's wife that used to pay our salaries sometimes.

  7. Many employers find it so easy to owe workers. Employees will see money coming in but bosses will keep on saying that there's no money. My former boss loves changing cars. You need to see his wears, shoes and choice of perfumes. He owed me for two months, and I left. He paid for a month three months after my resignation. I saw him one day and I "carried my face" for him. You're owing me and expecting one yeye friendship. Who does that?
I saw one of my former colleagues in church and she told me that the man hasn't paid them since May.

  10. The last employment I had the deal was a certain salary with bonus at the end of every project...we were doing BILLION Naira jobs and we were a small company yet the greedy evil man never paid our bonuses.

He had a way of threatening people into silence just because he had jazz and could afford to drag court case for 10years.
If you take him to court over your money,he would rather bribe the judge with say 10million than pay the 50k he owes his workers or suppliers.

The name of the company is SYKES ENERGI PROJEKTS LIMITED.
if any one offers you employment there abeg avoid it except you want sorrow to be your companion.

You will just be hearing of the millions you will get and you will not see one kobe.
One thing I know is that God will purnish him and he will return to poverty as long as he continues using his workers and owing them.

Once he sees that you are no longer under his evil spell and no longer send him,he will look for one flimsy excuse to sack you...abeg matter plenty for this horrible bosses that don't like to pay what they owe jare😡😡

  11. I had an employer who owed my bonuses for over 8 projects that I did for him. He never paid and feels like nothing can happen to him because he has money and connections.

I got super mad one night,I stood on the open roof of my house stark naked and swore for him at 12ammidnight.
For as long as he refused to pay me my sweat he will return to poverty and become an object of Riddicle.

His children will not eat the fruits of their labour because its my sweat he used in sending them to all the private schools while I who did the work suffered.
Infact thinking back to how I suffered in that company I know that the company will fold and all his toil will go to waste for as long he owes me.

Even if it takes 20years I will find him collect what he owes me by fire by force.
Infact he is one of the reason I hustle alot now so that when I come for him, he will not be able to use money to intimidate me because I would be able to match him money for money.

    Jonny.E watch ur back.

  13. There's this company I worked for in Lagos. The woman likes to delay salary I guess that is her strategy to make people stay and not resign. When salary don't come as at when due one will start spending from the savings. The company makes money and can pay staff but this woman likes to owe
I resigned leaving my two months salaries behind.

  14. Story of my life
The first place I was ever going to work, the company was going through tough times, so you can imagine them owing me right from the very first month I started work, they paid only me end of the following month, following month was paid  other month too after which the man didn't pay again, imagine you spending almost 700 on transport, feeding nko yet nothing.I kept on enduring and when I couldn't take it any more I resigned the sixth month, the man is owing me 4 months salary or 3 months, can't remember again, yeye otunba wey no fit pay salary but can travel abroad.

My present place of work is another Story, ontop peanut guy man go pay you 6th,13th or even 20something of the following month, guy man go dey flex with money, remove money from account at will but yet your employees go dey struggle to come work. The gist Is,because the money doesn't come on time, it makes you to be in debt, you end up spending all your salary before the end of the month.
The work don tire me gan but wetin man go do. God provide a good job for me.

Sorry for any gbagaun was rushing to type.

  17. I have edited the comment maybe it will be enabled this time. Hmmmm.

This is my story. I was ranting here weeks ago about my boss owing us for over two months, now its three months and no salary I have stopped going to work. I submitted my resignation letter two weeks ago. I cannot keep borrowing transport money to go there. Some bosses are just too wicked, he knew I am a single mum, everything that happened to me, he is aware, yet he decide to punish us like this. Imagine he kept telling lies that he is working on our salaries, that they duped him. Meanwhile we heard from his driver that the reason he is broke is because he recently bought a house for his family in London and he even borrowed money from bank to add to it. So he is repaying the loan at our expense. I'm Just praying to get another job soon while I do menial jobs around to feed my children.

    1. My advise, never you let your employer know what you are going through. Even if they help you out of it, they will still talk about your ordeal in the presence of everyone.

  20. It happened to me when I worked with one woman that owns a restaurant. I was the employed as a kitchen assistant but was also doing nanny, washer woman, House help, cleaner, etc. Not that she didn't have all these people but they normally left safer one or two months then she will ask me to fill in for them until she employs another one. She will not employ till after three or more months and no increase in my salary or small gift for the extra work. The salary will even be paid in the middle of the new month. I left her when she started owing well. she was owing me for two months a at then, I was surviving on tips from customers. when I asked for my salary, she called me ungrateful, saying me that even relatives abandoned and she a stranger took me and gave me something to be feeding my children with, she said if not for her, I would have died like my husband, hunger would hav killed me. I cried so much that day as I packed my things. Till now, she did not pay me the two months salary. I just left her for God
