  2. The Purpose Of Life Is Not Happiness: It’s Usefulness
For the longest time, I believed that the only purpose of life is to be happy. Right? Why else go through all the pain and hardship? It’s to achieve happiness in some way. And I’m not the only person who believed that. In fact, if you look around you, most people are pursuing happiness in their lives. That’s why we collectively buy shit we don’t need, go to bed with people we don’t love, and try to work hard to get approval of people we don’t like. Why do we do these things?
People do everything to chase happiness.
You buy something, and you think that makes you happy. You hook up with people, and think that makes you happy. You get a well-paying job you don’t like, and think that makes you happy. You go on holiday, and you think that makes you happy.
But at the end of the day, you’re lying in your bed (alone or next to your spouse), and you think: “What’s next in this endless pursuit of happiness?". Well, I can tell you what’s next: You, chasing something random that you believe makes you Happy. It's all a faΓ§ade. A hoax. A story that’s been made up.
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

    3. You are forgetting two things
      1: to put copied.
2: to read and see if the rant make sense before you copy and paste.

      Delete
    4. You are absolutely right Gandalf...the purpose of life is when one is fulfilling his destiny on earth. By fulfilling your destiny you become 'useful' to your purpose here on earth. Your words are deep but not everyone will understand.

    5. You will not die. Anytime I miss my late neighbour, I do see her in my dreams. I saw her twice. The first time, she lied down and faced the opposite direction. She was sick in that dream and her children were playing around her. She even told her 1 year old baby not to disturb her.
Then the second time, she told me she doesn't like a school for her second daughter. After her talks, she went inside the room and I was still talking, I even challenged her for not replying me but she no send me at all. I don't know if their dad wants to change their school or not because he told the kids for summer break.

The third time I saw another dead was three nights ago. She was my mum's prayer partner when she was alive. In that dream, she sat beside my mum, I sat two seats away from her. What she did in that dream was to correct my dad's way of praying. My dad was praying amiss and she interrupted in the prayer and completed the prayer in the right way.

  17. Good morning bvs
My heart is heavy and I am very worried πŸ˜₯
My pregnant sister had complications one month into the pregnancy, and it was discovered that she has multiple fibroids. She was placed on treatment, but still had occasional stomach pains. On Monday, she started crying and was complaining of severe pain, she was rushed to the hospital and ended up spending 3 days there.
The doctor said the fibroids are growing, but the baby is growing too...and that after the baby gets to its 5th month, it would have outgrown the fibroids and the pains would stop.
I just need to hear your views or experiences....
Will the baby survive? Will she be fine?
    The pregnancy is 15weeks.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Just believe the word of God and your sister will be fine. People give birth with or without fibroid. keep saying positive words and all will be fine. It is well

      Delete
    2. Oh, I feel bad to read this! My girlfriend elder sister (she is also my friend) had a similar issue last year. Her pregnancy was already five months and we were all rejoicing for her.

Since she lives in Germany, we all thought the doctors hands will be on deck and they will do everything possible within their power and knowledge to help save the baby.
Anyways, she lost her pregnancy and I cried for her. That was her first pregnancy after so many years. She told me that she will not be trying again, she will just live her life and be happy and maybe in the nearest future, adopt a child. She is in her early forties.
I now believe a woman's age can play a very big role in the issue of pregnancy and fibroid.

May God protect your sister and her baby.

      Delete
    3. Ms A I don't this is a good time to share this ur story.

      Delete
    4. She would be fine. Keep your faith alive. The baby will conquer the fibroid because that's the image of God in there.

      Delete
    5. It is well with your sister. So many women have gone through this and came out strong. Just be positive. The baby will survive and she will be fine. The pain will only be for a while.

      Delete
    6. Mrs A this your input no follow at all.

      Delete
    7. Your Sister and her baby will be fine. I had fibroids and as the baby developed, so the fibroids grew too.
I prayed very hard because l was a first time mom. I bled quite often. Spent two weeks on bed rest in the hospital. My baby was seven pounds at birth. My friend didn’t understand why my stomach was still so big after my Son was born. She’s a Nurse too and placed both hands on my stomach and she screamed. After several months, the fibroids shrunk. The pregnancy hormones kind of make the fibroids grow. I had asked the Doctor if they could take it out but he told me they would not touch it during delivery because it will cause excessive bleeding. Your sister and her baby will be fine. If God did it for me, He will do it for you.

      Delete
    8. It is a good time my dear BVs!
life has taught me to always be prepared.

We all always wished to hear the good side of life and feel its not necessary to also share the bad side.

The human mind and body was made to be able to take both.

      Delete
    9. Yes, the doctor is absolutely right on this one.

Tell your sister to follow doctor's advice, eat and rest well and our baby will be born in due time.

*Please, in our bid to encourage others, please scrutinise what you want to share this and see if it is appropriate at that particular time. Let's not unknowingly push people to the brink, when all they want is someone to hold them back.

    10. My sis in-law had a similar issue. Coupled with the fibroids, she had pre eclempsia. Her matter was that serious and it was her first baby. Long story short, when her doctors saw that her bp & the fibroids were threatening the baby's life, they had to perform an emergency cs @ almost 7months but they left the fibroids to be removed at another time. She and baby are well. So let your sister not be afraid. As long as her doctors are constantly monitoring her and with God on her side, she and baby will be okay in the end.

      Delete
    11. Your sister will be fine. Thank God for you 09:25.

    13. Ms. A. You are wrong!!! You are so insensitive.

I’m pregnant with fibroids. Been admitted too. Iv been told by the gynecologists to drink at least 3-4 liters of water daily (no easy feat for me) to keep flushing out toxins emitted by the fibroids.

I’m carrying my baby to full term. That’s All I know. She should continue been monitored by her doctors and drink loads of water.

      Delete
    14. Also she should keep declaring positively over her baby. All is well. She will carry to full term and hopefully they will shrink while she’s breastfeeding!!

    16. You would be fine .
. I am 30, first pregnancy and had my first scan at 8 weeks, and three fibroids were discovered.

I have never had issues with my menstrual cycle, Infact, I bleed for less days.

My dr said it's not a big deal, my baby is fine, I would be referred to the OB, and continue management.

I would do other scans as pregnancy progresses.

Fibroids are peculiar to the black race, truth is most ladies have them growing, especially when conception doesn't occur.

I live in Canada, and I don't even think about it, I know my baby is fine, and I would carry to term.

At 15 weeks,as long as the baby still has a heart rate, chances of miscarriage is very low.

Be strong for her, Jesus got this.

  37. Poster of yesterday's chronicle, kindly resign. Just take your salary and tell them you need to travel for a while. Do not look back lest you turn into a pillar of salt. When you are in a toxic work environment, you wont even have a clear head to seek for other opportunities. Leave both the church and the workplace, those people are cheap manipulators!!
Often times, the truth about all you 'Best students in school' is that you fail to develop some skills that will help you navigate the real world. This is Nigeria my dear, back up your intelligence with sense and doggedness. Or else, you see that your 'best student' chant?? You will find yourself telling your children the same thing in 20years and they will be eyeing with anger you in return. We dey see those kain parents nau.... Don't be one of them!!

  39. IHN enquirer who got job in Lagos and doesnt want to come:
I pity you! You think the world will wait for you to be ready someday, abi?? Thats why when some of you see successful young ladies, you shout: Runs! Runs!! Runs!!! Like say e easy.... You dont know the sacrifices that come with being successful.
I know someone who came to lagos, and spent his first weeks sleeping under the bridge. Today he owns estates. There are many girls like you who finished NYSC with me, picking any job they could find and managing all they can. One even kept her bags in my parents BQ and was coming every weekend to change clothes, cos she was squatting and didnt want to inconvenience her host. Today, she lives in a lovely 2 bed in lekki and earns around 750k, monthly. I recently let out one of the rooms in my flat to two referred corpers earning 60k/70k and are determined not to go back home. And honestly it was their determination that convinced me to assist. They know that what they paid is waaaaay to little for what they are getting, but these are one of the many 'miracles' you encounter when you take positive steps in life - i have had my fair share of them. If you overthink this matter, you will regret not taking the chance.

In lagos, all you have to do is focus, plan and hang out in the right circles. If you must live in a face me i slap you where you pay monthly rent for a few months, until you gather salary enough to move out - better do that. If you will buy a small mattress and sleep on someone's floor for a while, do it. It is all part of the story but as long as you lack the right prespective, you will never see the positive side of things. Stop all this chicken-liver moves and take responsibility for your life and future. The same family you are staying safe with now, tommorow they will ask you to look at your mates achievements. There are many people (even in lagos) who will kill to have that offer. There are families who survive on 100k a month in Lagos, so why cant you adjust accordingly?
I feel sorry for you because this was how one of my friends was thinking, about 8 years ago. Gripped in fear and unecessary questions. Till today, she's still afraid to leave her father's house in her mid-30s. No job, functional business or even relationship. And of course, when parents are housing and feeding you; you remain a baby whose matter they interfere in - even to people who visit you. Is that life?? One excuse or another every year as to why it cant happen...... while the people who overlooked excuses and moved have grown and achieved milestones. Please, don't annoy me.

And if you like take Stella's advice and stay back. The same Stella came to Lagos and was hustling her journalism until she has landed in her husband's house in Germany, spending euros.

What most people dont understand is that the Pain, struggle, hustle, discomfort, insults, stress etc are all part of the link to your success story!! and one day;all those pains will actually make sense to you..

You can never make a change in life if you choose to remain in your comfort zone!!

Good morning Chikito and to all members of BVN..

My first salary was 25k and I grabbed it with both hands. My mom gave me 6 months rent and I left my house to my work city with my bucket, duvet and box of clothes. I never went back home except for visits. I have changed jobs 3 times, done MBA, moved to a better apartment before I got married. I left before Nysc. I worked my service to favour my job. See ehn 100k is very big for a starter. If you sit at home and start wondering how to share salary you have not even started earning, then the success you seek is very far from you. Abi you want 300k salary without experience? Your first five career years are basically for experience, choosing a career path and advancing your professional knowledge with certifications or masters. After then you will be the one to even select the kind of work you want to do cos offers would be pouring in. Just try to render help in every department as a starter so that you can know where u want to belong. Grab that offer with both hands please..

@RSQ my dear, make I talk my own? Plus faux jobs and unpaid salaries? The truth is that, when all of us start reaping what we sow, dont come and be using anger to underplay another person's achievement. Because when some of us have the chance to sow, we sleep on okada. If she likes she should turn down the job... na she sabi....

How many people start out getting a mouth watering job as their first? Have you asked the people there how they started? In my opinion, its even better you dont land a fantastic job too soon. Cos many of us cant handle that inflow and misuse it before our midlife. Or even make costly mistakes that cost us dearly, cos of too much confidence.
