The first phase was from August 13th 2018 to September 12th 2018, during which over 15, 000 children and pregnant women benefitted.
According to Princess Modupe Ozolua, "providing free medication such as Albendazole and Vitamin A to children and providing prenatal vitamins for pregnant women in rural communities is extremely critical due to high levels of poverty, limited access to clean drinking water and other health challenges associated with living in remote African communities. These supplements save lives! Empower 54 embarked on this initiative because of our dedication to improving lives of underprivileged people.
Our distribution of Albendazole, Vitamin A and prenatal vitamins supports the existing Government's Maternal and Child Health annual program in the country. This Empower 54 program is not restricted to only Edo State, we will be distributing to other Nigerian States too."
The Local Government Areas that benefitted during the first phase of distribution in Edo State are Owan West, Owan East, Etsako and Akoko-Edo Local Government Areas.
The second phase of distribution will be in conjunction with the next Edo State government's bi-annual Maternal and Child Health program.
We thank all our partners, Vitamin Angels, the Edo State Government, Edo State Ministry of Health, traditional rulers, local government council chairmen and council staff for making this first phase a huge success.
