The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Sen. Ita Enang, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
He said the President declined assent to the bill due to some issues.
One of the concerns of the President was the period fixed for primaries.
He said the schedule for primaries provided that it should not be earlier than 120 days and not later than 90 days to elections.
He further said the schedule would allow Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) only 9 days to collate list of candidates among others.

One of his concerns so what are the others? Or do they want to be releasing the concerns bit by bit? That bill has been with him for over a month now, so why coming up now with an excuse when it is time to sign? Why the silence all along? This country is full of one drama or the other. So boring and frustrating.
ReplyDeleteWhen I pointed out that you guys are more concerned about him rejecting it than querying the contents of the bill, you kept mute. Why have you not challenged that? What do you know is the content of the bill? Does it favour Nigerians or the senators you are suggesting to exercise their veto power (although you are yet to provide proof for your claim of constitutional presence of veto power on issues like this)? Why are you not questioning why the recent change to existing electoral bill? Why few weeks to the several political dramas happening? Sometimes, some Nigerians think they are critical and smart, but they are the ones easily played by our politicians.
DeleteYou are talking about one of the concerns mentioned above. Why didn’t you comment about whether it is a genuine concern or not. Go to the page where Stella copied the news to read more about it. The concerns are mentioned in other papers. See how you deny yourself with full information then jump here to rant. Na wa o.
Anonymous stop wasting your time on Teejay. He is a Biafran hence can't see any good in Buhari. He can never reason objectively when it comes to him. He'll only keep rambling upandan and whipping sentiments and of course you can tell that his major source of news are blogs feeding him sensational stories
Delete@Essah, stop the dog whistle: by virtue of your statement you fan the embers of division and hate instead of unity. Perhaps, you are paid to spin vitriol on blogs, yet, you can still decline given a higher consciousness and for your wellbeing. NMTA
DeleteHeeheehheheeh
ReplyDeleteWhat else do you expect from Mr clueless ? A man who believes that money recovered from Abachas loot should be shared to the "poorest Nigerians" ( another word for rigging money ), a decision that a good secondary school economics student will NOT take, rather invest same for more productivity. we know that you and APC people plan to rig 2019 election, which is why , you don't want to sign the bill, but GOD is bigger than you. keep borrowing money ooh, as the dumb president that you are. Your clueless e-rats too like eesah are here defending your clueless actions .
