Nigerian Teen Gunned Down In The US...

A 16-year-old boy playing basketball at a Brooklyn park was fatally shot in the head Friday, authorities said.

Timothy Oyebola lived in Jamaica, Queens and attended Brooklyn Ascend HS.

He was likely not the intended target, police said.

He was in the Chester Playground in Brownsville at 4 p.m. when he was gunned down.

“As they were playing, shots were fired into the park. The shots were fired quite a distance away — over 100 feet,” said NYPD Deputy Chief Michael Kemper.

The high-achieving academic teen and his sister came to the US from Lagos in 2013.

“My son was a calm, quiet, obedient child,” grieving dad David Oyebola told The Post.

“He’s intelligent. He loved sports and basketball. Very ambitious. He’s a boy who had a brighter future. He was constantly going for what he wanted to do in life. He wanted to become a doctor or an engineer.”

    1. So sad..if you live in NYC or even know abt Brooklyn, you would know that Brownsville is the wrong place to be especially when you're Black..it's a neighborhood that's filled with colored "low-lifes"..drug lords and co....that sure gets only negative attention from the cops
So generally, most "good" families there live in constant fear and when they can't afford to move..ensure that their kids have limited contact with the neighborhood.
      May God protect us all.

May his attacker be arrested and brought to book insha Allah.

  8. That area is full of angry youths and even with NYPD cars at street corners, one is still not assured of safety. I was really scared to venture out most evenings when I passed through there. Cant come and die in the Big Apple just like that. RIP boy and God comfort your family.

    1. I disagree! I live here and it’s much safer than naija! That area in New York is prone to crime. Upstate NY and suburbs are much quieter. It’s definitely not everywhere in America. We should just pray for Gods protection wherever we go. RIP young man. May the Good d lord comfort his family and friends.

    2. There is no safer place, madam America. America is not safer, take or or leave it. Gun Violence everywhere and everyday. People go there because their economy is better for now. Claiming a land that is not yours and shaming your own country because Nigeria is in a bad shape now. Unpatriotic Nigeria citizens, hisses!
