She watched the nurses hurry up and down, and they wouldn't tell her what was wrong with her husband, she wish they would just talk to her after all its her husband and she needs to know his fate.
Its so unbelievable what headache and high temperature can turn into, she had gotten home around 3pm, she still had about two other meetings to attend but she had cut them off because of her sick husband, and had gotten home to meet his unconscious body.
Angelina loved her husband and he knew that but she was a career woman and she still is, and he knew this and still married her, her work is a very demanding one, time taking and stressful, business trips, meetings, conference calls, and the likes, she was climbing up the cooperate ladder and she was doing that very fast, yes! Her husband is successful too, a pharmacist, less demanding work, he goes to work around 8 or 9am in the morning and returns home around 4 to 5pm in the evening.
She returns home to her husband frequently around 9pm to 10pm in the evening, no time to cook, to do house chores or to make love all night long like he likes it, but they always have saturdays and sundays to themselves, after house chores, washing, cooking and running errands, and that has never been enough for her husband and they still argued and argued and argued.
He asked her to quit her work, he said he would take care of her and even though she knew he would, she was addicted to work and no one could stop her, now she wished she had listened to him and resigned, maybe get another work, a less demanding one, he wanted to have children but she was not ready, even though she had no idea when she would be ready, she was a selfish dame, a self centred and she knew this.
As she watched the nurses move about, she had time to reflect on her past, he had made her happy and she had been ungrateful, she had taken her work more important than she had taken her marriage, he could have left her and married someone else or he could have decided to bring in another woman but he didn't, he hoped she could come to her senses soon but she didn't until it got her where she is today.
As the doctor walked towards her, her heart skipped a beat and she recalled the last conversation she had with her husband,
"Angelina, don't go to work today, I am sick, I need you here with me"
"Oh come on sweetheart, its just headache" she had replied
"And dizziness, I need to go to the hospital, but I can't drive like this" he had answered
"We have meetings with our international clients today, I will be back as soon as the meeting is over" she had said while putting on her coat
"You can't leave me like this"
"why are you trying to make a scene out of this" she had replied
"How can your work be more important than my health" he had shouted at her
"I will be back early" she had shouted back
"You are going nowhere" he had commanded
"Its not like you can stop me" she had replied and left, she wished she could take those words back
If her husband should survive this, she would quit her job and spend the rest of her life making up for it.
"How is my husband" she asked the doctor
"Why didn't you bring him earlier, you should have" the doctor replied
"It was just headache" she answered with a shaking voice
"I am sorry, we lost him" the doctor said, and that was all Angelina needed to faint.

This is heartbreaking! Regrets and more regrets. If she had known she would have driven him to the hospitalš¢.
ReplyDeleteI have a boss like this. Very irritating woman. Comes to work first and closes last. Worst is she has just one child who is not functioning well. But she will work her ass all day instead of letting her body to rest so that it can accomodate another child. She is fighting for her career ladder and forgetting that she is heading to menopause. Job will leave oneday and there will be no child to take care of her at her old age.
DeleteLesson: Couples need to be sensitive to each others needs and place each other as priority
ReplyDeletePS: Stella did not suggest all working class married women should resign from their jobs oooo...OYO
Lekwa aguru lekwa gi
Where are all those I can't take permission, my husband can't tell me what to do wives. Come and see your partner in wife. Most of you wpuld never listen to him as well. You would choose your job over your husband. Nonsense.
ReplyDeleteThis is sad story, I was hoping the man would survive
ReplyDeleteThis used to be me, work and work. No time for my self or loved ones.
I had to give my self brain.
Some ladies are just potatoes; skulls filled with potatoes.
ReplyDeleteI am a career woman
I am a feminist
I am an independent woman
Aha, you career pass Hilary Clinton, Okonjo Iwuala and a lot of other women who are in every sphere of human endeavor?
Mmmmmh, I don knack grammar for foolish women matta ooo
i would have still been a career woman and would have stayed home that day when he said he was ill..she was too extreme and self centered. there has to be proper work life balance and you must create time for loved ones if not regrets like this would definitely happen
ReplyDeleteDon't mind them. Career women are bad but our money is good to bail them out when their husbands show them oba
Deleteshe must be a feminist
ReplyDeleteAnd so?
DeleteIt's called balance but lazy women that are one life event from hunger will say career women are not good wives. That's why I don't donate for them. Go and work. I try to balance my job and side business with my family, and very soon i'll be doing only business. Giving birth or getting married is not an excuse to sit on your behind all day forming madam.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that someone always comes up with a stupid story when they want to attack women? Out of whose asscrack did this nonsense come out?
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I was just scrolling down hoping one person will have sense!!! Someone sat down and constructed this nonsense just to get women to feel guilty about having a career. This story is not only untrue, it is a concoction meant to stir up strife and demean women who want more. No more, no less...
DeleteAnd I am a man!!!
So I should quit my job because a man asked me to. God forbid. It is still the same man that will use that joblessness to insult u.
ReplyDeleteThe only crime up there is her not taking him to the hospital. But wait sef, before it got too serious, why couldn't he go to the hospital himself??
I don't see anything bad in what the woman did jare.
What you wrote is so insensitive! You 're nothing but trash, somebody just died!ššš
DeleteWhat if the headache started just during the night. People can go from being healthy to being totally drained of energy just within a short period of time.
DeleteShe should have taken him to the hospital and go to work late than ignoring his request totally. That is being wicked please.
Eka Joy what did you just say! And someone's son is about to make the greatest mistake of his life with you. Eka joy someone died here, so you would do same to your man? I can now see why people hate you, they have seen through you.
DeleteAnon 17:51 quit being emotional this is just a blog post it may even be a fictitious story see rant o...
DeleteThe dimwits bringing feminism into this, feminism has nothing to do with this write up. If you don't know what feminism is about then shut your ignorant faces
ReplyDeletePlease help me tell those ones up there.
DeleteCareer no career, I don't see love in this marriage
ReplyDeleteThis is not an issue of being a career woman, this is one woman who is self centered, egocentric and selfish all wrapped into one.
ReplyDeleteThe reverse could also be the case, some men are actually like this.
I wished the man tried to call someone, at least when he saw that the wife had left him for work, he could have called a friend, a colleague, neighbour...etc. Always have your phone handy and with at least #50 worth of airtime in case of emergencies.
I don't support any woman quitting her job because of marriage, NO. A woman should be able to make a balance between her Career and marriage, though. It is not easy but possible. The Couple in this story should have employed someone to live with them.
ReplyDeleteReally sad ... Lesson learnt...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry
ReplyDeleteI’m tired of stories that make all career women look selfish. It’s not about loving her career, the truth is that the lady is totally selfish and insensitive!! I beg carry all these stories and go joo. If it’s a man that is this insensitive people will say he was providing. Mscheeeew
ReplyDeleteGod bless. We the way they were even talking about him being a pharmacist as if it is not tasking too.. the story was deliberately written so the woman could be crucified ... and to justify women quitting their jobs so a man can feel comfortable... smh..
DeleteThe same men that will have the woman that she's a liability . God forbid I give up my life for someone else when I'm not Jesus. Is he a baby? HesH not feeling well and can't take a taxi to the hospital except his wife takes him? ImI sure he was trying to guilt trip her not knowing he will die at the end . Using his life as a bargaining chip.
ReplyDeleteA lot of dangerous women on SDK. Lord have mercy
Deletee go beta for u...stupid story
DeleteThe height!!!
DeleteBalance is key
ReplyDeleteOga, rest in peace, so if you did not marry Angelina, you cannot take care of yourself, and know when to check your self into hospital? Upon that you are a pharmacist. So Oga there are no uber or cab guys around. Okay, you don't have family, friends to call to take you down to the hospital. I would have told you to receive sense, but the doctor said you have died. Oya rest in peace okay.
ReplyDeleteMay his soul rest in peace.
