ReplyDeleteThere are two issues here. Male promiscuity/sexual carelessness and domestic violence and wife battery. Wife battery/DV is the more serious issue, especially when it’s being perpetrated by a supposed political figure who would at one point or the other vie for public posts and claim to better the country. Timaya in the first hand made a very daft statement to start with. I see peeps accusing him of being violent like Jim Iyke etc. Well, his response actually backs that up too. He might have as well said “I know I’m violent? That’s why I jejelly had kids without marrying or living with anyone unlike you hypocrite who is supposedly happily married but batters your wife. Go fix your attitude and home before talking down at me”. I actually dislike Timaya for other reasons but I’m sorry, on this one; I’m with him. I think it’s wrong to impregnate ladies all over the place especially in a society like Nigeria where being single or being a baby mama is looked down on and almost even stigmatized. In that case, ladies should then avoid him, don’t sleep with him, be on top of your game too and make sure he doesn’t turn you to baby mamas since you now know his views. And if you were looking to marry him, now you know; he ain’t interested in that. At the end of the day, domestic violence is a crime but impregnating and not marrying someone isn’t. ReplyDeleteTimaya’s statement comes from a position of selfishness and irresponsibility. All the successful marriages I know (including mine ) are not successful by luck . It involves selflessness, accountability, dedication and a lot of work. Some people don’t want to do that today. The work starts from taking the time to choose the right partner for the right reasons. The alternative is taking shortcuts, marrying people for selfish reasons, going into marriage with a sense of entitlement, expecting your marriage to run itself. Admittedly marriage is not for everyone just like not everyone can be rich or successful or content. You attract what you believe...life is that simple. There are happy marriages, many of them too. I saw it with my parents and grand parents and I’m in one.
