''Jeremiah Tayo, popularly and fondly called coach was a 500 level law student of Ahmadu Bello University. He died early hours of the morning today, August 15th, a few days to his final exams.
Coach was admitted into the ABU teaching Hospital Shikah on the 31st of July 2018. Even though he had a blood count as low as 12, he was never placed in the Emergency Ward.
He spent so many days in the hospital paying so many bills and being neglected.
His brother testified that even after giving the nurses and doctors test results, nothing was being done about it.
He spent his last 24hours without any medical attention whatsoever.
He was discharged wrongly by a 400level law student.
Hours where spent in the hospital literally begging the doctors to give a detailed report of what led to his death.
Negligence was admitted but under the guise of Gross Error.....A fanciful term for murder.
This isn't the first time a patient has been killed as a result of negligence on the part of this hospital.
Many times when a girl visits the sick bay, she is immediately treated with Scorn and contempt as long as her issues has anything to do with the abdomen. They have told people to take pregnancy tests instead of providing proper care.
Nurses in the sick bay ask patients to come with a friend because they won't spend the night awake with them.
It is nauseating the way patients are greater by the medical service of ABU Zaria. The nurses will sleep under nets and leave the patients fighting off mosquitoes.
So sad...Nigeria medical system is getting worse every day
ReplyDeleteone of the reason why I love university of Ilorin, their medical service is top notch, they will admit u and later refer u to their teaching hospital if the problem persist. some students don't even want to check in the school clinics cos of fear of being admitted
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 101%. I had my baby at UITH and I'm glad I did. Would have lost her if not for one Dr. Hammed. Each time I remember her, I pray for her. University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital is one of the best here. They are so organised and coordinated, you will wonder if this is Nigeria.
DeleteBetter by far
DeleteMy Alma mater👏👏👏👏
Most universities health centers are like this I remember my days in Delsu Abraka campus...thr nurses will abuse you on top the illness you came with. So heartless theses nurses I wonder if they read about Florence Nightingale
ReplyDeleteRIP Tayo.
ReplyDeleteNa wa.
The country is messed up. Imagine raising a child to get to this stage just to die like that. simply because the system does not care. No parent prays to even lose a pregnancy talk more of a grown up. I am tired of this country. Am really scared for the future of our kids, youth, our own future. What is the probability of survival for an average Nigerian kid. And as usual, nothing will be done. We have seen it online, maybe we will read about it tomorrow, afterwards, we move on, until the next story comes. 2019 election is not the solution. It is still the same set of rotten lots. I think we should all boycott this election, until we can have a candidate who can understand an average man's plight. RIP to the young man. That's a destiny extinguished like a flame of candle. May God give your family the fortitude to bear the loss IJN
ReplyDeleteWhat does this have to do with election? Until everyone accepts responsibility and play their own roles nothing will change. They said medical staff were negligent, you are here talking about elections. Oniranu! ewu !
DeleteRest in peace Tayo.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't lie. I have had siblings admitted there before. Don't think they have ever heard of Florence o my brother!
ReplyDeleteWhat are you saying??
DeleteMay God comfort his parents
ReplyDeleteLol.
ReplyDeleteThe State hospitals are hopeless, I can imagine how bad these ones are.
And why are those girls shinning teeth? RIP Jeremiah Tayo
ReplyDeleteChai! This is sad.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad, may his soul rest in peace
ReplyDeleteI had this same experience in 2011, I almost died but God saved me, I was not seeing well again and staggers when I walk. I kept on going to Wuse general Hospital they were giving me blood capsules meanwhile I needed a blood boost fast cus my blood level was so low that it cannot longer carry my body, my period seized. If not for my friend that kept on calling and later came to check on me when she saw how laboured my breathing was she said that she will take me home with her to see a nurse in her place. That same night during the night she and her roommate couldn't sleep cus ofmy breathing, they went to call the nurse that same night to put drip on me.then she wrote down some drugs and was administering them on me. After the drip my menses show immediately. The nurse said that the blood was too low for those blood capsules to have any effect.some of these medical personnel need orientation they simply don't know thier job. RIP to the young man I pray that God will give his family the fortitude to bear this great loss
ReplyDeleteWhich orientation?
DeleteAbi they need to immediately leave this profession and move to farming or carpentry.
If you know the amount of abject negligible and quarter boiled doctors in Nigerian hospitals, you will pray to die before you fall sick and go to a hospital here.
Farming? You want them to kill our crops?
DeleteRip tayo..
