Motherhood isn't easy at all but when you look at your kids, all the struggles, pains and sacrifices are forgotten.
I got married quite early (in my early 20s) and got pregnant quickly after my traditional marriage. I was a slayer (in my own little way) before and after marriage (yes, I've gotten my groove back gradually) .
I slayed throughout my preggy months but immediately I delivered I had to forfeit fixing nails extensions because of bathing my baby (me that fixes nails back to back). I decided to stop before I injure my child while bathing him. I adapted quickly and now I hardly fix nails unless on special occasions (I paint my natural nails though) .
Another aspect I "suffered " in my breastfeeding months is the church outfit part. You know how we like to dress in our gorgeous Ankara skirts and tops with gorgeous headgears? Chai!!! I couldn't wear all those my nice Ankara clothes and gowns , because of looking for who to unzip and zip my blouse in church was a problem for me. (I breastfeed all my kids exclusively for 6months) I resorted to simple elastic tops and skirts that I can easily pull up and breastfeed my baby . Thank GOD all are in the past now , they are grown to some extent (at least I can slay to church )LMAO . Shout out to all mothers, we are the real MVP and to all those waiting in line for their own miracle babies, may GOD answer your prayers soonest.... Amen
If you have a ''Motherhood changed me ''story, please send it in.....
Hmm that breastfeeding part in church ...I really suffered o, almost all my dresses had a zip at the back, I had to change the wardrobe completed coupled with the fact that I gained weight.
ReplyDeleteI now make sure I tie my hair or keep it short. Thank God I'm not those that wear big ear rings, even the small ones I wear my daughter always finds a way to grab them and try to pull them out.
I used to seat on the front row in church hahahhaha, now I'm at the back I even take care of other people's children hehehehe.
Even high heel shoes irritate me when my daughter is nervous and want to eat...eishhh
You can still slay in your Ankara tops and skirts, just put the zip in front
DeleteMotherhood rocks...amen to your prayers.
ReplyDeleteHmmm..... motherhood changes a lot. Used to love my heels but I can't do them for now.I will get my groves someday

ReplyDeleteI read a thread on C-section on Twitter yesterday and I am still freaking out.
God bless all mothers!
Motherhood change me.
ReplyDeleteI use to slay in heels. After birthing my first baby I believe I lost my balance on the delivery table. Cos if I wear heels am just like agwagwa. So it's flats and few times wedges.
A lot has changed true
It happened to me oh, but after some months I regained my balance. Chai!!, I thought I was alone in this oh. You can still wear heels super mom(maybe not the too high ones),high heels makes a lady look trendy... Hehe
DeleteI will try.
Deletekwkwakwakwakwa@I believe I lost my balance on the delivery table.
Deletethat zip part ehh,but u can sew ankara styles where your tailor will put a zip close to the boob for ease when breastfeeding.
ReplyDeleteI don't really understand , since I have birth 3years ago I can't seem to get my groove back. I don't fix my nails, eye's again .These are the things I couldn't live without before childbirth. I don't even see my self not to talk of buying things for me. It is about my child , my child. All I do is to rerock the gowns I had before child birth. I don't have a me time. Is it my phone that becomes his home when he is home.
ReplyDeletePlease try and recover(maybe not fully sha), it's a gradual process. Don't allow motherhood to make you old.

DeleteI had a stillbirth exactly one yr today. At mine months. I've bn desperately trying to conceive ever since...I know i shd be getn close to babies and all but ever since, I flee from kids. Especially wen I see those that would be in the same age with my baby. I'm still hurting soo much. Is this normal???
ReplyDeleteYeah. I miscarried at 11 weeks n I haven't fully recovered. I been trying to take in again. You'll be fine again . Cheers
Delete@anonymous 19.05, I also miscarried at 11 weeks. Worst pain I’ve ever had coupled with the fact that I almost bled to death. I have gradually recovered but I think about it from time to time. Unfortunately my partner is not with me to try again. It’s been a year now. I pray you conceive again soon.
DeleteMay God bless you all with the fruit of the womb and none shall miscarry again. Its a very horrible experience, i went through this and my inlaws were still frustrating me but JEHOVAH who does what no man can do has given me reasons to rejoice, praise and serve him forever.
DeleteOlorun ma fi igbagbe si. He will bless you guys because He said "none shall be barren in the land" and you will only remember this horrible experience to give thanks to God.
