Former President Jonathan Speaks On The State Of The Nation And Advises Nigerians..

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has enjoined Nigerians not to lose hope in the face of impunity, persecution and maladministration noting that “anything evil cannot last for long.”.

Jonathan stated this at the 2018 new yam festival of the Obi of Obinugwu and Chairman, Igbo Traditional Rulers Forum, Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya in Orlu Council Area of Imo State.

The former president urged Nigerians to appreciate and always endorse goodness and character above parochial momentary interests.

“We must appreciate goodness even when threatened with persecution because evil doesn’t last for long. A leader must be prepared to face a lot of challenges at some point in life, which is what leadership often entails,” he said.

  1. A true democrat and a father of peace. You have said it all. Tyranny actually have a lifespan. History and posterity won't forget how you preserved Nigeria democracy that is being desecrated today by criminals who deceptively came into powers under the guise of 'CHANGE' mantra. Little did we know we were about to be enslaved and conquered into chains.

In the history of Nigeria, no arm of government has shut another arm of its government but this present government has just done that by laying siege and locked up the legislature.

The same government on good records also have consistently flout its own law by disobeying court injunction setting a bad template for our democraric dividends. I can go on and on but truth is that the perpetrators of this jackbut system of tyrannical rule don't give a damn but you know what, history always have a better ending with people like this.

    2. Biafran supporting his own lol. You guys are all the same. Whether your Kinsman is the worst, clueless and most currupt president in the history of Nigeria as the one above, you'd still sing his praises and call him your hero. It is well with your begotery selves

    3. Lmao. Like you woke up this morning and thought that the best way to start your day is to type this long message with no meaning and muddled with some grammatical violence.
I like the way you addressed him as father of peavce and prΓ©server of democracy. I wish the same thing applies to his immediate family, his own wife who had no constitutional position but boastfully admits to owning the $15 millions held in several accounts. And the numerous properties in Abuja,Rivers and Bayelsa. I mean properties like billion Naira hotels. I won’t speak about GEJ and other criminals he worked with. I will leave it at that. Oh, you are expecting me to start mentioning names like Diezani, Olisa Metuh, and many others. It is so sad our hatred for one person blinds us of the criminality of the other just because they are on the opposite sides. In a society where people remember their history and hold hard to sanity, we would not be praising GEJ, Buhari and any of their likes in past and present government. Sadly, that is not the case with Nigerians. They are heedless and forgetful of their yesterday. Only today and now matters to them. You can continue praising GEJ, but know that he is one of the reasons why we are what and where we are. And you are complicit in it because you give them the accolades that they don’t deserve. This is a good for thought for you Uncle. You can decide to refute my premise of argument but I don’t care. Let wisdom guide us in our judgement. Shame on us. Good morning Stella.

    4. If only you know the corruption secretly going on under Buhari you will weep for this country. I won't drag this further but understand one thing here, Good luck didn't abuse the freedom of press just like your kinsman is doing today, sending military and DSS after people. Good luck never disobey court order not for once but here Buhari haven't kept one. Isn't that so shameful? The some of your president rides an expensive power bike while he was a student. I hope you know how much that bike cost or should I tell you? Do you know how much that have been spent on Buhari medical jamboree since the inception of this governmet? The money spent and still been spent on the parking lot of the presidential jet alone is worrisome, yet he wants to hold on to another term to keep milking the nation dry. A party that can hold a ceremonious party for Akpabio who you and I know the level of corruption on his name could be playing saying they are fighting corruption. So many to mention but I will stop here.

    5. Very wise anon. Anonymous 8:20. I keep saying Nigerians forget yesterday, don’t think about tomorrow. They only care about now. When they manage to remember the past, they have selective amnesia. We are yet to have a good leader, we haven’t had one since 1999.

    7. You know what Teejay, I have been trying to school you since the last two days but you are bent on throwing arguments here and there based on sentiments and emotions. Let me give you examples of wasteful government money under GEJ. He bought more presidential fleets to the few that we had. Was that necessary? No. It was him who took the number to 11. Talking about medical jamboree. Do you remember how Patience Jonathan almost died in Germany after she went for stomach tucking? Whose money was used to pay for that? Do you remember that our own presidential plane was used for kabukabu to go bring Joyce Banda, the former president of Malawi from and back to her country because Aunty Patience Jonathan had an international meeting of First Ladies? Talking about honouring corrupt politicians as you mentioned Akpabio. Interesting to see that you didn’t know about his corruption while he was a PDP member until he defected to APC. Do you remember how GEJ honoured and celebrated Ali Modu Sherif of Borno when he defected to PDP? The same man that was been mentioned here and there for Boko Haram sponsorship. You know how many millions of dollars which, through him, GEJ wasted by throwing it to the Chadian State? Do you remember how many service chiefs stole from monies meant to use in buying ammunition for soldiers to fight Boko Haram? You remember that? Where soldiers didn’t have bullets to fight those evil. Talking about rule of law. You remember how Amaechi was denied the position of chairman of governors forum after he won the election 19-16 against Jonah Jang? It was that time 16 was more than 19. You remember how GEJ and his wife used Frank Mbu, the commissioner of police in Rivers to humiliate and frustrate Amaechi in his state? You remember what was done to National Assembly members who defected to APC under GEJ’s government? When lawmakers were jumping over fences to enter the chambers? You remember how policemen were used to humiliate the five governors who defected from PDP to APC in Abuja where they blocked them from having their meetings? You remember how journalists were arrested in October and November 2014? Or the boy who exposed the DSS on Twitter over prison break in Abuja? Remember that arrest? You remember Ekitigate? What GEJ’s ministers did in Ekiti? Do you want me to continue mentioning uncountable crimes against Nigerians and Nigeria? GEJ was not a clean man. He should keep quiet. Because you hate Buhari, you don’t see anything wrong about GEJ. Buhari’s Government is not 100% honest. So was GEJ’s criminal era. Don’t come here and tell me about rule of law under Jona. Na lie.
Is it a crime for the president’s son to own a power bike? Please tell me how much it costs. Please tell me. The same brand the boy uses. Don’t forget that his mother was a millionaire before they came into power. The boy was studying in the UK before his father came into power.
Did Jona not distribute iPhones at his daughter’s wedding? How much did five of those phones cost? Not enough to buy a power bike?
O boy, abeg, don’t drag this with me. I’m a respecter of history. I remember my yesterday and it guides my today. Please stop being stubborn. Learn. Keep emotions and sentiments aside. Be humble and sincere to yourself. Help yourself please. I hope you don’t want to drag this with me. Enjoy your day.

    8. 12:22 I so much love your point of argument and criticism but understand me clearly, I never said Jonathan was a saint but his administration was devoid of some of the many problems we are having today. Remember, he is a man that said his political ambition doesn't worth the blood of any Nigerian and he kept to that declaration when he lost. Today the press is being intimidated and all that. Corruption is Nigeria trademark right from origin but life was bearable under Jonathan than what we have now. The fact that corruption hit his administration so for that as an elder statesman he shouldn't proffer solution or advice?

  3. So, this man up there, said all these things.... Wow!
One ofvthe most incompetent leader of our time.
Please, Mr. Ex president, your followers are like American liberals, they are full of negative energy, sentiments, hate, bile and can hardly see beyond their nose.

You that said stealing wasn't a crime, it was during your reign, many Nigerians took stealing and corruption to another higher level.

Please sir, enough of the too much talks.

  4. Jonathan is still hundred times better than Buhari, all the change he promised we have not seen any , he cant even sit one place to do the work he was elected for. Since he entered office prices of good and services has skyrocketed and he is still pushing to come back. The problem of this country started way back which the same Buhari contributed to.Jonathan is the only president I respect in this country

    2. Yar Adua took over a functioning government from Obj. Jona took over a functioning one. But he handed over a broken one. Wasted our reserves, much petroleum money but no savings. The country was already on the path of recession. Ask Ngozi Okonjo and Sanusi Lamido
