The former INEC boss said the country does not necessarily need a strong leader, adding that an incompetent leader who is strong will end up destroying institutions.
He made these points at the 58th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association in Abuja on Monday.
He recalled that a former president once said elections must be do-or-die, an incident he described as most unfortunate and warned that politicians must stop treating elections as a do-or-die affair.
From daily post
I don't understand what he meant by we don't necessary need a strong leader. Is it a crime if we have a strong and competent leader? Must it be sick leader we have? Is he indirectly saying we shouldn't take into cognizance the fitness and strength of people before choosing them as leaders?
ReplyDeleteIt is so laughable hearing 'Buharist' saying nobody is more capable to challenge Mr President in next election. Isn't it ridiculous to our collective reasoning, that in a country of over 180million people a man see himself as the only competent individual that is corrupt free.
Isn't Dakwambo the governor of Gombe State fit and qualified? What of Peter Obi of Anambra State? What of Donald Duke of Cross Rivers or Ngozi Okonjo? This are only but few to mention that can grow the economy if given the opportunity.
Teejay, this is what he means. Buhari is strong but incompetent. He is asking Nigerians not to make that mistake again. He didn't have to say it in black and white. But that's what is in his mind when he said that up there.
DeleteAre you for real? Was it the implication of the 800m walk?
