Acting President Osinbajo Scolds Preachers For Failure To Preach Against Corruption

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has berated gospel preachers for failing to lend support to the Federal Government’s anti-corruption war by failing to preach against the scourge.

Speaking at the 30th National Biennial Conference of the Students Christian Movement (SCM) of Nigeria holding in Enugu, Osinbajo noted preachers were preoccupied with preaching prosperity rather than righteousness.

“Very rarely do you hear our preachers talk about corruption from their pulpits. If a nation is not righteous nothing will help it.”

Osinbajo said that the problem with Nigeria was neither ethnicity nor religion but systemic corruption.

He said that corruption had been so entrenched in the country that if you dare challenge it, you will be in the minority........

  1. So true but he is also guilty as well. Being a pastor, he also has the mandate to preach and speak out on corruption too especially those politicians with corruption case they warmly received in their party.

    1. My priests for the past month have been talking about corruption, they have been asking us to live right even in our own little way, one even spoke about the ills that have been going on in far north and even provided evidence, and how the media doesn’t carry the news, they also preach repentance a lot so maybe the Vice President needs to change his church... wait isn’t he a pastor? Oga go and preach now

  3. Very rarely do you hear our preachers talk about the second coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. They don't preach repentance and holiness. Oh Christianity! What happened?

If you people preach Jesus the way you advertise your pastor and your church, the whole world would have repented.

  8. I've said it that the church is not doing enough. A civil servant brings millions of tithe and you just pray for the grace to bring more. A politician sows billions in seed and you clap. I visited a cousin's house some years back and saw a shelf for award. Out of curiosity I went closer to my surprise it was an award by the church given to the biggest annual donor, that was just it for me. People would literally indulge in more sins to get that award. Meanwhile my cousin and her husband are civil servants and they were not yet at the directorate cadre meanwhile they had won 3rd 2nd and 1st places in that order. So u see them striving to be more but at whose expense? What sort of competition is that when the bible says your left hand shouldn't know what your right hand is doing? I was chatting with a friend about some needs in our church and he said if this was pdp era pastor won't be so worried and we would have quietly gotten the money we were looking for. I pondered on that statement, when did the bank of heaven become dependent on the party in government. Pastors are not only not preaching against corruption, they are actimely aiding it.
