LATEST PHOTO OF LEAH |
As a “proof of life” amidst speculations on her fate, TheCable has exclusively obtained her latest picture as well as the audio of her plea to Buhari.
Leah, who was kidnapped in February, also appealed that her family members be assisted.
All the girls who were captured were subsequently released, except five who reportedly died in detention, but Sharibu was held back for “refusing to renounce her faith”.
The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a breakaway faction of Boko Haram, has kept her in captivity for seven months, sparking public outrage.
The federal government had said it was making efforts to secure her release.
Clad in hijab and seated alone on a mat Sharibu spoke with measured calmness.
She spoke in Hausa in a 35 seconds audio, reproduced here:
“I am Leah Sharibu, the girl that was abducted in GGSS Dapchi. I am calling on the government and people of goodwill to intervene to get me out of my current situation,” she said.
“I also plead to the members of the public to help my mother, my father, my younger brother and relatives. Kindly help me out of my predicament. I am begging you to treat me with compassion, I am calling on the government, particularly, the president to pity me and get me out of this serious situation. Thank you.”
Sources told TheCable that the audio as well as pictures were part of the proof of life requirement in a possible renewed negotiation efforts between the government and ISWAP members.
The release of Sharibu’s school mates on March 21, 2018 reportedly followed what sources said had to do with the intervention of IS in Iraq and Syria.
Insurgent leaders were said to have upbraided ISWAP for abducting Muslim schoolgirls.
Thereafter, the 110 Muslim schoolgirls were brought back under an elaborate ceremony that had the community cheering.
Lai Mohammed, minister of information, and Lawal Daura, the sacked director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), had said the release was part of a wider ceasefire talks with the insurgents.
Recently, the release of the girls sparked a controversy when the UN said a heavy ransom was paid but Mohammed insisted that no dime was given to the insurgents in exchange for the release of the girls.

Presidency Reacts -Dailypost
Reacting In a statement issued on Twitter, the President’s spokesman, Garba Shehu said that the security agencies were aware and were currently analyzing the message.
Garba said: “We are aware of the audio in circulation concerning the unfortunate situation of our daughter, Leah Sharibu. In dealing with terrorists, nothing is too trivial.“
The secret service is analyzing the voice. Our reaction will follow the outcome of the investigation. For President Buhari, nothing will be spared in bringing all our girls home. He will not rest until all of them are freed.”
*She looks so beautiful and Chubby..Hope she is not pregnant!!!
I thought i was the only who notice... Hope shes not pregnant o.. Cause he no hard dis insurgents o... Wondering y she has not been released.. Sometin is amiss..
ReplyDeleteI am just speechless right now
ReplyDeletelast last she don convert...
DeleteShe might be pregnant. May God punish them all. Stupid idiots. This government has failed in dealing with these terrorists. May God redeem this Nation. Everytime that I think or read about Leah, my heart breaks.
ReplyDeleteYou will get out of that place by God's grace.
ReplyDeleteDo you understand now that Christians lives don't count when it comes to security. The same government that swapped deal that got the famous terrorist Sokoto Kabiru freed that masterminded the Mandala Christmas eve bombing in Niger state where many Catholic faithful lost their lives, could not swap a deal or pay ransom for this little Christian girl to be out.
ReplyDeleteThose who killed Eunice the Evangelist were all set freed by sharia court because they assumed they killed for their religion and someone is out there telling me there is nothing wrong with living with a people that have shallow orientation and no respect of human lives.
I weep seriously for this nation the way religion and sectionalism has turned it to be. It's really saddening and devastating.
Don't be surprised that this innocent girl will be released few weeks to the 2019 general election. We now know how APC and that walking corpse and their goons operate, but we the Nigerian masses will not buy this your old trick. Leah Sharibu, GOD is with you, NO weapons fashioned against you will proper, my sister we serve the living GOD. I can assure you that GOD is going to hold any person or group of persons who are involved with your abduction accountable.
DeleteMy heart bleeds for this girl, this country knows how to break even the strongest spirit.
ReplyDeleteWhat are our religious leaders doing? Even if the government is failing us must we also fail ourselves? I'm yet to see any serious agitation from them over this issue.
If it's a Muslim girl that was abducted by a Christian body this country would have been set ablaze! If it was the daughter of any of the top pastor or whatever won't she had been released by now? Yet not only Leah but young girls keep getting abducted to their communities with ridiculous claims that they are now their wives!
You're in my prayers Leah and I pray that whatever traumatic event that has happened to you will not have any adverse effects on you. The Lord Almighty will continue to be your strength and as you did not deny Him, you will pull through.
Ralu M did you actually write this? How many times have they teargassed Obiageli Ezekwesili and others who protested for the girls to be released. What do you expect the religious leaders to do? Carry gun and head towards sambisa forest? Do you want them to protest and be arrested then charged with treasonable felony since all peaceful protest against the government are now being called treason.
DeleteWell, Christians ain't known for violence and agitation when it comes to religious matters.
DeleteTeejay what exactly are you saying? Does Oby Ezekwesili a religious leader or representing one?
DeleteI'm talking about CAN, I'm talking about the Anglican communion, the Catholic society what exactly have they done? If God forbid that the daughter of one of the bishops or any high ranking leader gets this Leah treatment will the problem linger till now?
No one seems to be talking about it or did you hear anything?
So spare me that sarcastic "Carry gun and head towards sambisa forest? " statement you wrote up there because what I wrote in no way suggested such 😑
Ralu M do you know in Plateau state protest was held by CAN and they were teargassed? Do you remember when the secretary of CAN was arrested? We all read how the presidency ridiculed CAN by calling them Can of worms by Lauretta Onochie and she wasn't cautioned by her principal. Can such be said to Islam and the person go scot free?
DeleteTeejay don't mind this Ralu character.criticizing without valid points..na for Christians body una dey get mouth..we cannot be violent like the Muslims and all i know is that prayers have been going up for her. it will end in praise
DeleteTeejay you still don't get it do you? We know the actions that will take place if Buhari is engaged in a close door meeting with one or two religious leaders don't you? I repeat that if she's the daughter of a prominent citizen, she would have been set free a long time ago.
DeleteBaby oku...please do try and get your opinion across without name calling ok? I think you will find it more productive.
This is too sad
ReplyDeleteNigeria will be a much better country if we stop playing politics with the lives of little girls and people in general. Isn't it obvious this abduction was planned by opposition politicians? Imagine they freed the Muslim girls and left this one there to continue whipping religious / ethnic sentiments plus hatred smh
ReplyDeleteWhat is this one saying? Are you supporting the Boko idiots?
DeleteIf your insinuation is anything to go with, then don't you think it would have served a better interest for this government to step in and prove their expertise in handling this. This is what we always hear from you people each time negative things happens, the opposition are called. The Russian bound ship intercepted days ago has also being accused to be sponsored by opposition. The same way the Fulani herdsmen that killed defenceless people are said to be sponsored by opposition. Maybe Miyelty Allah will someday be sponsored by opposition as well. Enough of all this nonsense of blame game. They should man up and face responsibilities facing them.
DeleteEesah please stop wasting your time with these people.. I read the story and couldn't help but shake my head.. Of course they know how gullible and bigoted Nigerians are; Nigerian youths are that lazy that they can't even think properly. An intelligent and sane person knows this is all political propaganda but na Stella blog we de, common sense ain't that common here.. SMH
DeleteYou are very stupid Eesah Eze ogu, very very stupid. Stella Biko post this my comment, I am very angry now 😑😏😐
DeleteEesah, this your comment is insensitive! An innocent girl is in captivity and you dare say this? Nobody deserves to be treated this way. If it were your sister that was abducted, will you say this?
DeleteEesah stupid idiot....always siding your religion even if the facts are so glaring...fool, which opposition? islam is not a religion of peace
DeleteAm suspecting this girl is pregnant.
ReplyDeleteI am moved to tears with her speech.
ReplyDeleteGod please bring her back safely.
Oh my God! No little child should go through what this little girl is going through. If it means paying ramson like they did with others, pls let the govt do.
ReplyDeleteWe christains in the peaceful areas should always make out time to pray for our brethren in the body of Christ who are in the hostile areas. They are being prosecuted daily all over the earth and is only grace that can keep their faith going.
This is really sad,May God continue to be with you Leah, So the government want to tell us that they cant release this girl or what, I really want to understand why she's still in captive
ReplyDeleteThe condition they gave was for she to renounce her faith and become a Muslim.
DeleteOh dear, this is heartbreaking. I thought they've released her oh
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm, this girl should just have faked denouncing and recite that their rubbish.
ReplyDeleteGod is an understanding and forgiving God, he will know its not from her heart.
When she is released she can even go for deliverance.
Is she not already wearing their clothe right now already and living amongst them.
Just my 2cents, religious fanatics stay off my commrnt
Same thing I would have done
DeleteThis one weak me o. Can Restart button be pressed on this country called Naija, just for 5 mins. Leah God will indicate you, fear not, he never abandons the faithful.
