Speaking on Tuesday in an interview with Hot FM (98.3), the ‘Johnny’ singer said there was no number one.
“I respect everybody, we all inspire each other in this industry… there is actually no number one because your top five artistes in Nigeria that are the biggest in Africa can shut down the exact same capacity.
“The same capacity Wizkid holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same capacity Davido holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same venues, we all shut it down.
“So there is no number one, and that is the truth but not everybody will agree to that, people will say Yemi shut up but that is the truth. Why don’t we go ask the promoters, the people who know the numbers?” She said.
Alade made emphasis on her tour which had a large turnout saying “I just concluded my 13-city European tour and the turnout was amazing.
“I have pretty much been touring for over three years, it’s a big privilege for me. For me now, I think it is beyond the music, I think people also come out for what I stand for, the fact that I stand for Africa unapologetically and originally as I can.
”What I have done with this kind of career that puts you in the limelight and keeps you vulnerable to everybody’s opinion, is I just have to make sure my opinion is paramount, it is number one.”
From Daily Post
Hmm, What do i know. That is her own opinion tho. Keep soaring higher
ReplyDeleteKeep dreaming with your razz music.
Delete"I'm looking for my Johnny...and other similar rubbish!
Ndo!
That your so called razz "I'm looking for my johnny" has the highest YouTube views from any African artist.
DeleteGoogle is your friend, her songs are doing amazingly well. So before you talk do your research well.
@Asa research or not, most Africans consume rubbish music no doubts
DeleteSomethings are better not said to the public hearing and analysis..... it'd only attract insults or misunderstanding lost in translation.
ReplyDeleteYen Yen Yen Yen!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSomething's just not it about her music to me but I wish her the best.🙌
DeleteChoice me tooooo
DeleteI must acknowledge she is good at what she does atleast going by the 'numbers' but I don't just feel her at all
Thats how one Tv host abi OAP compared her to Tiwa yesterday saying she sings better and ppl finished Yemi’s career on instablog loool. They both sing differently and there’s no need for comparison but if asked to pick i will pick Tiwa everyday!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteYemi's songs are so razz!
No finesse.
Truly from a professional singer point of view yemi sings better & deliver her songs Better than tiwa live on stage, just that tiwa has stronger pr & hype & connection more than her considering her US citizenship, family connection & clique.
DeleteDavid and Wizzy are ruling the game, theyre on top, no doubt, everyother person is beneath... like it or not, its their reign
ReplyDeleteNo dear, they're just louder.
DeleteWord!
DeleteRoseflower you said it all even tiwa
DeleteIt's a free world, free speech, she can boast of even being in same level with Rihanna, it's her mouth, her freedom.
ReplyDeleteYour comment will be visible after approval
Yemi you should have listened to that person who told you to shut up!🤦🏻♀️
ReplyDeleteShe wasn't being boastful. She was only stating facts. I like her. She's entertaining and likes to bond with the crowd.
ReplyDeleteYou mean she's twerktertaining?
DeleteShe's right now. She's on the same level with them internationally. Its only in Naija that Yemi is underrated bcos we hardly appreciate originality. But people outside Nigeria appreciate her a lot just the same way they appreciate OBO And wizzy
ReplyDelete@Yemi, Is it by number of music? Performances? Awards? wealth? baby mamas? etc. @Yemi fear God...... @Princess Tever.
ReplyDeleteI quite agree with her though! The girl is pulling weight in the African continent and also in Europe... Does she sings better than Tiwa? It's left for the listeners to decide.
ReplyDeleteDoes she makes a better live show than Tiwa? A big yes to that.
You are partial
DeleteIf you know music & entertainment you will know she is far better than tiwa on stage performance
Deleteverry true amacastel.
DeleteAfter the Oap was saying Tiwa shouts and you couldnt say don't talk about my colleague,be hailing yourself I like everyone's music. Next time learn to shut the person berating your colleague up.
ReplyDeleteDon't mind her!
DeleteHer songs lack content with meaningless lyrics. Just don't like her!
So is it OBO and Wizzy's songs that have content...mtcheeeew! os cof they are all on the same level bcos dey all sing crap...crap crap crap
DeleteGbam!!!
Delete@shooter, she doesn't know you
DeleteIt's ok
ReplyDeleteGuts!! Loff it.
ReplyDeleteBoasts? This caption🤦♀️
ReplyDeleteYemi has got lots of love outside Nigeria! She shuts down every single time. Why won’t she be confident in her craft? Apart from Flavour and a few others, who brings the type of energy Yemi Alade brings on stage(forget the wack lyrics)
And who says a female artiste dare not compare herself to her male colleagues? Niniola is another amazing singer who is underated.
Tiwa once complained about this same gender thing and Nigerians shut her up.
What I found totally irritating though is the OAP that interviewed Yemi totally trashing Tiwa and what she stands for.
You can hype a guest in your studio without bringing another artiste down rudely. How will she feel if Someone says her work was trashy and preferred Toolz or Toke’s?
Tiwa has an amazing voice, I remember way back when she would just sing....but unfortunately she bowed to the pressure in the Nigerian music scene. You have to do certain songs before most Nigerians can jam to your songs.
Iphie dearie my love, I like your brilliant analysis.
DeleteTiwa has a nice voice she can't defend on stage she shout mostly you will wondering is this the Same sonorous studio voice, I think tiwa has to work on her vocal strength on live performance.
DeleteI like Yemi's. Fine gal.
ReplyDeleteWas she not the one with Jennifer that American singer?
Yemi is actually a good singer, I remember when her first single came out, I was like wooow!!! But I think she had to step back and give the masses what they want, which is “noise” I like her sugar and spice song, and some others! But she can be annoying sometimes with some songs, other Africa countries adore her like dayummm!!! They relate well to her music, there is no comparison with her! Imagine a concert of her and niniola!! I would pay 💰 to watch both perform!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck hunty!
So Yomi is so pained that she had to say all these. Anyway FYI my best African music act still remains Davido, next maybe Tiwa & Sheyi shey,& I love 2baba's originality & style
ReplyDeleteAs far as African act is concern, yemi is the best, she is appreciated outside Nigeria like crazy!! I watched some of r shows in Europe and I realizes she's far worth more than she's rated here at home. I think oyibos saw African flavor in her music, unlike her counterparts.
ReplyDeleteShe and Flavor are our best African music exports
Your best you mean???
DeleteI think I can only sing just one of her somgs( Jonny), meaning am not familiar with her other songs. Her comparison of DVid & Wizzy depicts pride, complacency & patriotism of one's self. However, she's an entertainer like Dbanj.
ReplyDeleteAlara ni n gbe ara ga
ReplyDeleteWizlion rules nd others fellows, tho yemi is also good..but obo nd star bio are better.
ReplyDeleteI agree..Yemi works on her stage craft. That's where the money is. I won't be shocked if she makes more money than Tiwa, She is forever touring from one country to the other. I love Tiwa as well. They are different musicians. But Yemi has more value about her in my eyes. Tiwa does shout and go off key on stage.
