THE WILL
A somewhat influential man died in my area a few months ago, his will was read by his lawyer with an audio evidence attached and his widow is yet to recover from the shock.
You see, he lost his first wife and decided to give marriage another shot. He married this woman and in the euphoria of being newly married, he quickly changed his will and bequeathed everything he had to her excluding the children from his first marriage.
Life continued and she thought she had the man eating from the palm of her hands, but life will always spring surprises on us when we least expect it.
After so many years, his children from his second marriage had grown up and old age was taking its toll on him. He was always sick and his wife abandoned him, she was busy going for omugwo in her daughter's house and visiting her other children. For over six months, she stayed away and It was the last child from his first marriage who took it upon herself to care for him.
He later passed away at a very old age. She came back when the lawyer requested for the whole family to converge so as to read the man's will.
She didn't realise that there was any cause to be worried till the lawyer read the will and the only thing given to her was an undeveloped land in Ado-Ekiti.
This man had many houses and shops in strategic areas in Lagos. He had a premonition he was about to die and at the last minute, changed his mind and wrote a new will. This time he compensated his daughter who cared for him. He stated that the yearly proceeds from his properties should be shared among his children alone and a thanksgiving service should be conducted annually in his remembrance.
According to his testament, his wife was building a house and never let him in on it until an outsider was kind enough to tell him and when he confronted her, there was no denial and remorse shown.
He also said the house where he lived before he passed on should be evacuated, converted to a shop and leased out and the money made should be added to the proceeds to be shared yearly. At first, she refused to believe it was true and was saying the will had been manipulated till she listened to the audio version. She has refused to release the documents in her possession and they may be forced to get a court's injunction for her to forfeit the documents.

Guys is this even normal. Hubby and I haven’t spoken for 3 months actually bordering on 4.. he’s used to me apologizing and making things right. SHOCKING NEWS
When Boko Haram was still very active in carrying out their evil agendas. The killing of personnel was so high that in a week we get to receive the sad news of death of a soldier ( May their souls rest in perfect peace). We practically live in fear of losing loved ones.
On this particular day in the year 2014, I was making my hair when a woman came to break the news of the hairdresser's husband ( a soldier) who was serving in the North East demise. We ( few women where also waiting to make their hair) tried to ask the "newscaster" how she heard the news. She said she called her husband who was also serving in the NE and he told her.
Everywhere scattered and the hairdresser was wailing and crying. We kept on trying her husband's number but couldn't reach him. The barracks also tried in sending signal to the NE but there was no response. Everyone felt maybe he was truly dead because during this period death of soldiers where always burnt by the deadly BH group and Army will only declare them missing in action if they can't recognise them.
After about three months when the woman as accepted her faith of losing her husband and was been given relief materials by the barracks community. She was in the process of going to process her husband's benefit when Oga showed up. Eyewitnesses accounts said Oga just showed up on this Saturday morning smiling and looking happy.
The wife and their kids couldn't believe he was the one. The situation was later calmed and Oga said he did not die but couldn't reach his family because network operators disconnected the network in Borno and also he later misplaced his phone and he didn't know any phone number off head.
Some people might have fainted oh.....

That’s the funny thing, sometimes there are errors in this thing. That’s how I ordered a cake for my husband’s 40th. The same person had baked my son’s cake the previous month and it was soooo delicious but thankfully, after I ordered from her, I saw another design I really liked so I got a second person for that one... that was my saving grace cos what she delivered was an absolute mess...from the taste to the poorly finished job...

DeleteIt was interesting reading about the will. That's how my papa write im will and kukuma divested every thing to his daughters. His wife he gave nothing because she never took care of him. Ha. After the Will was read she refused to release documents. Share certificates land papers everything with her we could not get. We went to court. She said she no know where they are. Court battle lasted 5 years. No progress. My sisters left the country. Till today o. Nothing. ALL the shares gone down the drain.Someone else don build on all the land. There was no proof to show that any document was handed over to her. My advice is for the children to take it easy with the wife.Without the documents you can't do much. That is why sometimes when a parent dies, the first thing is to lock up the bedroom and secure documents. From the experience we had its wahala. It's 20 years now after papa died and all those things have gone down the drain. But we thank God who provided for us all. And the wife? Where is she today? I rest my case.
