Police Officers Filmed Assaulting Lawyer Who Demanded For His Salary Have Been Arrested..

The police officers captured on video assaulting a young lawyer said to be demanding his salary and posted on the Instagram have been arrested for unprofessional conduct....

The police officers seen in a video assaulting a young lawyer said to be demanding for his salary and posted on the Instagram with the caption “SARS officers assault young lawyer allegedly demanding for his salary in Lagos,” have been arrested.

The video had caught the attention of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi who constituted an investigation panel to look into the allegation.

According to a press release by the police, findings into the case revealed that the officers in the video are not SARS operatives as alleged but conventional policemen attached to Lion Building Police Station who were invited to the chambers of Olawore & Co of No 28/30 Macarty Street, Lagos Island by the managing partner, Barrister Oluyomi Olawore.

The said Barrister Oluyomi Olawore sent a distress call to the police through one of his junior partners, requesting that he be rescued from another junior partner by name Barrister Olakunle Kareem whom he alleged was about to use an unlawful force on him having disconnected the Firms’ CCTV cameras and locked up all doors leading into the firm and by so doing, held Barrister Olawore hostage inside his office.

It was based on the complaint that the DPO in charge of Lion Building dispatched policemen to the troubled chamber to bring the feuding lawyers over for interrogation. However, the Commissioner of Police, observed with dismay that the policemen sent to the scene were not at their professional best.

He has therefore ordered that the policemen who had been arrested, be tried on oath. They risk stiff punishments for their actions. The CP also directed that Divisional Police Officer in charge of Lion Building be queried for lack of supervision.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, SCID Panti Yaba has been directed to take over the investigation of the case and critically look into the matter concerning the two lawyers with the view to diligently prosecute both or anyone of them found wanting.

The CP advises employers/employees to learn how to settle internal squabbles amicably without resorting to self-help.

  1. The way Employers treat their employees is so dehumanising.

If you are in a position, try to do more good than harm.

A labourer is worthy of his wage.

  6. Why do employers find it difficult to pay salaries. Why employ people to work when you know you can't pay them? Government need to look into this bit then the government is even worse.

    1. They are beasts!
Less that the excreta of beasts.
Some employers even owe 2 months salary and are even bold enough to wake up in the morning.
      How?
Are you lot not begotten from the sperm of Satan.
I read one story today where an employer owed 4 months salary and was junketing from UK to Dubai on holidays. His employees sold his MIKANO generator, paid their wages and sent the balance to him.LMAOOO. It's like Nigeria employees are starting to get sense now. Unbelievable. I'm not saying this is right o, but since some employers want to behave like Jungle animals, some employees will teach them how it's done. Ozuos.

  10. There are always 2 sides to a story. I am an employer of Labour and I have had cases where staff abscond from work for 2 or more weeks only to reappear and demand for salary and entitlements.Besides, i have done some work for the form and i can testify that Mr Olawore NEVER owes ! Each supply we did over the past 15 years has been promptly paid ! Don't be so quick to judge..Did you not read where it was written that the said staff locked all entrances and disabled the security systems? What will you do in that situation? Physically fight the guy or jump through the window or pay the guy whatever blackmail money he was demanding?
