Woman Stabs Husband To Death In Self Defence!

Domestic Violence is getting out of hand these days!

Detectives attached to the homicide section of the Lagos State Police Criminal Investigative Department, CID, Panti, Yaba, have started investigating the alleged murder of one Akinbobola Dare by his wife, a school teacher, at their resident in Igbogbo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The 24-year-old mother-of-two, Abimbola Olamide, said she stabbed him in self-defence, after being pinned down by the deceased, who was notorious for always beating her.

Her words: “My husband was always beating me anytime we had an issue. I didn’t kill him intentionally. Yesterday, he pinned me down and started beating me again. I picked the knife to scare him, but I mistakenly stabbed him. I couldn’t have killed my husband intentionally.

“In the past, I used to run out of the house when being beaten. But today (yesterday), he locked everywhere to prevent me from escaping.

“My family had told me to divorce him, but I didn’t want to because he is the husband of my youth and we already have two children together.

“You can ask around; everyone knows he beats me always.”

A neighbour, who declined to reveal her name, said the fight between the couple was because she asked the husband, a 28-year-old mechanic, to give her N50 for her transportation to her school.

She added: “The suspect had suffered domestic violence in the hands of her husband before the unfortunate incident. When the beating was becoming too much, the parents of the woman told her to divorce the husband.

“The woman chose to stay with her husband because of the love she had for him and their two children.

“It is known on our street that the couple was always fighting and the husband is fond of beating her on the slightest provocation.”

Another resident, who gave his name as Adeolu, said: “In the past, whenever they were fighting the wife of the deceased used to run out of the house. But on this very fateful day, the deceased locked their doors to prevent her from escaping.

“We always intervened in their fight anytime they started. The deceased and his wife were both youths in their 20s. The incident is an unfortunate one.”

Policemen from Igbogbo Police Division have arrested the suspect, following the incident, while the remains of the husband had been deposited at Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary.

Confirming the incident the Lagos State spokesperson, SP Chike Oti, said the case has been transferred to CID, Panti, and that investigation is still ongoing.

  1. The killings happening in marriages and relationships now is getting out of hand.

A good lawyer can reduce her sentence from murder to man slaughter if her story is true

But if the other side have a good lawyer, they can also say its premeditated murder. Because they will ask her how she was able to get hold of a knife when she claimed she was pinned down by the man beating her.

This is hard. Please walk away people. Walk away. Don't stay for love once this beatings start. Don't stay for children. Now her kids would be tossed from one home to the other.

    1. Free her ke?, Biko sister I don't agree. She should have quietly left that marriage in peace, remember she has her family support? Her family asked her to divorce him, yet she stayed. And she's a teacher who can fend for her kids not that she's a jobless house wife

    2. Amanda it's easy for you to say she should have queitly left, though I don't subscribe to staying in an abusive marriage but my dear it's not easy.
I watched the video and I believe this woman, the devil just did over time in her household.
Woman let's learn to walk away, I know it's not easy but please walk away or seek help, forget what the society will say, look at this woman now, she did it mistakenly in self defense but no one will believe her, it will only take God and a good lawyer to bring her out of this.
      RIP to the dead.

Men that abuse their wives manipulate them emotionally and can beg, cry, roll on the floor for Africa!...

    6. They should free osiso, she did it in self defense. Its high time men too should take note that they cannot be battering their wives and go Scot free as usual.. Women should defend themselves too. The men too can walk out of the marriage instead of taking out their frustration and poverty on their poor wives..
      Rip young man.

    7. @ madam B, we are saying the same thing now.
@queen and Amy, God forbid, but if my husband starts beating me, I'll pack my bags and children and run to my mother oh, I know some stay because of what family and society will say but this woman has her family's support yet she still stayed, anyways I wish her well

    8. If he were your brother, would you maintain the same stance?
      Such insensitive statement

      Delete
    9. Most peoples’ brothers do not constantly batter their wives or lock all doors so that no one can come in to rescue her while he’s beating her. Kwikwi, does that shed more light fir you? How can anyone even try to defend this guy?! Look, if your brother is presently beating his wife on a regular, you better seriously advice him or seek help for him before he either kills her or she kills him. Or were you wishing it was the husband that killed the wife? So you can continue blaming her saying she should have moved out. Either way, you would still blame the victim. Knowing fully well how our society treats women out there. A lot of women in her shoes are still staying because of this, some say they would rather have one man abuse them in a marriage than get exposed to several men outside of the marriage. The abuse also continues with other women, sometimes even parents etc. they suffer physical, mental, emotional and societal abuse as a result. It’s even worse when they have children who could also get abused outside. Or who told you her parents’ environment is safe for the children too? So it isn’t as easy for everyone to just pack out of a marriage in our society. Instead the men should be strongly discouraged from battering their wives with different measures and I guess what just happened here could serve as one. Because the woman will walk free. Enough of the suffering abeg!

  3. Some men are wicked!
They will lock the doors and be beating their wives blue black

What if he was the one that beat her to death?
If their neighbour's can confirm that he's known for beating his wife all the time then I think the woman did right.

Self defense is all I see here

They say they usually go there to intervene but he locked all the doors this time around to beat her. What if she was the one who was beaten to death? Let them free this woman abeg!

    5. I hope we all know even if she says self defense, she's not walking. Understand the law. I think her charges will just drop from murder to manslaughter. She can't walk free. Because at the end of the day, someone was killed. Someone died. Also, the way she got hold of a knife will be argued seeing she said she was pinned down.

I pray she has a good lawyer, because with a charge and bail lawyer, they will argue premeditated murder

  9. When they ask women and men to leave their abusers they’d tell you “what about the kids, marriage is about praying and fasting”.
Now father is dead and mother might rot in jail because the Nigerian judicial system is crap. I pray she gets a good lawyer to defend her but this could have been avoided if she had just walked away.

Divorce won’t kill you, yes you it won’t kill you. Stay single and be happy but no you want to be a Mrs. even when you’re miserable.

Water runs dry. The money in the bank can finish. You need to deepen your source so that it always produces. That’s the key. My girlfriend thinks we should get married just because I have 10 million in the bank. That’s not enough! My base has to be solid to a comfortable extent before taking that plunge. I hate the discomfort that comes with lacking money. It’s such a nightmare and these women are the first to throw tantrums when money issues set in. Their desire for marriage is overwhelming. As a man you should stand your ground and don’t be swayed.

yesterday's chronicle poster you noticed your wife's demonic behaviour but you overlooked it because you don't want to have a child out of wedlock, you deserve the pepper she is giving you now. carry your cross.

Imagine locking the house just to beat a woman(his wife), it could've been the woman in his position if she didn't act.
My only worry for her is our judiciary system, I hope they favour her.

The man is simply wicked, testimony from neighbours says it all. His plan backfired this time he ended up being the victim.
I'm sure he's not resting anything, wicked people don't rest even after death.
