If you intend to take this journey, you are advised to go on the Canadian website for direct information, and then do your own research as much as possible.
You can move to Canada using the different methods below:
As a student: If you study a course that is at least 2 years in duration, you are eligible to get work permit for up to 3years to work in Canada after graduation. Most people use that time to gather Canadian work experience, and then apply for permanent residency via the Canadian experience class.
Federal Skilled Trades Program: For blue collar workers I think.
Canadian Experience Class: to be able to get Permanent residency via this program, you must have at least 12 months of skilled work experience in Canada, with the proper authorization, in the last 3years (before you apply).
Federal Skilled Worker Program/Express Entry: for career people/ skilled labour force outside Canada. To qualify for this program, you must have at least 1 year, full time/30 hrs per week, paid work experience.
Provincial Nomination: From the express entry pool, Provinces and territories also recruit candidates through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to meet their local labour market needs. That is; they list job roles that they need, and those that are currently in that profession, can apply for provincial nomination.
If it turns out you are eligible to immigrate under any of these federal immigration programs:
The profile you will create on the Canadian immigration website will be placed in a pool with the profile of others who are also eligible.
You will be ranked with others using several factors such as your experience, language skill, work skills, education and other factors.
Draws will be carried out, (for express entry, it was at regular intervals, of 2 weeks on Wednesdays last year, but they haven’t really followed that routine this year)
You will get an Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residency(ITA) to a specific program, if you are a top candidate. (That is, if your CRS score is within the number they arrive at after the draw) In these Express Entry draws, candidates above a certain rank are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
You can only apply online for permanent residence when you get ITA. Invited candidates are given 90 days to submit an online application for permanent residence with all their supporting documents included.
I will be giving the steps for Express Entry below, as that is the one I’m currently doing.
1:To be eligible under express entry, you must have at least 1 year continuous, full-time (at least 30 hours of paid work per week) or equivalent part-time work experience in an occupation that is categorized under Canada’s NOC A, B or 0 in the past 10 years. (That is your job experience must fall under those 3 categories)
2. You can then create your profile if you are eligible. Getting into the pool doesn't mean that you will be invited to apply for permanent residence. You'll be invited only if you're among the top ranked in the pool based on your skills and experience. You will be ranked in the Express Entry pool using a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System.
The CRS gives you a score from the information in your profile, including your skills, age(the younger the better) education, language ability, work experience, extra language skill (that is if you can pass the test for both of their official language)
You can stay in the pool for up to 12 months as long as you meet the criteria for one of the federal programs. You should update your profile anytime as your case changes.
If you are not invited to apply for permanent residence within 12 months of submitting an Express Entry profile, you can submit a new profile. If you still meet the criteria, you will re-enter the pool.
Steps to create a profile for Federal Skilled Worker Program/Express Entry
Use the Come to Canada online tool to know if you're eligible for the program. The tool simulates what your projected CRS score will be all things being equal. See link for simulation. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp
If eligible, write the language test. Canada official languages are English and French. You need to meet the language requirement for at least 1 of them, and the language test results must be from a designated agency. Eg(British council, MOD)
Complete an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) through one of the designated agencies, eg (WES, IQAS) if you were educated outside Canada, to show that it is equivalent to a similar Canadian education.
When your test result and ECA come back, then you create an express entry profile and join the pool of candidates., while you wait for to get ITA.
If you get ITA, you can apply for permanent residence. According to IRCC, all complete applications will be processed within 6 months or less.
After you get an Invitation to Apply (ITA), there are other requirements that you must meet before you submit your Permanent Residency application.
Make sure all these things are “gettable” in advance before claiming points for them, as you will have to defend every point you claim with supporting documents.
They are:
-Proof of Funds: You must show that you have enough money to settle in Canada, and you must prove you have access to the money. See required amount below.
Number of Family Members and Funds Required (in Canadian dollars)
1
$12,475
2
$15,531
3
$19,093
4
$23,181
5
$26,292
6
$29,652
7
$33,014
For each additional family member
$3,361
-Medicals: You and all your dependents (whether accompanying or not) MUST undergo a medical test. The medical test must be conducted by a doctor on the list of CIC designated panel physicians.
-Work Reference Letters
-Passports/Travel Documents
-Police Clearance Certificates: Police certificates are mandatory for every country (except Canada) you have spent 6 months or more in a row within the last 10 years since the turning 18. PCC is required for the Principal Applicant, spouse and dependent children 18 years of age or older (including non-accompanying).
For your current country of residence (that is where you are living now), the police certificate must have been issued no more than six months before the submission of the e-APR. For countries in which the applicant no longer resides, the police certificate must have been issued after the last time the applicant lived in that country (that is, the date on the certificate must be after you have left that country, not while you are still there).
This is all I can think of for now.
I hope this helps someone that needs The information.

ReplyDeleteMy sister left through the means few weeks back...
ReplyDeleteI would like to apply, but I am scared of the medicals
ReplyDeleteDon't let fear stop you from trying. Go get tested for whatever ailment you think you have before concluding.
DeleteThanks RD
DeleteWhy are you scared? Is something wrong?
DeleteHi, what are you scared of?
DeleteWhat are your concerns!
DeleteThe medical is basically blood tests, chest x-ray, and physical assessment.
Should in case, you have a really serious medical case, you would need to prove that you have enough funds to take care of yourself in Canada, without using Canadian taxpayer funds.
However, you might just be worrying too much, you can actually go take the tests, before applying,to make you feel better.
No harm in trying.
How about age limit?
ReplyDeleteThe age range on the website is from 17 - 45 years.
DeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteAs if you qualify for any of the categories. Stop littering this post please.
DeleteHe actually qualifies, ooa after your NYSC, you already have the experience and can give it a try.
DeleteI used my NYSC experience, and been in Canada for two years
You can apply with your 1 year NYSC experience, if you can prove that it meets criteria stated by CIC. Most people use it if they need that 1 year to max out on points allocated for work experience.

ReplyDeleteHi, for the purpose of educating the people on this blog on this journey, i will ask that you ask your questions here.

I will also advise that you do research on the internet regarding your questions, if you are not comfortable asking it here.
Thanks for replying. I just wanted to ask how a physiotherapist with a working experience can apply. Please do you have any information on the detailed steps to take to work as a physiotherapist in Canada?
DeleteHi, physiotherapist will follow the process up there.
DeleteBut i think since that is a regulated profession, you should probably check the cic website for more info on this.
Hi!
DeleteI am a Physiotherapist and I understand your concerns.
A Physiotherapist with working experience can apply, and can get into Canada, as a permanent resident, practicing in Canada is another process.
To understand better, go to www.cic.gc.ca, to understand the express entry procedure better, there's a support group on nairaland also.
To practice as a Physiotherapist, once you are in the pool, and have high chances of being chosen, you need to start credentialing with the Canadian alliance of Physiotherapy regulators.
The process is well explained on the website, once you are cleared, you would take the licensing exams in two stages.
However, you need to apply first to become a permanent resident, other steps can follow.
Pls kindly send the like to. My mail pls
DeleteBV Reasonable doubt ..pls can you send me your email.

Bv reasonable doubt, pls when creating a profile for myself and family, do I include my unborn child considering I'll be due later in the year and might have been invited to apply before she's born.
ReplyDeleteNo, you don't need to include the unborn child.
DeleteWhen the child is born, irrespective of the stage you are, you would update the visa office, and you would be directed on how to add your baby to your application.
Bv reasonable doubt, pls when creating a profile for myself and family, do I include my unborn child considering I'll be due later in the year and might have been invited to apply before she's born.
ReplyDeleteWhen creating your profile, you will not include your child since you are still pregnant.
DeleteBut if your child will be born before you get ITA,or after, then you have to account for the child.(That is, the amount (POF)that you will show for your family will increase.
You will also inform IRCC that your family configuration has changed, if you give birth while your application is still being processed.)
This is good. Well done.
ReplyDeleteMy uncle did the express entry as a human resource manager and got 5yrs Canadian visa

DeleteBv reasonabl doubt
ReplyDeleteActually my aunt was invited to Canada for a visit, but for two times now she has been denied visa.
In her passport she made a mistake in her birth year, but the month and day is correct( could that be the cause?)
Then again, the money in her account was not up to 500000. Could it be because of finance?
Hi, i can not advise on visiting Visas, because this is supposed to be a guide for people that are trying to migrate to Canada.
