Buhari's Reaction To Plateau Killings Compared To Obama And Bush Reactions When Tragedy Hit America!

Our African leaders give the impression they want to emulate governance in the western world but when we need them to take a stand, they fumble.

These random killings in Nigeria have gone on for too long and I find it disturbing that the Buhari administration seems to be handling the matter with kid gloves.

The approach and response of a leader in time of a disaster or security crisis says a lot.

Let me take you down memory lane to August 2005 when Hurricane Katrina struck the United States. Former President George W. Bush was heavily criticized for his delayed visit to the Gulf Coast. He was on vacation at the time and the media roasted him for isolating himself. When he eventually visited, he muted all his critics with the empathy he showed the victims.

In 2012 when Superstorm Sandy hit New Jersey, I was a victim of that disaster. It was the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the Atlantic hurricane season. That tragedy was a defining moment for the Obama administration. We saw the humane side of Barack! He was swift to board the Marine One.

Television cameras captured him flying over the Jersey shore with Gov.Chris Christie to obtain a first hand insight to the devastation. It didn’t end there. When Obama met with the victims on ground, there were no hidden emotions.

These two instances may not be the exact scenario we have in Nigeria but a tragedy is a TRAGEDY!

President Muhammadu Buhari’s disposition to these herdsmen killings has been nothing to write home about. It is highly insensitive to show up in a place of mourning with fanfare. I would want to see President Muhammadu Buhari roll up his sleeves and go out there to interact with these victims. Let the people see the humane side of your leadership. Reassure them of the government’s commitment to combat this issue and mean what you say!!

Helpless citizens are being massacred frequently yet no crocodile dance, no lion dance ...nothing. What we keep getting is Press releases upandan. How long are we going to continue like this? This matter must be tackled ruthlessly before things get out of hand across the country.

    2. Agree with the write up. I’m shocked that there was no breaking news today to speak on what happened, a minute silence etc, for the lost lives! The tragedy is too much, yet the country is going about like human lives we’re not lost! Nothing is been said on how we would move on from the said incident occurring again.
I’m so hurt, this is so sad .

  7. Today I watch him make his way to the airport. To say I was shock by the display of high security is an understatement. So he love his life so much. A woman was waving at the convoy n bubu whine down to wave back. I was like huh . Why wave at him in the first place? Me I did not wave. I am not happy with his govt, bc he has been acting like Benue, plateau killings by fulani arm men cannot be curb in time. Stella you need to see how this woman was excited bc bubu wave back. I had to ask the police men ard if the wave increase her bank account. Where was he even going to? Hope he is going Lagos to sympathise with the victims of the tanker explosion.

    1. When I saw that convoy this morning, What came to my mind is that Bubu is going to Lagos to attend another condolence. Bubu how do you sleep at night knowing its only condolence you have been attending since you came to power. Nothing to make the people you rule happy. I cried my eyes out when someone sent a video of that Lagos-Ibadan Express way tanker issue. The sound of that woman and man crying in that video still breaks my heart. God please show us mercy in this country.

  15. Buhari thinks that Nigerians hate him not knowing that all they want is for him stand up to his words,he condemned all the previous administration immediately he came into power promising to bring down heaven on yet, we are yet to see any of these promises rather things keep getting worse on a daily basis, if i didn't have people who are top officials in government,i would have truly believed that people hated you for no just cause. President MB wake up and prove to us the difference between you and the previous administration, Nigerians are no longer mute,we need real change and not fake promises.

  18. Dear BV John, please try to find about the horrors in Benghazi, 9/11 attack, gun violence incidents, e.t.c before comparing the mannerism of how presidents react to tragedy. The ones that console the most are the ones causing more havoc globally.
