Obazele expressed his dissatification in an interview with Punch.
The actor says the reality show has nothing to add to the development of the Nigerian youth other than s#x.
Some housemates in the just concluded 2018 Big Brother Naija reality show were involved in s#xual activity.
The veteran said, “I don’t like Big Brother; why would I celebrate corruption? Do you want to tell me that to become a superstar, you have to be having s#x in toilets? What are they depicting? There are so many reality shows that they can do.
“It is called cultural dislocation, bringing in the white man’s culture into ours. S#x is nothing to them. The most decent woman I have seen in the years of my travelling is the Nigerian woman. S#x is nothing to other African women, this is the truth.
“Why would I bring in a group of young people between the ages of 18 and 26 and make s#x the topic of the day? What did we learn from the show and today, some people are parading themselves as stars. It is nonsense.
“There are so many reality television shows they can do; they can send some people on internships but then they were able to cajole Nigerians who have small minds who think about s#x always and they started sending text messages to vote.
“At the end of the day, they were able to rake in more than N350m. If the organisers of the show made that amount of money, how much is the N25m they are giving the winner, it is a stipend to them. We are gullible.
“Some people would argue that it does not matter because they have warned about viewers’ discretion but that is nonsense. The show is shot in South Africa and to be honest, s#x and drugs are nothing to them. I do not promote things like Big Brother. It is unfortunate that they call them stars.”
*Well everyone has a different mindset to this Reality show...Since it is so widely viewed I think the Organisers should do something positive with it...The last one was a disaster and what happened in the house should not be encouraged again lest it becomes viral....
Stella so you people didn't watch the numerous tasks promoting Nigerian culture??
ReplyDeleteThey housemates created ideas for a banking app in the house.
Created videos and short movies. So much positives.
How bout the payporte weekly tasks that involves puzzles??
Truth is everyone is obsessed with sex. We wouldn't focus in the important things..... smh
Anon, please don't generalize. It maybe YOUR Truth but don't try shoving that 'truth' down everyone's throat. Sex can be nice but it is not food.
DeleteDont mind Paul Obazele and his likes always disturbing our ears with 'Of what use is d program when it isnt in anyway educating bla bla bla'. Thats their own opinion about d program sha but they should as well leave it like that for some of us that enjoy whatever they bring our way bikooo. Its their biz if they were caught in d moment in bam bams voice and decide to sex themselves.
DeleteThe ENTERTAINMENT that comes with d program is just all I cur about. Duuuh!

DeletePlease speak for yourself. I'm not obsessed with sex
DeleteNo mind am. Which kain yeye obsession? Paul Obazele, carry go!
Deletehe should take it or leave it, theyu are STARS. CELEBRITIES....
ReplyDeletepeople look up to them now...
Let them know!they are stars whether we like it or not!most people don't support the immorality but we aren't gonna kill them for that, leave the negative and focus on the positive , the tasks and creativity that they promoted every week. Plus some people are out of the jobless youths category thanks to BBN.
DeleteWho looks up to them? You?
DeleteWho do you look up to? Is it Cecee abi Alex or Anto. Buahahahahahahaha go do your homework jor. all these litter kids playing with daddy's phone.
'People', u say? More like 'airheads' would be looking up to those.
DeleteNonsense. Even pornstars are stars.Blackchyna that is a stripper is she not a star? Star na star whether for good or bad reasons.
ReplyDeleteSo true.... they are not stars at all, all the hype about them is just soooo annoying!
ReplyDeleteNobody calls them stars apart from ignorant Nigerian bloggers. Across the CIVILIZED world they are called former contestants. Simple. What they do after the show will determine their 'stardom'. Being a star is EARNED it is not a dashed title like you find amongst ignorant Nigerians who will worship a dead rabbit so far money is involved.
ReplyDeletePersonally I have no problem with Big Brother, but government should not in any way get involved with it. I cover my face in shame when i see government officials hosting the housemates in their various states, for what exactly? Very shameful!
ReplyDeleteLoolz! Are they not humans too?? U never start..
DeleteWait there make pant wear you like cap. Them go soon unveil Miraku's statue. Alex will soon get appointment. Anto. Dem der dey hustle for Richard card. If you like next year don't go for audition when naira will be 600naira una go wise.
DeleteAnony 12:44, u deserve Nigeria in all her zoological glory!
Deletehmm na wah
ReplyDeletehmm na wah
ReplyDeletethe truth is that everyone with his or her opinion, weather they are stars or not the.show has come and gone and yes I am waiting for the next.one to start. after all they did so many tasks in the game more than sex
ReplyDeleteYou are so lazy and empty, that is why you get so busy watching bbn and cannot spell 'whether'
DeleteHahahaha anon you finish am. Imagine an adult waiting for the next one....smh
DeleteNa dem be d youths wey dey cry say dem wan lead. E dey wait d next one.
DeleteWhat happened in the house has been happening in previous seasons. Just that the camera man this year is such a pervert. We like living in denial. Is either u scrap d show or u let it be on cos they are human beings who will do the normal things they do at home.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand, bbn showcased lots of stuff. Its obvious people watch out for sex scenes only..they had debates, talkshows, tasks, which were entertaining....I'm tired jor , some Nigerians got a weird way of reasoning.
ReplyDeleteHis opinion which he has every right to
ReplyDeleteThey are stars tke it or leave it, only that some stars will continue shining while some will dim.
ReplyDeleteKwakwakwa!!! Is paul a star??? I learnt a lot from the show.
ReplyDeleteIf you watched the programe, you will know they had various competitions, games etc
Please, can you kindly list some of the stuffs you learnt let's learn as well
DeleteIs the show compulsory for everybody to watch? Please leave it for us like that Oga, so for 3 months it was just the sex u took from it? What of the drama and the Friday payport games, the debate and other things that were done in the house? Abeg shift one side
ReplyDeleteNa wa oh. How much sex is promoted in big brother compared to the unity and positive presentation and tasks? People exxergerate these things. No one is forced to watch any channel abeg. There are other religious, sport and entertainment channels.
ReplyDeleteSince we are talking morals, how much moral does nollywood preach?
Come out with a show to promote morality. How many sponsors will one get.
ReplyDeletePeople put their money where their mouth is.
Was channel 198 or 29 the only channels.
Because they will be known more than you, you are annoyed. Take a few seats Oga.
This man should face front Abeg
ReplyDeleteBuhari was right. Nigerian youths are LAZY... especially mentally..and lacking in values.
ReplyDeleteY'all can go ape shit under the comments, but the truth is the truth.
The show is crap. Couldn't even get primetime slots in other countries but Nigerians will celebrate rubbish as long as it's cash based
You that's not lacking in value hope you have never slept with anyone without doing the proper thing since you know value, cause if you have What does that make You? If not a hypocrite. Nobody asked anybody to have sex in the house,BBs camera just caught the action and besides it's a reality show anything can happen
DeleteHis Own Cup of tea, I am a movie producer and I plan with multichoice to make my own reality show, all males/guys.... It's going to be a gayporn kind of show first in Nigeria and I know Nigerians will love and accept it.
ReplyDeletePaul should go let them be
ReplyDeleteJealously!! Paul go and rest. Ur time don pass
ReplyDeleteApparently, it takes so little to become a star. Paul u are SO on point!
ReplyDelete
