Singer Niniola Apologizes To Her Fans For Her Poor Performance At The HEADIES 2018

Singer and performer, Niniola in a series of tweets on her Twitter page has apologized to her fans over her poor performance at the Headies award night.

She also says she forgot she was chewing gum before going on stage

She wrote: “I honestly was not going to address this issue but I was very firmly convinced within me that I owed each and every one of you a detailed explanation on why I had a performance that was far below the usual expectation of my performances.

“I had flown in from Owerri after a performance yesterday (the evening of the Headies), to grace the Award event that has served as a platform for us as entertainers and I unfortunately could not rehearse with the Band or even work on any performance set for the Show.

“I am thankful to everyone that messaged and called to enquire about my performance at the Headies Awards. It shows a clear understanding of the typical nature of my stagecraft.

“I promptly informed the organizers that I would not be performing as I am very particular about my Brand and the performance delivery I give to my friends and supporters that have helped my career to the point that it is today.”

‘’I was informed that the song would be played and dancers would have their set to it. It was however to my greatest surprise that the Host called my name for the performance. Here I was, not dressed for a performance, stunned, dazed and in disarray’’

‘’While on my sit in the hall, I had been chewing gum to keep me awake as I was really exhausted from my prior performance and flight and I had not been able to sleep’’

‘’ In my rush to respond to the unexpected announcement, I totally forgot I had the gum in my mouth and got on stage. I could not spit it out anymore and I thought I’d be able to pull off a performance with it in my mouth.’’

  3. See stupid excuse. U will never hear jlo, ciara, riri, mariah carey, or the other world class artist giving such stupid excuse. Later now they Will want their fans to cherish and have the same respect like the do their other counterpart in the western world. Nonsense it took years of hard work, discipline and dedication for Beyonce to be where she is today. You think there was never a time Beyonce was overstress from traveling around the world performing and pulling off a world class show? You better bow your head in shame and go back to the drawing board or better still quit music and face farming. Nonsense

  5. This excuse seems genuine enough and I think also deserves forgiveness. If what she said is true then the organizers should be blamed

    1. True. I hear you but what I can’t seem to wrap my head around is her saying she never got to rehearse. Did she find out about the show the day of? Hasn’t she known about this performance for some time? And telling the organizers on the day of that she won’t be performing is also unprofessional. If she was booked to be in Owerri first, then why accept to perform at the Headies? Or if she was booked to perform at the Headies first, why accept to go to Owerri as well? It’s just very unprofessional and the apology made it worse in my opinion. But oh well, you live you learn.

  6. Lol. No wonder she said "thanks for the mix up o,ese o". It was so funny

  7. The organisers are to be blamed dear not you. Your outfit? Please fire your Costumiere already. Yuck!

As for the last paragraph, I beg to disagree; once you make a turn you stylishly take gum off your mouth, slip into your dancer's palm amd turn around to continue performance.
Many divas have had their bra slips adjusted insult format.

For the chewing gum? Many climbed stage with bubbling mouth. Simi' s acceptance speech was a turn off.

  8. The most stupid excuse....what stops her from stylishly removing it and putting it at the back of your hand.....WTH

    1. I tire oh.i was surprised to see her dressed in one kain dress with that thick jean jacket she wore. It didn't feel like her though. I just got lost along the line and wasn't feeling her again. As for the gum, she could have conveniently removed it or swallowed it.

    2. Oho help me ask her biko. Very annoying thing.

  9. She just removed -1 from her credibility. You should always get ready every time despite stressed or not

  12. Your voice is one of the best among the female artists Naija has ever had. Our female artists however have terrible work ethic and typically can not hang with their counterparts on any level. You are human, however use this opportunity to ensure you are always camera ready!

  13. Niniola has always put in her best work during her stage perfomances. If I didn't know this about her, maybe I would have criticized her too.
Most of these foreign artistes have had some rough days too.
The blame should be on the people that called her on stage after they agreed she wasn't going to eprform anymore.

That was how they introduced Beverly Osu as Bev Naya.
Showed Tiwa’s name instead of Yemi Alade’s. So many slip ups. They should do better.

  14. I thought I was the only one that noticed her poor performance
