University Of Ibadan Introduces Hiked Emergency Fees Tagged ''Clinical Training Levy''

The University of Ibadan is due to resume for a new session in less than 2 weeks and though there had been rumour of a proposed increase in fees by the school,no one took it serious until yesterday when they released a shocker...

A blog visitor who is in 300 level writes in that these new fees has really distabilised the student......

According to the Doc in the making...

''Last session, school fees alone was #25,000 while accommodation fees was #14,000 and then it increased to #31,150 accommodation fees to #30, 000 and #40,000 for students in the medical hostel.
The major issue now is that all students in college of medicine have been asked to pay 'clinical training levy' ranging from #75, 000 to #100,000. This includes medical students, dental students, nursing, human nutrition, med lab, physiotherapy, physiology, biochemistry.

Their excuse is that 'the federal government is no longer funding us' .

The burning issues are:

1. Why only UI? UI isn't the only school offering these courses and yet it is the only one that wants to impose a levy. Our student union was also suspended last year so I think this is an attempt by the school authorities to impose the fees on us...

2. What about people that cannot afford it? Some of my classmates could not even afford the previous fees and now they have to deal with this increment?

3. Most of the hostels are in a very bad condition. The hostels are overcrowded, bed bug infested with hiccuping light and water supply yet we are asked to pay more.

The students of College of Medicine are rallying around to get the authorities to see things from our perspective but they are adamant.
Please help us put the word out there,it is wrong to do this...''

This is like killing the dreams of many students who are halfway done with their courses

  2. It is only in Nigeria education isnt taken seriously. So because the FG isnt funding the school anymore the students should now do the funding? Have you raised alarm as a school, that FG isn't funding the school anymore? Has there been any peaceful protest regarding this?? That is how you people will keep stealing till there's no money to steal. Rubbish

  7. I graduated from UI medical school over 10years ago and once you get to 300level(point where you cross to clinicals) you pay clinical level so it’s not a new development. When I got admission into UI The student union was dissolved when I got admission into UI 18years ago as well and nobody missed them cos thugs and cultists hide under unionism to carry out nefarious activities

    1. This is not new to me anymore because what I paid as a business business administration student then is higher than a medical student.

You see management coming with different grammar when they are in Aberdeen of money.

I pray God will help any individual, who is in school or about to.

  8. The amounts quoted are low compared to other countries. We need to get to the point where only kids that can't afford it, get lower rates. The government can't afford free uni education

    1. Anon, time will not permit me to put up some words but few will be done.

Don't it twisted, the Nigeria Government has the ability and the capacity to afford free educations.the problem is just that, educational system in this country has been buried along side with sincerity and service to humanity. All we have now is corruption and looting system.

Nigeria is so bless that, no country in the world can do without us. There is funds in this country but the problem is, we keep ♻(recycling) thieves in our political system.

The country is so bad to the extent that, they buy our initiatives with money because they know Hunger is killing us.

  9. University education in Canada is very expensive. People save money to send their kids to university, though primary and secondary are free. That is why government has loans to assist while the students pay back when they start working. Am afraid if governments can do that in Nigeria. We are many and some students after finishing will run away and not pay and may affect the flow of the loans to future students. All the money bring stolen by our politicians could have helped in this type of issue.

  10. Answer to your question is that you are not the only one. Adekunle Ajasin students have been at home for months. Their fee was increased from 20+k to 100k
