Iya Ibeji Series -Negativity On Whatsapp ....

Hmmm.......

I'm in a lot of WhatsApp groups and I'm the admin in some, but there is one thing I have noticed in all of them, so much negativity.

The negatives outweighs the positives. Yes I get daily devotional and other inspiring messages but the negatives outweighs.

My phone saves pictures from WhatsApp straight to my gallery. So you can imagine my dismay when I open my gallery and see these gruesome pictures. And then they mandate you to share.

Let me talk about some of them
- Posts about everything causing cancer.

- Posts about kidney, liver heart failures and diseases.

- Posts about Boko Haram / herdsmen next attack

- post on some christian write up, the write up is usually inspiring but at the end dem go begin dey swear for you if you don't share.

- post about how a woman can save her marriage/ be a perfect wife. Then it will say author by one very popular preacher eg Joyce Meyer ( but people like us that have been listening to Joyce for years knows that she doesn't talk like that)

- Post about kidnappers pretending to be government officials, coming to peoples houses.

-post on gas explosions

- ATM hackers

- modus operandi of armed robbers or kidnappers.

- deadly rain

- plastic fish, rice

I'm not saying most of these are false information I'm saying they are negative information that leads to fear.
Years ago I had this challenge of opening my facebook because of gruesome accident pictures. And pictures of family and friends that died.

I have decided to be an agent of "positive" change, you won't catch me posting negatives on WhatsApp and if I have to post something of negative report I remove the fear factor.

These negatives aside don't you just wondered when your educated and enlighten friends send you some very weird senseless post and also telling you to share. E.g Our current president isn't Buhari, he is some guy from Niger.

There are so many i can talk about but let me give you the opportunity to share the most negative and senseless post you receive on WhatsApp.

*That was how i opened a whatsapp message and the video began playing immediately and they were harvesting someone liver whilst he was still alive,I went into shock and switched off my phone.
Everything you have said up there is true..Most of the things i run away from viewing on the social media comes to my phone to confront me....

  2. Iya Ibeji 👍👍

The one I hate most is the one that starts with "this is Jesus", " send to 12 people for a 12sec blessing".....

That was how someone mistakenly sent nude to our school group.

I've decided not to read BCs again.

Iya Ibeji, there's a way you can stop pictures from downloading directly.

    2. Go to settings. Click on "data and storage usage" you will see "media auto download" with options of "when using mobile data", " when connected on wifi", "when roaming". Open them and "un-click" all the highlighted items " photos, audio, video and document". That's all.

Any picture, video, audio and doc you get henceforth wilk require you download before it's save on your phone.

Martins weldone. This job no easy

  4. That's why I don't join WhatsApp groups and I make it clear to everyone not to add me. If you add me without my consent, I will blast you on the group chat before I exit. Even Facebook too. I value my peace & privacy. Zero patience for nuisance. I hate it when my phone beeps unnecessarily.
The only group chat I belong to is the women's group in my church, and so far, no issues.

  5. Well written iya ibeji. I so hate does WhatsApp post like shit especially those ones that will write "if u know u love God send this to 1million contacts" as if they send data to u.

  7. I so hate those post on WhatsApp ehen. Infact my friend sent me one this morning. I just read the msg and shook my. How can they say Jesus will punish u if u don't share? And if u don't bad luck will follow "them"not me.

The one of video downloading on its own on my phone thank God I have stopped it. Cos my phone is not for me alone. My children play with it a lot. My son can ask questions for Africa. And u must explain very well to him.

  8. Greetings Iya Ibeji. What annoys me most is the one urging you to share. Like my life depends on it.

I hate whatsapp groups. In fact the basic reason I'm on whatsapp is because 90% of my contacts are on whatsapp. I still prefer BBM over and over(Thank you I am archaic like that, after all is it your archaic).

That's how I got invited into a group. I don't know who invited me but a part of me said why not just give it the benefit of the doubt. Day one, no useless posts on the group, just regular chats and inspirational messages. At some point I thought Someone posting prayer points in the group was our very own Pastor Krix via IPhone X. Day 5 someone introduced the group to a Ponzi portal(like MMM). Fast forward to day 8 someone shared a very inspiring story about a woman who sold Garri to see her children through school very inspiring.

I am not the emotional person but that story made my eyes watery/teary. When I got to the end of the story, there was this commanding tone the writer abi sharer used threatening anyone who doesn't share that his mother will start selling Garri and grow from rich to poor. Chai. Such insolence, such rubbish. The beautiful story just turned sour. In fact the group just suddenly became irritating. I immediately found my way to click 'Leave Group'. That ended anything group on whatsapp for me.

that "if you don't share this you will experience 7 years of setback " is the most annoying part.
I once told one person that sent that kind of thing to me that Bill Gates did not share that post before becoming the richest man in the world.
besides, I'm not a fan of inspirational quotes. I always delete it asap. if I see it on this blog, I also jump and pass. who inspirational quotes Epp?

    1. Chike inspirational quotes dey epp oh. One day I was so shook and down, I came on SP and read one of Darasimi's post and it was like she was talking directly to me. Before I could say Boomshakalaka, I was inspired to do better and be better.

      Abi na when you Chike Teflon inspire me not to pray all those kind wahala prayers;
"1. Pray against every marine kingdom disturbing your life
      2. Pray against every spiritual husband or wife.
      3. Pray against every spirit that will rise from the ocean and the seas against you
      4. Pray against every spiritual alter in the marine world against you.
      5. Pray against anyone calling your name in the marine kingdom."

Odogwu Abi you don forget your own words?

That is not inspirational quote. I was ranting about what most pastors/prayer warriors do that I don't like.

  11. ...and when they quarrel in these groups u would pity yourself. Two people will have an issue, instead of them to go n fight on their private pages, they will prefer to litter the group wall with their curses.

  13. You no even mention the unwarranted toasting on whatsapp. Someone called me I said wrong number. Next thing started chatting me on whatsapp. I didn't respond. I will still receive morning dear, good night dear. I just blocked the number. Now this same fool calls me on private no, i later stopped picking any private number.
Now the person has resorted to flashing me at odd hours continuously. 3am even 4am. And I don't believe in switching off my phone. My hubby has even picked once and warned him. Stopped for about a month and continued again.
This has been on-going for a year. Many are mad sha. When the person gets tired one day they will stop.
Who has a life and wakes up at 3am just to disturb someone's sleep. I don't even bother again. I just don't pick any private no or unfamiliar no again.

    1. I have blocked it. You didn't read where I said i did but the person now calls with private number.
If you hide your number(private) you will still be able to call numbers that blocked you.
      You can't block private number.

  15. All the group I'm in are muted for one week, renewable every week. For the one that I'm part of the Admin, we created a group where we strictly state time for chats, you can't drop anything there unless its scheduled.
For those sent by Friends, well I just manage am like that, if I get strength I reply, if I don't, na you sabi.
But I love funny videos sha, I don't complain about them

  16. I don't read inspirational abi motivational quote because I know most times, it will end with a curse"if you do not send...." On top my data I just jump and pass but I like funny videos.
