The governor said this while addressing journalists at the Government House, Owerri, on Saturday. He stressed that the non-challant attitude, exhibited by indigenes of the state to the collection of their PVCs, had made it necessary for the government to adopt certain measures to effect a change.
He said, “The government is going to initiate the policy of ‘operation-show-your-PVC’ before you can enter the market to buy or sell and before you can do business or get anything from the government, and before your child can be admitted into schools. Even before workers receive their salaries from the government, they must show their PVC. We cannot allow the I-don’t-care-attitude of our people towards the exercise to continue unchecked.
The governor further lamented that many Imo indigenes were not showing interest in getting their PVCs which would qualify them to play a key role in electing deserving representatives and leaders of their choice and also enable them to contribute their quota towards strengthening the state. He urged the churches to also help in disseminating the information to their members.

What nonsense measure
ReplyDeleteThis governor is going nuts again.
Nice one.so that it can be used to vote him and his in law out
DeleteNice move.... So they can be equipped to vote your party out.
ReplyDelete#You must be prepared to work always without applause*
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I support him on this move.
ReplyDeleteNigerians complain alot but when it comes to actually taking steps like getting the PVC and actually go out to vote they run away from it.
IF uneducated Northerners can leave their farms and cows at home to go line up under the sun to collect their PVC and vote for people that their Religious leaders have endorsed out of personal greed then Imo state indigenes can as well do the right thing and vote for leaders that they know can better their lives also.
