Huh!!...I dont understand this story at all...
Zuwaira, the petitioner, on Wednesday told the court that Dantsoho, only gave N7, 000 out of the agreed N20,000 dowry prior to their marriage, with a pledge to pay her the outstanding N13, 000 after.
She said the defendant has reneged on the agreement even after the marriage had produced two children.
According to dailypost, the agreement between her and her husband was not written and was never disclosed to her parents.
“I never told my parents that he didn’t pay the complete dowry because I trusted him; unknown to me, he is a man with no integrity”, she told the court.
The petitioner begged the court to dissolve the marriage through `Khul’i, a permission granted wife to initiate divorce in Islam, and pledged to return the N7, 000 as dowry to her husband.
However, the defendant denied the allegation, saying he had since paid his wife the outstanding N13, 000 as dowry.
Dantsoho was made to swear to an oath over his claim.
In his judgement, the Khadi, Malam Dahiru Lawal dissolved the marriage and ordered Zuwaira to return the N20, 000 paid as her dowry.
He said, “following the oath the defendant took, I Dahiru Lawal hereby dissolve the marriage between Musa Dantsoho and Zuwaira Abdulaziz.
“She will return the dowry of N20,000 she received from him.”
*So the Judge did not believe the woman but still went ahead to dissolve the Marriage?I dont Understand this at all...

ReplyDeleteHe believed her o, but because her husband swore the oat, she has to pay the complete money.
ReplyDeleteHaaaa! I don't get it
ReplyDeleteYes the woman need to pay up the twenty thousand naira because she's been staying with the man and he must have spent much more than that on her.
ReplyDeleteThe judgement is fair because she asked for divorce and she got it but can't back her claimed that she only got seven thousand only as her bride price.
I didn't not understand too. She claimed her parent did not know he has not paid, so who received the part bride price in the first place? They are tired of the marriage shikenna.
ReplyDeleteHausa ppl no get chill for divorce oo. Dey can marry and remarry like drinking water. Trust me,that wife will be married this year. No too carry their matter for head oo. Yes, I live in their midst.
ReplyDeleteHusbands pay Bride Price not dowry nah.
ReplyDeleteMay be the man has no business hence the divorce. Them plenty o, they will marry but not working or doing business.
The lady's parents are the ones to pay dowry inform of the properties she brings to the man's house nah...
Wetin I know sef....
The lady dey mean o and she will pack all her dowry/properties leaving the man's house empty. Chain uwa ndi ugwuu.
U see ginger the northern Muslim females collect their bride price by themselves. It's unlike other places
ReplyDeleteIts simple. She claims she collected 7000 naira. The husband claims he paid 20,000 naira but only the husband took an oath. She didnt take d oath. So only his claim would be taken as the truth. Since the type of divorce is khuloi, the wife would have to payback only the dowry nothing else.
ReplyDeleteLolzZ stupid judgement .
