Professor Enwonwu made the painting of the Ife princess in 1973 and 1974, but the painting went missing for many years until it was recently found in a London flat.
The painting of the Yoruba princess by an ethnic Igbo artist became a symbol of national reconciliation at a delicate time in Nigeria’s history.
Congrats. I am sure the family will take their own percentage of it.

ReplyDeleteYes oh! Lots of our pieces are being stolen and claimed to be created by westerners. Some archaeological pieces too were taken during the slave trade era. Very sad.
