GoFundMe Suspends Sahara Reporter's Sowore’s Campaign To Raise $2million Ahead of 2019

The 2019 ambition of Omoyele Sowore suffered setback on Wednesday after GoFundMe suspended his bid to raise $2million towards his ‘Take Back Nigeria Movement’.

According to Premium Times, the Sahara Reporters publisher on Wednesday night said he could not immediately say why the crowdfunding platform suspended his account, but said he would not be discouraged. “I woke up this morning and got an e-mail saying saying they’ve suspended the campaign."

He said the request was most likely due to the popularity that his campaign had garnered from those supporting his presidential ambition online. But the campaign also elicited resentment amongst his antagonists, especially for its apparent success within the early hours of registration. “I think they started reporting us as soon as we opened it and they saw we made $1,000 in one hour."

Mr. Sowore, who lives in New York from where he runs Sahara Reporters, first unveiled his presidential ambition during one of his regular visits to Nigeria last month. "There is no going back!” He said in a Facebook update informing his followers of the development shortly after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.

  5. hahahahaha no wonder, nobody has arrested him. Just wandering where he blogs with all these news. So Mr. Man na new york you dey stay?

Why do you want to take the government back. You were the one that brought them because you were used to achieve a purpose.

If you come in Nigeria, i will arrest you

  6. But this was a silly idea! Who advised him?

You want people to fund your ambition to become president of one of the most populous and wealthy (I believe) nations of the world? Are the funders Nigerians? So if I'm from Switzerland I will come and fund a Nigerian to be President? What does that do for me and my generation? Why can't you come to Nigeria and hold campaigns to gather funding from the people who will benefit from this ambition? If you Like get $10m funding, naija politics is different and it can go down the drain. People should sweat to fund your ego. Just like that one made people die for his own ambition and has now fled.

All these people sitting on high horses abroad and wanting to become president and effect 'change' by mouth. *hiss*

    1. SMH. You are not an intelligent person. It's not your fault tho' it's the government. Read what you've posted all over again, and answer yourself. Go buddy, you are capable of intelligence. :)

  7. Dem plenty from abroad who have presidential and governorship aspirations. I suspect it’s all a ploy to land cushy portfolios for themselves when all the dust settles. 2019 is going to be really interesting!
