This was following the Emir’s planned visit to give a lecture at the Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus on the 15th of March.
The Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey giving reasons for his actions stated that Emir Sanusi’s request to the country was turned down based on diplomatic reasons. According to him, Northern Cyprus is not safe for Royal Highness..
The reason is Also because Northern Cyprus is a non-recognized country therefore not a safe place.”
This stirred up reactions from Nigerian students in Northern Cyprus, querying why a Nigerian Leader would be stopped from visiting Nigerians for academic purposes whereas the Ambassador had kids studying in North Cyprus under a scholarship scheme granted by the university.

I don’t understand. Can an ambassador bar anyone from visiting a country, or did you just advice him not to come?
ReplyDeleteStella you took the words right out of my mouth. Why does it have an ambassador if it is not recognized
ReplyDeleteApparently, Stella is confusing herself or does not follow her own write up. The ambassador is of Turkey, while the entity is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Kindly read before rushing to comment!
DeleteStella, thank you! Politicking in full swing. They are scared, you know the emir can be brutally honest.
ReplyDeleteStella im here wondering thesame thing too. Well na them sabi jare

ReplyDeleteHow many of you know that Taiwan has diplomatic missions in different parts of the world the same way several countries have missions in Taiwan too? Yet it is not a recognized country. Please understand how things are done before you throw comments full of ignorance.
