I ate obe soup with rice very pepperish and wanted to quarrel with my sister for cooking it but I looked around everybody finished their food and asking for more.I decided we will cook it again. Yoruba people una dey try for this obe stew. The stew can kill malaria.

Finally January will soon come and be going.
ReplyDeletePlease bvs I went for my daughter's 6 weeks immunization and the nurses noticed something on her navel. Her navel protrudes,its completely round on all edges and shiny. I don't know how best to describe it more than that. According to the doctor he called it umbilical hernia and that I should come back in 3months time for her to be operated on and corrected (God forbid please)
When she was born,we cleaned her cord normal with methylated spirit and it fell off after 3days and we have been massaging her stomach with warm water.
Please doctors,where did I go wrong here.She keeps wriggling and turning but only cries when the pain is too much. People advised my mum to put one root like that in water and give her to drink to calm her upsetting stomach.mum intends to do it tomorrow.
Please bvs,who has heard of umbilical hernia before and what can I do or am I not doing please

DeleteSweetheart congrats on birth of baby.the hernia is a tiny defect around her navel that allowsss her intestines pussh through to her navel and return back.its risky coss aat some point,the intestines may push through the navel and will not be able to go back.they become stuck there,pain increases,blood supply is cut of to the part that is stuck,infection sets in and death may occur.to avoid this,a surgery is carried out to push the intestines back and seal up the defect through which they pass through.and baby will be just fine.lots of E-hugs..

DeleteThat wriggling and turning happens with most babies. The reason best described by a paed is that when a baby at that age latches on to your nipple, there's every possibility that the baby didn't latch well enough so as he/she is suckling might be taking in some air. The air taken in causes the wriggling.
Now about the navel, if your baby's navel is unnecessarily big then please by all means see a paed. My baby's navel was a bit big at that age so I kept complaining to my mum that I don't like big navel but she assured me it will keep reducing with time. My senior Sis who has three kids came around and when she was bathing her, used a small face towel in hot water and squeezed out the water completely so that what is left in the towel is just the heat.
She pressed the navel at least six times before bathing her.
I tell you with all humility my daughter who never used to sleep so sound slept all night without a sound. We kept doing that until the pains reduced and finally went away, even the size of navel reduced too. I did it till she was about four months. She's four months and two weeks now.
N/B : Squeeze out the hot water entirely from the towel so that when you are pressing water does not spill on her. Press and release at intervals while you rub the navel with your palm.
