Omugwo Chronicles 57

The Omugwo Chronicles continues.....

Happy New year Stella.

Well my omugwo story too long to type but chai I don suffer.

So my Mother came to do omugwo 1st na so we enjoy so tey. You wake up in the morning and food is ready, hubby is even carrying meals to work.

She will bathe n dress baby all I did was to eat, breastfeed and sleep.

Fast forward to when MIL came, this woman insists to spend 6 months as in 6 fucking months, half of a whole year. And intends to do nothing, absolutely nothing.

I was bathing baby, cooking and serving food for MIL (3 square meals) she even came with her own dietary plan. Don't put oil, don't fry this n that on top omugwo o I became the house slave.

The minute I step into the kitchen to cook that's when she will carry baby and make sure she carries baby until i finish so she wont help.

Everyone keeps saying be patient with her but how much can one take? Can you be patient with someone for 6 months? All she does is sleep, eat , carry baby and sleep some more. While me that is sleep deprived don't even have the luxury to nap in the afternoon because I dey kitchen they cook.

Thank God for washing machine o if not I for add wash woman join.

Ps: I had my baby through CS and Stella I was part of 100 and something that testified on your blog

*WOW,so you continued like this for six months?you deserve an award!!!

  2. Must a MIL come after the woman's mum has left? Anyway, I know my MIL is a nice woman and won't try such when the time comes but even at that I can't stay with anyone for 6 months.

I like me sha, I drop my own indirectly for them now sef so they know me already. The other time my MIL mentioned in passing about us taking Hubby's younger cousin when we pack to a new place, I told them there and then I don't need anybody staying with me as I can manage myself. Hubby can pay their school fees if he can and wants but not to live with me.

All these MIL should fear God oooi

  6. My omugwo story is similar...my mil came from beginning cos my mum was not available....she didn’t assist me to press my tummy nor tie it....I went to d market myself & stil came back to cook...I was always tired..she is Yoruba while I’m Igbo....& she was always gossiping about me on the fone.....there was a day my fil came visiting in the morning, she woke me up to go cook for him...when she was seeing him off, she told him that I’m lazy...always sleeping...I just gave birth less than 2 weeks oh...I was so relieved when she left...I endured her...now she has left she is trying to be friends with me....but I decided that for my 2nd baby...I would not allow her come but get a nanny instead....

    1. Hubby was away during my omugwo so I stayed with mil and she is old and couldn't do much she asked her sister to come assist me till 41days but she didnt do much only bathing the baby so I was left to carry him alone during that time I was depressed,I felt like running away, going somewhere I can have some quiet time and sleep, men it wasn't easy ,if not for the love of my husband I don't know what would have become of me. My next baby no mil omugwo cos I no fit shout I will just invite my young aunty to come help me

  8. Some MIL can worry, they prefer to make decisions in the woman's house through their children.

  10. No way for mil during omugwo. Im about to have my 1st baby and husband said his mother will come. No biko. Not when my mother is alive. And bc its obodo oyibo he wants his mama to come. On a normal visit to US she paints her nails face looking for naija meeting to attend in Newyork . i told him its best im alone instead of taking care of an old woman who will take back my gist to naija

    1. Women are just their problems, but when that you son grows and get married, you will want to go to your son's house, after all you trained him from your sweat and you have been his mother and you were always there for him before anyone else.

Lol, you people should continue, it is called Karma, all of you will definitely reap what you sow.

  12. Na wa o. This naija based people do not know how good they have it. I really don't get how husbands watch their mum maltreat thier wife's. As a man, na me do my omugwo o. Despite wifey was not working, I bathed my daughter till wifey was emotionally ready (which was well over 3 months. I did all the house cleaning and cooking for over 2 months. I guess it was not a big deal because I was mentally prepared.

  13. LOL THIS IS MY FIRST TIME HERE BUT AS A MOTHER I QUICKLY PICKED INTEREST, MIL CAN BE VERY ANNOYING, THE WORST PART IS WHEN THEY GIVE YOU THAT VIBE OF YOU WERE NOT THERE WHEN I GAVE BIRTH TO MY SON AND TOOK CARE OF HIM SO YOU HAVE NO SAY AS IF SHE WAS THERE WHEN THEY GAVE BIRTH TO HER OWN HUSBAND. I PRAY I DON'T ACT LIKE THAT TO MY OWN DAUGHTER INLAWS IN FUTURE, I RESPECT PEOPLE'S SPACE
