The Attacks it was gathered began at the weekend.
25 bodies were recovered and given a mass burial on Tuesday when journalists and a media assistant to the governor, Bala Dan Abu, visited the affected area.
Policemen and soldiers are currently patrolling the area.
“Herdsmen are killing people in Lau, my state,” Governor Darius Ishaku told The Nation on telephone Tuesday night.
The death toll has risen to 55, as more bodies were recovered on Wednesday morning by the locals.
The police, however, said the place is calm now.

What a country!...
The problem is that those with power don't even believe there is such thing as herdsmen. They only believe herdsmen retaliate after their cows are vanderlised. It's such a shame. Now that we're glad Bokoharam has subsided, comes herdsmen!
ReplyDeleteWe need to protect ourselves the best way we can now. It's obvious the government has failed us.

ReplyDeleteMazi Chidi that is beginning to look like the way forward. That's how some came into my uncle's land. The land is fenced with a gate. Every time someone is always breaking the gate. So one day, neighbors caught one herdsman breaking the padlocks and called my uncle's brother(as my uncle lives in another state) to come quickly as someone is breaking it again. The man rushed down there. On getting there, he met the herdsman and asked him why he was breaking the padlock. Guess what the goat said? That why will he lock up an empty land when his cows need a place to rest for the night and then he brought out a dagger. My uncle said to him 'so is that why you are breaking it?'The herdsman said yes with authority o.. that his cows must sleep there today whether anybody likes it or not. Hmmmm. Na so my uncle just allow am because if they fight now and maybe people in the area kill the herdsman, his group will come to the community and butcher people and the government will not say anything. So he allowed the herdsman just to avoid trouble. Him and his cows slept there, the next morning they were gone. For another person land ooo! This country is finished.
ReplyDeleteThis APC government is a failed one...just see how the cattle herdsmen' leader spoke today on Channels news I weep for this country
