In an interview with The Net Ng, the Nigerian alternative singer talks about how she lost respect for one of her biggest childhood inspirations, Singer Onyenka Onwenu;
"I was still really new in the industry and I opened the stage for her, I got down and decided to take a picture with her, as soon as I got there she went off on me. She said ‘Don’t touch me’. It was like the worst experience I have had in my life. Everyone was staring at me. I don’t think she knew I opened the show for her’.
I even knelt down to greet her, and she said okay come and take the picture. For a moment, I felt bad, but the good thing about that kind of situation is that it makes you work really hard…I lost my respect for her after that event, I don’t think I would see her and say hello. But It was a long time ago. It is what it is now, I have moved on," she added
*Awwwwww, she was probably under stress.I think Onyeka is a nice person.
Fame can be stressful.. so many people trying to get at you all at the same time. It's not easy sometimes for them
ReplyDeleteJust like than Katehenshaw, funke Bello and her fan video.
DeleteI dunno what it was all about but Kate's response was so rude and arrrghhhh bad!
Dammit mehm!
If I adore you, I don't want to see the bad side. Keep it to yaself.
Kate is a horrible person
DeleteYes Kate is, she actually turned someone down in an event from taking pictures with her.
DeleteShe should go and sit down. Onyeka is not her mates. Somethings are better left unsaid. Onyeka might be having a bad day or her approach towards Onyeka wasn’t nice.
ReplyDeleteWhich one is mate there. Onyeka is very rude and arrogant.
DeleteDoesn't justify the fact that Onyeka's response was embarrasing
DeleteNigerians have started, what has age or seniority got to do with this now, she disrespected her peril!! Onyeka is a veteran in the game so she should know better. And at the time where Aramide is talking about, she a veteran in the game, so she should know better.
DeleteOh my goodness you sound so juvenile! All these so called nigerian celebrities. You should see how humble they are when they come to the United States.
Delete@Sally, God bless you jarre.
Delete@ANONYMOUS ORUBEBE
Most women that have entered menopause are always bitter!..
ReplyDeleteThey are always miserable and sad!...
Queen boss, hmm u too will soon enter menopause o, menopause is no sin haba

DeleteThat must have been damn tooooo embarrassing. Gosh! Under stress or not, she ought not to have behaved like that biko. Shi waye ne?*rme*
ReplyDeleteThank God I am not d type that freak each time I bump into these celebs. I send dem not.
Your head dey there jare. Very embarrassing situation. Haba!
DeleteI guess she was having a bad day and reacted without a second thought.
DeleteI've met Onyeka Onwenu on one or two occasions. She was very warm and friendly. Still have some pics I took with her.
Celebrity or not, we are all humans. Everyday is not a good day. Though how we handle the stress and its effect on our attitude to others matters.
Sandy bebe kedu?
Ok Bloggie and yes, how one handle stress matters a whole lot especially in their own case. Issorai! Ayam fine darlyn. Enjoy your weekend.ππ
DeleteA celebrity that cannot handle stress, is dt one a celebrity?
Delete@Bloglord Onyeka is not warm at allll. A cousin of mine once worked with her as a secretary. She had her office somewhere in GRA Ikeja. I've met on several occasions. I dont want say more but my experience about her was not a good One. Anyway that was in those strugling years. I love her music though!!
DeleteStella, here yourself out, "You think". Not that you know so you can vouch for her Dearie
ReplyDeleteI know onyeka very well. She is the most terrible Nigerian artist i have met. She does not behave her age and is a bad role model for any upcoming artist! Always bitter and feels entitled! Always ready to fight both old and young alike
ReplyDeleteHian!
DeleteNa wa.
Nigeria is becoming really, really tough. In just 2017, I lost my first child due to medical neglect, my husband could not secure a single job order, I haven't been able to collect my results in school due to strike, I dealt with about two medical challenges, I battle depression due to the loss of my child and delay in conception, my job is no longer fulfilling as there is no chance for growth nor significant salary increase even as a graduate, I am surrounded by comfortable people who have not considered to help me even when I request, we have considered to relocate out of Nigeria through study but no enough money, we have also considered getting a foreign job to ease our relocation plans yet nothing is forthcoming. I am not writing this to attract pity but to kindly request you put my family in prayers. I still count God faithful in all circumstances and I trust Him to bring my expectations to pass.
ReplyDeleteIt is well.
DeleteTake heart concerning your child, hold on to God, people hardly help these days, trust in God He will perfect all at his time, maybe start looking for work in nija maybe God wants your breakthrough to be from here
DeleteIt is well with you
DeleteI pray God comes through for you and your family. Stay strong. He is faithful. RIP to your child.
DeleteI am so sorry dear. May God's mercy reach you and prosper you in all facets of your life.
DeleteThe God that can do all things will settle you even in the land of your birth, just believe and always be in the spirit of praise and worship to God. He has done it alreAdy, He knows even before we ask. Cheer up and smile( tight hugs)
DeleteI have met Onyeka Onwenu and I think she's a very nice woman.
ReplyDeleteShe came to my workplace after we had closed for the day and asked to see the manager because the security guys would not allow her in. She was allowed to come in and we treated her like royalty infact everyone came to say hello to her. When she was about leaving, she asked if we wanted to take pictures and we did, I still have the pictures on my phone.
One thing I noticed was that she didn't allow the guys touch her while we took the pictures, she would jokingly say 'wepu aka gi biko'('remove your hand please' in Igbo language) and we all laughed over it but for all the ladies, she was the one that put her hand over our shoulders sef.
So I guess she may have been in a bad mood the day Aramide met her.
π
DeleteThe pictures I have with her, if you see how she held me like I was her baby. Very warm photos.
This one that they will soon teach lesson. You no know your mate abi.
ReplyDeleteNa so Mercy Johnson come movie location for Asaba wan rub shoulder with Patience Ozokwor.
Make you go ask Mercy how may minutes she kneel down before dem forgive am, many women begged Mama G to forgive Mercy.
Una no dey fear. Onyeka Onwenu snubbed you. Do face like rat
@sally jay .don't talk like that now, haba onyeka is not her mate but can she treat her like a daughter. people look up to her. i for one i love and respect her.if what this lady said is true that is really bad . if she were to be a president daughter that came to her will she say don't touch me.
ReplyDelete#When was the last time you did something, outside your comfort zone?*
ReplyDeleteWhich stress? Onyeka is rude in real life abeg. She has this DIVA behaviour to wa very annoying. I've seen her before acting as if every other person at the event was beneath her.
ReplyDeleteHow can you go to an Event if your having a bad day or you're stressed?
Bubble Gum you're right, they humble themselves in the abroad. Maybe Nigerians in the abroad are different from we Nigerians in the Nigeria.
Heard most of these celebs are rude.A celeb should always represent
ReplyDeleteShay @Aramide herself no rude... If an upcoming artist wan relate with her, shay she too no dey form attitude
DeleteNot surprised... An average YORUBA DEMON look for every means to bring another person down... They love sympathy and love to be pitied....
@ANONYMOUS ORUBEBE
This is a very silly comment coming from i pls use ur no 6
DeleteWhat Onyenka did isn't cool but we also don't really know if this lady approached her the right way. That she's the one narrating the story doesn't make her right.
ReplyDeleteO yes... If you walk up to someone without the persons permission and you bring out your "palasa " phone to take selfie.. That is rude.. I am sure that is what she did.
DeleteYou have to notify someone before taking pics with that person, because you don't know what mood the person was at the time you approached the person with your palasa phone
That will not make me buy your CD @Aramide
@ANONYMOUS ORUBEBE
π
DeleteCould she have been having a bad day? A lot of people have given similar account though. She's still a legend.
ReplyDeleteShe once did the same thing to Charles Anazodo who is now a big boy on his own terms.
DeleteIf I were you @ARAMIDE ,I wouldn't have granted this interview or better still, I would have, but I wouldn't have said anything bad about @Onyeka.. But what do you know after all? You are a YORUBA DEMON... you take pleasure in being "noticed "
ReplyDeleteYou yourself, @Aramide, you are one RUDE fellow as well... Your song no even sweet sef.. You go dey shout untop your voice like person wen shit dey catch
@ANONYMOUS ORUBEBE
ππππ.
DeleteOrubebe you sef
Sing your own make we hear. Useless tribalistic biafran. I hate you lots with a passion. With the way we Yorubas accommodate you in our states you still hate us and I hate you too! Motherfuckers
DeleteOrubebe is an idiotic tribalistic bigot, why shouldnt she say something bad when that is what your onyeka did..by the way I'm also Igbo, I just don't support treating someone like trash
DeleteMumu people everywhere, typical Nigerians, u don't read before commenting even you bloglord, I'm disappointed, fools, the lady said after she performed they called her to come take a picture with the onyeka
DeleteLmaoππππ ππ @ your 2nd paragraph. You this Galore can worry no be small. Chai!
DeleteYou this anonymous Orubebe or what do you can yourself, I wonder if any Yoruba man has fuck you before and dump your sorry ass. Sorry sis, what do you expect? You think say them go wife you.π€£π€£π€£
Deleteorubebe is efik. leave biafra out of your shitty mouth
DeleteLets hear Onyeka's side before we jump into conclusionππ
ReplyDeleteMy friend had an encounter with her and she was very arrogant and rude and this is not yoruba o it was in Rivers state ...my friend gave it to her..when different people say same thing about you then check am well
ReplyDeleteIf it is about age, then the older person should behave better, more warming and accommodating. If you are stressed up, try and comport yourself in public, especially if you are a celebrity. By the way, before Aramide's interview I have always heard that Onyeka is rude.
ReplyDelete@anon rubebe ππππ
ReplyDeleteHonestly speaking, i really admire those of you who approach these people and ask to take pictures, i can never do such, it is soooo beneath me. It is such a demeaning thing to do to yourself. I only want to take a picture with God(if that is possible)
ReplyDeleteππππ.
DeleteThis is a disclaimer...please world, the brainless views and thoughtless analysis here do not represent the views of Nigerians. These are a select few, who are often spontaneous in making justifications for the silly and shameless behaviours of some so called 'senior citizens'
ReplyDeleteOh please!!the day i mistakenly stepped on her at the airport,i lost respect for her too!!very rude agbaya.
ReplyDelete@Aramide, keep telling lies to justify your stupid self
Delete@ANONYMOUS ORUBEBE
Na wa for nigerians .if she was an elderly woman without fame would You expect too Much from her. Pls let her be abeg.
DeleteAll those saying Onyeka isn't her mate is laughable. What has age got to do with it? What Onyeka did was very wrong! Nigerians havea way of focusing on the person and not the problem. Onyeka's act was totally condemnable period! Whether you are an ancestor,i don't freaking care! When you do something wrong, I will tell you to your face.
ReplyDeleteOnyeka is as rude as hell! That lady is terrible! If you guys like rant and insult Aramide from now till tomorrow it still doesn't change the fact that she is like that.
Stella, have you met her in person? If no, please keep your thoughts to yourself biko!
People who have met her don't say nice things about her.
Onyeka is RUDE,Am talking from experience. I went to say Hello once and I she look me up and down like get out. Sharp girl I just look her say "ooh sorry I thot you were my madam cos you look like her, anyway bye biyucch" if she answer I for use mouth finish her. After that incident I heard she is like that.i don't respect her at all Shegiya.
ReplyDeleteIb Fiberesima is the best of all of them.I cannot meet any of them for any yeye picture.Mo Abudu is cool too.Who them epp?
ReplyDeleteHaba people how Can You call out a woman of That age .she could be your mother or aunty.pls respect people. This Is not nice.if You have such access to her You tell her offence.
ReplyDeleteOnyeka is plain and downright rude.Ask anybody that works in Women Centre Abuja where she was the DG.It was terrible.Nobody could walk past her corridors, you had to go all the way round the other way.She would embarrass her staff by saying the person has body odour, in front of people.Onyeka's story MD Human relations? No no no
ReplyDeletewhy u sef go wan snap with her without taking permission first? are you mates? who know you sef
ReplyDelete
