The court also awarded the sum of N12.5million as damages in favor of PCN. The presiding judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, issued the order while ruling in a suit on the enforcement of fundamental human rights brought against the Police by PCN.

The Police, on 17 February, invaded the PCN National Headquarters and arrested the National Commandant as well as 49 other officers. The invasion also resulted in an assault on many other officials. As a result, the PCN filed a suit for the enforcement of its fundamental human rights and demanded N2 billion in damages from the Police.
