Former President Jonathan Talks About Being Sober And Reflecting On His Mistakes And Achievements

The Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has said he is under intense pressure to contest in the 2019 presidential Election.

Speaking to Dele Momodu, Goodluck said he is moved to tears, seeing people shout, “GEJ, we want you back”.

When asked if he'll contest in 2019;

He said, “Contest again? No. People come to me every day saying they want me back. I’m always moved to tears whenever I go out and see the huge crowds shouting GEJ, we want you, even in the North. Instead of getting swollen headed, I actually reflect on my achievements and mistakes and feel humbled and feel very sober…I have never been a man of inordinate ambition. I’m a man of very modest means. I hardly travel because of the logistical costs. I’ve played my part and I have moved on".

So there is no way you can ever contest again?”, he answered “I’m not God but I sincerely doubt the possibility”.

Asked what he would do if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gives him its presidential ticket in 2019, he said: “Are you not aware that our party has zoned the presidency to the north, and the chairmanship to the south? Even Fayose that has declared his interest may face big challenges because of the decision of our party.

    1. He rarely travels now because he will have to use his own personal money for travel expenses. People can say whatever with their mouth but that doesn't make it REAL. Emphasized on the real but there are too many ass lickers out there. I like him personally but think he is too weak to govern a country like 9ja. His downfall was contesting in the last election that he lost. He wasted too much money that wasn't really necessary

  2. Good luck always had/has intelligent answers except that some people (choose to) misunderstand him sometimes.. ...

    I love his intelligence and wish we have another like him but he was just too soft and that caused him a whole lot.

    I don't want him to come back but I want a tougher version of him.

    1. No, people didn’t misunderstand him. He was just shallow and wasn’t ready for a momentous task like presidency of a country like Naija. Was it because they misunderstood him that his wife stole millions of dollars? Or him signing and giving go-ahead to misuse of public funds?

    2. People misunderstood his answers/statements. Just the way you misunderstood my comment.

      In the stealing, people did what they wanted and that was the weakness I refered to. Him being too soft

  3. This man didn’t sleep on the right side of the bed. Even if things are that bad, we don’t want any GEJ again please. You failed us with the mandate we entrusted you with. Tell your wife to pay us back the millions of dollars she stole from our tax money. And the hotels she built with them. GEJ, don’t deceive yourself because of the hypocrites coming to deceive you. Don’t come and be disgraced again. You broke the record of being the only incumbent ever defeated in Nigerian election. Bye bye

  10. GEJ is a nice man but made a weak leader. He will forever be remembered as The Weak King, maybe second only to Shehu Shagari.... I like him though. Wish I had an uncle like him, very easy going.
