Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has said tricycle operators (Keke driver) in Imo State will cease to operate in designated parts of Owerri, the State Capital as from Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
According to him, Keke operators would no longer be expected to operate along the major roads of Douglas, Wetheral, Bank Road, Orlu Road and other designated roads. Only taxis will now be operating in the Capital City.
He stated this while sharing about 2000 Passat Wagon Vehicles to Keke drivers to enable them comply with the directive. Balloting was conducted at the Hero’s Square for the beneficiaries to emerge.
Okorocha further said the second batch of beneficiaries will get theirs in October while the third batch will have theirs own in December 2017.
Addressing the Keke Operators, Okorocha said, “Few years ago when the Keke people gave me a very resounding support, I promised you people that I will change you from three legged to four legged and for that reason, today marks the beginning of movement from tricycle to full car.
For purpose of clarity this is government empowerment scheme to empower the masses, to reduce pain in your families and to bring comfort. Keke has served us well in Imo State and I want to thank you all for serving us well but as Imo State is developing and getting better with good roads and a lot of infrastructural developments, Keke can no longer be the appropriate means of transport within the Owerri City, this is why we are moving from Keke to a full car.

Oh dear! This man is on a bad mission in that state. And to think his people loved, welcomed and voted for him then.
ReplyDeleteOkay read well...he didn't just ban in all the state...it's just for Owerri towns
DeleteWetheral
Bank road
Douglas etc
And he said he is giving 2000 taxis to some ...so it's not that bad
DeleteHow's he on a bad mission?
DeleteFunny how you guys hate positive change in and around you.
Rochas is actually giving the cars to the keke drivers on a higher purchase and not for free as he is claiming here.
DeleteHe is actually forcing It on them
And because those cars are his personal business, he now wants to force all keke people to buy it.
Most of these Keke drivers are poor
He now wants to put them off business as he has done to traders at the EKE Ukwu Owerri market by force
IMO State especially Owerri is in Disarray since last week in every aspect
If you have anyone living in Owerri, whether brother, sister, relative or friend, you can call them now to ask what Rochas is doing and committing in Owerri these few days.
It’s Horrible
Only God knows the nature of his punishment
Since he demolished the market Owerri people don’t sleep at night anymore….
Rochas brought militants from ohaji Egbema to fight for him against the Owerri indigenes so that he will take their market…. and since then, the people are fighting with these tugs every night and the Government seems not to care….
He wants to use those same people during election….. but God will not allow him.
After giving them gun, how can he get those guns back from them? They will start using those guns given to them by the government to terrorize the people
He is doing all these because he knows it’s his final days in IMO State.
Imolites will still survive him..
Looks to me like he is out to punish Owerri residents.. Deliberately.
DeleteRocha's okoro ndi Hausa has come again
ReplyDeleteThis man is just a confused swine, watch how transportation will be expensive as the taxi guys will charge more from passengers and make things more expensive for people, he just comes out with a law and induce it on people immediately without notice or planning well, apc should forget ino state in 2019, they can never win they have lost it.
ReplyDeleteYou guys don't like change in your life, you just like to be stagnant and be complaining about everything.
DeleteSo you want keke to remain permanent as a mean of transport?
If he banned keke without any alternative, you guys will still cry. Change is the constant thing in life, embrace it.
For your information the keke people are waiting for u to come out again, u will so loose, na your matter dem carry for head.
ReplyDeleteCome out for what exactly? This is his last tenure na in Imo state so he can do and undo.
DeleteHmmmmn. Oko
ReplyDeleteHmmmmn. Ok o
ReplyDeleteHmmm.
ReplyDeleteFrom no Okada to no Keke. Nice move, but the second and third batches should not be mere talk. Ka anyi na-ele anya.
ReplyDeleteThis man is unbelievable like what suddenly came over him?😕 Keke that has been epping and saving lives in that town. Who full car epp? Too badt!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to those that benefitted from the empowerment
ReplyDeleteSaw d news, is too costly. One million 4 each vehicle
ReplyDeleteCan you find 1million car to buy in the shop? How long can a keke of 550,000 last for compared to a car. Bunch of mediocres that will never appreciate anything good. I don't care how bad this man may have been cos I don't know but when you see a good gesture, reason with your brain and appreciate it or waka pass
DeleteDon't worry sweetheart, my prayer for you is that you find yourself in this condition not your relative oh! You, so you can appreciate Rochas more. Amen!
DeleteI'm sure there's a lie in here somewhere. No be Rochas again
ReplyDeleteThank you Eka, we the imolites know this man well, his cunny cunny ways
DeleteWeldon Rochas sir.
ReplyDeleteThank you his excellency.
ReplyDeleteBut keke is ok too na
ReplyDeleteHow is it okay? So cos you're used to suffering that makes suffering okay
DeleteThis man doesn't sit down and think most times, now robbery ,kidnapping will be much, fare nko?very high ofcourse, We know Rochas this is not free, ask the keke guys well, Rochas na mouth the man get, beloved you don't know Rochas we know him well.he is a liar.
ReplyDeletei tink this is d only gud tin this man has done so far...me for one i dnt like the way keke is d only major means of trans in Owerri, the keke and their operators have become a huge nuisance in that city and it does not show any sign of development for Imo people.the way they cause huge traffic bcos of their reckless driving drove me insane wen i visited there for hols. but rochas shld mek sure this new development dosent affect the Imolites negatively thats my own.
ReplyDeleteBee watch hoe traffic will increase in owerri, the kekes had a way of findung their way out and moving fast, now with so many cars, traffic will be so much, robbery too
Delete@beebumble, you didn't add that they are so rude and charge so high. The money I spend on transportation in owerri for a day is what I will likely spend for a week here in uyo. I detest Rochas a lot Buh this he did is very welcoming. It's long overdue. More so, it's just for designated areas and not for the whole city. I like that he has humbled all this keke drivers
DeleteWhat license will the keke riders drive with? I hope the accident rate doesn't go up. How do you give cars to keke riders?
