of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu risk imprisonment if he fails to appear
in court on adjourned date.
Following a ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja granting Kanu
bail on April 25, Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District,
Enyinnaya Abaribe, signed the bond for release of the IPOB leader.
With his next court hearing coming up in October, the IPOB leader has
not been heard from or seen after a combined team of security
operatives invaded his house in Umuahia, the Abia State capital on
September 14.
Commenting on the effect of Kanu’s failure to appear in court,
President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Prosecution, Okoi
Obono-Obla said the court could issue a warrant of arrest for the IPOB
leader.
Obono-Obla said, “The Federal Government has already filed a motion to
set aside the bail of Kanu.
“Following the military exercise carried out in Umuahia, Abia State
and the subsequent proscription of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has not been seen
and may have gone underground.
“So it is not likely that he will appear in court on the next
adjourned day for fear of being arrested by the police or security
agencies. Kanu had sureties that entered into recognizance or signed
bail bonds as ordered by the court that led to his release.
“The court shall order his bond entered by his sureties to pay the
penalty or to show sufficient cause why the penalty should not be
paid.
“It follows that Kanu’s three sureties will be ordered to pay N100
million each. Where sufficient cause is not shown by the sureties or
the persons bound and the penalty is not paid, the court may recover
the penalty from the person bound or from his estate if he is dead, in
the manner laid down in the Administration of Criminal Justice Act,
2015 for the recovery of fine.

ReplyDeleteKanu don disappear. He should come and answer present. Foolish man
ReplyDeleteHe is alive but hiding now that reality has stared him in the face. A number of his supporters are in prison, people died, massive destruction, businesses disrupted.
ReplyDeleteWhat was achieved at the end of the day?
Kanu led people to their death by going about things the wrong way. He just didn't have the strategy, no be by gra gra.
Anyway, 100 million is not so much.
I pity d sureties already. Issorai!

ReplyDeleteIPOB supporters, use your tongue and count your teeth, some are six feet below now, others are maimed and hospitalized, some are about to have their bonds called in, is this really the wise and right way for self actualization? Na question I ask oh!!!
ooo boy . See how this people dey call money like say na paper . Kontinue . God dey
ReplyDeleteI know fit laugh..
ReplyDeleteWhy is he hidding? I thought he his fearless
ReplyDeleteHe had better come out from his hiding
ReplyDeleteAn adage says "He who lives to fight, fights another day".
ReplyDeleteAnother says, A true warrior is known during the course of war.
Guess this is what you get with so called activists in Nigeria. When the tension is high, they disappear. No one will say anything against a peaceful protest and agitation for self actualisation but once you threaten the sovereignty of a state, then you have called for war. Well let the man come out of his hiding and prove he can freely walk the roads and streets of Umuahia as he has previously done harrasing men in uniform in the name of being a messiah.
The sureties have no problems with the fines but i hope and pray they can produce him and he can defend his course and prove his desires and agitations for secession in court which he might be lucky to be heard.

They should detain them till kanu is found.
