Coffee
The dark, delicious and stimulating coffee bean is believed by many coffee experts to have originated from East Africa, where it was first grown sometime in the 14th century. It then made its way to Northern Africa in the 1600s before spreading to other parts of the world.
Sugar
Sugar actually came from New Guinea before making its way to foreign lands like America via the Middle East more than 12,000 years ago. It is believed that in the attempt of the Arabs to conquer Southern Africa, they spread sugar throughout the region, which eventually made its way to Spain and became popular in Europe and the rest of the western world.
Rice
While rice is able to be grown quite well on foreign non-African soil, African slaves are the ones credited with teaching foreigners (Americans to be precise) how to properly irrigate a rice field and thus grow rice.
Curry
This is one of the most widespread spices in the world and though it is largely identified with the Asians, its origin can be traced to Africa from the time of early railway construction to Uganda, when the British imported a lot of Indians who came to Africa with curries.

Very good to know
ReplyDelete✔✔✔✔
ReplyDeleteCoffee originated from Ethiopia to be precise.
ReplyDeleteNope it's Burundi
DeleteIt's a lie it's from Yugoslavia
DeleteAnons clear Road 🙋
DeleteI think it should be Kenya...They have the best Coffee beans ever 😁😁
The curry write up is proof of foolishness on the part of whoever wrote it. Curries did not originate in Africa. The folks who brought Curry's were the gujarati Indians who are known for emigrating the world over. They came from the part of India called Gujarat in India. They came with their spices which they brought from India where Curry's came from. At least know some basic history before you post some trash.
ReplyDeleteIt's not trash my dear. The plant which is called Turmeric is massively grown in Africa although mostly used by Indians n Jamaicans. Yorubas call it Ata ile or ginger pupa. The writer is funny tho cos most pple kn these things are from Africa.
DeleteIt is yeah.. curry has been in existence in India for millenniums... Some stuff you can argue, others no case. It may have been called jack all in Yoruba land, but that doesn't mean it started there i.e the meal called curry.
DeleteIf this Argument was about Garlic I will give it to The Indians 😁😁
DeleteMy dear I surprise too cause I have read about curry leave on google before besides I also read it is very medicinal
DeleteCurry leaves also grow like weed in Benue state.People who know it use it. Others prefer d powder for market. We have things in Africa but because we are not known with them, people assume they are not natural to us. Sad when u don't know who u are. Makes it easy for anyone to make a fool of you
DeleteWrong argument at anonymous 04:45. Just because you have curry leaves in Benue etc does not mean we invented damn curry. Show me one curry meal in Africa you know. The write up is contradictory because it states it was the Indians who went to Uganda who ate it there. The Indians who went to Uganda took it there. You probably don't know one jack about Indian history and like in a myopic world where Nigeria is this big nation who rules the world... Curry did not originate in any Africa. Curry leaves may be in Africa but guess what you have curry leaves all over the world but the actual meal itself was started by Indians.
DeleteHere is scientific proof to even back it up from the BBC write up on where did curry originate from..
Scientists believe they may have found evidence of a 4,000-year-old "proto-curry" in India's ancient Indus Valley civilisation.
Traces of cooked ginger and turmeric (which remain in use in curries such as lamb vindaloo today) were found in starch grains in human teeth and a cooking pot found in the ancient town of Farmana, west of Delhi by anthropologists.

Here are write ups from wiki etc. Nigerians are just dumb as they blindly follow without doing no research.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curry?wprov=sfla1
Quote: Curry (, plural curries) is an umbrella term referring to a number of dishes originating in the cuisine of the Indian subcontinent.
Stella please approve this for the purpose of enlightening our fellow Nigerians. A lot of them are highly ignorant in many topics. They love arguments and another mumu wouod come here and say there is curry leaf in Delta state or somewhere. We are talking of well documented cases which form a thesis or argument.
Good
ReplyDeleteWhy you angry though? Shyt, take your meds.
ReplyDeletePlease add watermelon and okra to the list.
ReplyDeleteHow will we know when we will not develop our own to sustain our people but will greedily be selling it to foriegners at foolish prices.
I understand we now import maize. I hope one day our children will not see it as foreign food too
Maize only? .... My dear Nigeria imports everything!!!

Asians (Indians) actually imported curry to Uganda.
ReplyDeleteNope. Indians got it when they started coming to that area centuries ago. Read about trade between Buganda empire, India and Arabs. Yumeric and other spices were traded from the African side. The others took it home
DeleteGood to know
ReplyDeleteAfrica is so blessed, I wonder how it turned out this way
ReplyDeleteNoted
ReplyDeleteRice from Africa? Whatever happened to Asia? Rice is a culture for them and research points out this. I actually did research on rice after reading "Shogun". Would have associated curry with India sha. Lemme research about it.
