Elder statesman and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Frank Kokori has called on the federal government of Nigeria to split the nation into 12 states.
According to him, equity and justice could only be achieved if the country returned to 12 states – six for each of southern and northern Nigeria – as it was during the regime of General Yakubu Gowon.
Kokori called for the convocation of a round table discussion with genuine people from all sectors and sections of the country on restructuring.
He said, “National Assembly cannot do anything for proper restructuring of Nigeria.”
The elder statesman told Tribune that each of the six states should be autonomous, saying the current 36-state structure is not viable. That Gowon’s 12 states will move Nigeria forward. Let them decentralized Nigeria like Gowon did.
He also slammed the National Assembly for recently thrashing the outcome of the National Conference held by the Goodluck Jonathan administration, admitting that the recommendations were suitable for the country.
The issue of how Nigeria should be governed should not be the business of the National Assembly because it is an interested party; it will not like anybody to whittle down their power, so to me, it should be the people themselves.
We should not just sweep it under the carpet; it’s a serious matter, the president himself should be seeing signals now, so we should come together for dialogue and talk seriously about Nigeria,” he warned.

Okay Right now I am tired of being a Nigerian...everyday new dimension of chaos 👁
ReplyDeleteIf the FG split the 36 states we have now to 12 states there will still be problem because one particular tribe will look for every possible mean to remain in power. Corruption will still continue there will be no different, so instead of splitting the 36 states to 12 states let divide the country for peace to reign.
ReplyDeleteIs simple 36 ➗ 12 = 3 which simply means divide Nigeria into 3country. Nowwww. Biafra, Arewa & oduduwa republic. Kapish each Republic with 12 states
DeleteThere is nothing like 12 states! Let us peacefully separate and go our separate ways. We are NOT ONE and we can NEVER BE ONE!!
ReplyDeleteUnity is not by force.. pharoh let my people go
DeleteAnakogheri!!!
ReplyDeleteWill returning back to the twelve states stop corruption 😮😲 and hardship in Nigeria
ReplyDeleteYes, Eg : Abuja is too far to over seen anambra issue & pay allocations, is better anambra pay tax to Abuja by managing every of their resources,
DeleteDissolve the Senate! Dissolve the house! Murder the Legislators, excuse my French! Dissolve the legislators! Go back to 3 Regions! Put an hausa man in the Eastern region, a Yoruba man in the Northern region and lgbo man in Western region to govern these regions! Anyone who embezzles the money meant for his region, Let the region deal with the individual period! PHCN, NNPC, etc should be privatised but regulated by the govt. Each region will be asked to use their resources to fund their region!
ReplyDeleteCorruption will still exist! The best is get that voodoo priest from Kenya, build a house made for gods and let all manner of evil and diseases be found there, then make any politician who wants to serve the nation, enter the house! Anyone who enters and comes out alive will govern but he who enters and doesn't come out will be" Sa a rah!
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahahahahahahahaha. My stomach ohahahhahahahahahahahqhqhhahahahahahahah
DeleteThe best thing that can happen to this country is what kokoigi suggested.each region will be independent. We will be United state is nigeria Luke d U.S, power should be taken way from the federal
ReplyDeleteSimple but Hausa Fulani people will rather die than allow that happen so is better each of the 3 merged country that makes up Nigeria to divide either by independent region or Republic.
