Actor Yemi Blaq's View On Actresses And Domestic Violence

Nollywood Actor Yemi Blaq has waded into the issue of domestic violence that has destroyed the homes and happiness of many Nigerian thespians.

Giving advice to actresses who find themselves in such unpleasant situation, Blaq said the only solution is for the victim is to take a walk. He said;

“Domestic violence can be identified early. Once you see that a man possesses that trait, just take a walk. Don’t bear it or try to change him, it might get worse.

“Well, people would ask ‘what if the actresses are the ones instigating the violence?’ Yes, we all know women are prone to such things that could provoke a man to raise his hands on them. Most times, it’s not easy to swallow but that’s not an excuse at all. A man should always be a man and know where to draw the line. Be responsible and take a walk from that situation too.”
When Blaq was reminded of the widely-held impression that Nigerian actresses are prone to infidelity, the soft-spoken movie star disagreed with such assumption

I don’t know a group of people called celebrities. But I know that as an individual, one can be prone to all sorts of things. I think being in front of the camera, be it as a singer or actor exposes you to all sorts of things. You know what I mean? But it all depends on what you want for your life and how you want it to go.

As an actor, I have found myself in some compromising situations, but it’s not necessarily about me being an actor. Every other person or persons can as well find him or herself in such a dilemma too, the main issue is how you deal with it afterwards; how you handle the situation and walk away.

For me, I always act differently in all of such situations, because they are not alike. I majorly put on my trainers and walk away as fast as I can.”
On how he deals with some excessively stubborn fans that wouldn’t let him be at public places, the actor maintained that he is always equal to the task.

At some point, stubbornness is a good trait in human beings and I am also a stubborn person, so I know how to handle those kind of female fans when they come my way,” he stated.

  2. No matter how provoked you are, no matter how rude she/he is to you, just take a walk.don't lift those hands..
And ladies should watch out for tell tale signs when dating too, even though some people are good at hiding their true colours.but in some cases there are Lil signs you can pick up, esp if you are the intuitive kind.
If you go out with your partner and he is rude to people, and uses insulting words on them, e.g you go to a restaurant to dine with him, and the waitress mistakenly mix the orders up, if he flares up at her using rude terms, chances are, he is an abusive person.
A man that can't keep his cool in the public, surely can't do that in private.
And like Yemi said, you can't change people.cos if you foolishly stay back, taking in the pummelling while hoping and praying he would change, not knowing its not his first rodeo, you might not live to tell your tale.

    2. Y'all think just walking away is as easy as it sounds, i'm a man, so trust me when i say it takes alot of willpower to leave a heated scene when ure pushed beyond ur tolerance level... ive never raised my hands to strike a lady & dont condone it but ive been there, & i understood how easy it is to cross the "self control line" and venture into the "Domestic violence path".
I applaud the MAN to that whore that cheats without remorse, & gives unecessary power to Kunle to degrade & spit on her marital status, even going as far as dictating when she shld fuck her husband, i could only imagine the disturbing sexual submissions while theyre behind closed doors, she'd literally bend over backwards to gulp his sperm, just to please him, & yet deny the rightful man her nude, thats the peak of blending a mans ego, he definitely will be struck with momentary madness & shouldnt be held accountable for his actions right there n then... Domestic violence comes in diffrent forms, not just the physical alterations & assault, if u ask me that tramp struck the 1st blow below his belt & to his ego, yet he was man enough to take a walk, i hail him.

    3. North, most men have a sleeping beast deep within, theyre not really hiding their violent nature, theyve just not been disturbed to wake up the beast in them.... some beasts sleep deeper than others, & require a loud gong & vibration to wake it up... others are light sleepers & wake up at the sound of a faint door bell, for y'all that pray, pray to end up with a beast thats in coma.

  3. Wonderful insight from a well informed and mature mind. Not all these "women should control their tongue" drivel from you know who. Walk away or use your own tongue, there's absolutely no excuse for domestic violence be it on a woman or a man. No matter how deadly his/her tongue is, walk away. Do not give anyone power over you, what she/he says is her/his opinion, do not let it dictate who you are. When you ignore a rant, it hurts the ranger more than a beating, so ignore.

  5. Domestic Violence is everywhere, most people just hide it too well. Was applauding my dad on never raising his hands on my mum after years of marriage. Weeks later, mum opened a can of worms and I even saw it myself. I am just so scared of marriage. Hmm!
