One quick question that has been on my mind.....Is Custard a dried version of Akamu?
I consider this an ideal breakfast when combined with Bean cakes or Moin moin.....I plan on the custard and will add the bean cakes from my imagination..lol
What are you having?Balanced meal or combined orisirisi?lol
Those of you who swallow in the mornings, repent now!..lol
Back home I used to LOOOOVE hot uncooked eba and Okro sauce for breakfast....or fried eggs and plantain,Omo forget this Coffee and bread brouhaha i now take every morning!
Enjoy your Breakfast or Mid morning snack.

How about fruits for breakfast? It's filling but with less calories instead of just water. If I try just water, I'll be like a walking dead throughout the day.

The conventional custard is made from corn starch.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I had custard was in the boarding school.
Every Saturday morning, we'd dissolve our custard powder with water in a bowl, and run down to the refectory, then line up and wait for the matrons to bring us hot water to make it.
Sometimes after waiting for so long at the queue, before it gets to your turn the hot water is finished.very frustrating.I used to wonder then why hot water had to be a luxury for us since we were banned from having any form of cooking equipment.
Ahhh..memories!
Freshly prepared oha soup with enough cow leg.I'm thinking of using EBA or semo to wack it!
ReplyDeleteLife too sweet!
Sexydaddy,I thought you said you will stop eating cowmeat bcos of the video you watched?
DeleteEnjoy your oha soup, its my favorite soup too.
Sexy daddy one of these days, all the cows who's legs you've eaten will line up and wait for you at your doorstep with one leg each. Then once you emerge from your house they'll demand you just eat the 2nd leg altogether at once so you'll accomplish your mission by making them 'legless' 😂😂😂. Just riwacha Cow leg inu?
DeleteIntelligentsia princess darling the Fulani mumu sperm no reach the cow leg now abi?Lol
DeleteLoolz! Your love for this oha soup though! Enjoy jare, life too sweet no be lie.

Custard! Dunno why I just can't it, no matter the amount of milk and sugar added. I'd rather invest them on pap. Pap over custy any day and time.
ReplyDeleteRice, beans and stew noni.
Pap is better. I never add sugar to my custard, just milk.
DeleteSame here,I hate custard eeh!
DeleteOh...see my ppl.
DeleteCustard isnt my friend atall
My love for Hollandia custard is none negotiable. My love for custard grew to its peak when I was in school, pap is not always available and I added custard to my provisions. Since then, no turning back
Delete*Larry was here*
I've not even tasted it before. I prefer my akamu smell
DeleteThe only way I can take custard is Pre mixed with some sugar and then most importantly, with lots of milk. I don't mix the milk in oh, just scoop bits of the custard with the milk. That's the only way I can take custard

ReplyDeleteI took custard with muesli and milk! First time trying it and it was superb.
ReplyDeleteNo, custard is not the dried version of pap.
Though its made from corn but, there is vanilla added to it.
Fresh pap is healthier.

DeleteTea and bread with Akra on my mind the weather is too cold here, custard is way too expensive mbok🙈
ReplyDeleteThere are very cheap ones out there like those Hollandia products. I hate custard with a passion and there's a story behind it.
DeleteSomeone gave me this thing, we call it ochicha in Igbo but I want to know the English name. It comes in a giant pod and the edible part when extracted is usually white or yellow depending on the specie, its sweet and cruchy with a red seed.

ReplyDeleteHad two eggs fried in 1 teaspoon of butter, one apple and green tea with 1/2 lime. Lunch will be one chicken breast cooked in 1 teaspoon of butter dinner will be plain oats. Started dieting on Monday. Operation weight must come down. I have lost 4kg so far. Goal is to lose 18 kg by September. Wish me luck
ReplyDeletePlain oats, recommend any that's not fattening. I donno if the oats I just finished yesterday is making me add weight or something else?
DeleteHot amala+ ogbono,fïsh, ponmo, crayfish
ReplyDeleteMy neighbor got akara for us, I made pap,the weather here is so cold.breakie was on point.Stella ,I think custard is d dry form of akamu,na corn dem dey take make am too.
ReplyDeleteBoiled corn and pear
ReplyDeleteCustard is dry white starch extracted from maize and processed by adding artificial flavours, salt, sugar and yellow colouring. Only difference it is dry, akamu is wet. Na d same Mama born dem.
ReplyDeletePeople don't like it because of the aroma from the Sunset Yellow Colouring they add. The aroma for some is uhhhhhh!
You can buy the pinkish Gold's Strawberry Flavored Custard in White plastic bucket. It's like taking creamy ice cream. I make home made Akamu myself but I still stock buckets of custard, there are visitors you don't serve Akamu. Hahaha.
And some of my kids prefer custard. So we're good.
Amanda Favour...saw your question last weekend. Yes Limca drinks are still available. Same content. The company had management issues and Coca Cola bought them over(check the bottle cover). I substitute anytime I'm missing my Emene palm wine, I pour them into a big jug, chill and drink away but I've received my Obilidike aka na ani on Thursday afternoon. So bye to Limca for now.
Happy weekend people.
