Life is all about service to God and Humanity, and the Antipodes of service is self-centeredness.
2 Tim. 3:1-2 states clearly; "For in the last days, perilous times will come: For men will be LOVERS OF THEMSELVES.."!
Looking at the world today; All we see is a wide spread of guns, drugs, economic downturns, business monopolies, fanatics in the Middle East, failures, road rage, poverty, increased violence, etc!
These disasters mentioned above can well be traced to selfishness and greed! 2Tim. 3:1-2 therefore reveals that the real cause of perilous times is "flawed character", not dire circumstances!
Nothing survives without service!
In the world of business, it's not the company that provides job security, it is the customers that do! If customers are well SERVED, they come back; if not they don't. And if they don't, the company will fold, thus jobs will be lost!
Building the church is God's great project on earth.
When you join a church, you must realise that you have become a member of a house, not a hotel!
Rather than expecting to be served as in a hotel, you are expected to take up a serving role to help build, grow and maintain the house.
The self-centeredness in this generation is so much on the upsurge that all people pray is for God to bless them, but never pray for God to use them to be a blessing to others!
Friend, in what way are you helping God's Kingdom agenda?Jesus cursed the fig tree to wither and die because the tree looked healthy with fresh leaves, yet produced no fruit to eat! So, the tree served no purpose, yet occupied space!
Anything that does not SERVE a purpose attracts a curse!
