Things The Senate Requires Of Acting President Osinbajo

What does the Senate want from Osinbajo, and what is the real bone of contention? The Nigerian Senate posted some requirements via its official Twitter handle. Below are some of them:

1. The Senate should suspend all issues relating to the confirmation of nominees from the executive on issue of confirmation as contained in constitution until the laws of the federation is adhered to.

2. Acting President must respect the constitution and laws enacted by the National Assembly as relating to the confirmation of nominees.

3. The Acting President should respect the rejection of nominees by the Senate.

4. Senator Marafa Kabir added that the Acting President must withdraw his statement saying the Senate doesn't have the power to confirm nominees.

  1. The Senate wants the executive to relieve magu of his duties since he has been rejected twice, but they are still keeping him. That is the bone of contention.

  4. the constitution is the "grund norm". where there is a situation like this that pertains to the appointment of the EFCC boss. the constitutional provision remains supreme. its not a matter of choice. Dr. Saraki

  7. Right from the start, these hooligans have never respected Osibanjo. Let me hear that they can make such demands from bubu.... Osibanjo is or was a SAN, so he much have been very objective before coming to such conclusion. This is exactly the same way these scalawag politicians are also trying to intimidate Fashola. BTW... I'm not Yoruba

  9. Saraki nursing his presidential ambition. Well I don't blame him. Someone that should be dead by now from offences associated with corruption. Why won't he be bold to rubbish the acting president when we are in a lawless nation.

    1. Honestly, from people that know Saraki, they say if You See a 🐍 snake and you see Saraki, it is better you kill Saraki than the snake that he is that crafty.

  10. Osinbajo should know that this is the time he needs more allies than foes. To recant his earlier stance wouldn't change his name or reduce his height because to be sincere he misyarn.
This is the time to proof that he's a good and grounded politician, and show that he could handle the situation. The north only want him to make one slip and he's push aside.
I pray God guide him to make use of this opportunity to show that he's politically savvy and try to keep the wheel of government moving
