Miracle Baby Was Born Looking Like The Size Of A Coke Can

A little girl born at an Oklahoma City hospital is a living miracle.

SHE WAS BORN LOOKING THIS SMALL

Emily's mother, Melanie Hollins, was diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure and end-stage kidney failure. With her kidneys functioning at only 15 percent, she was going through the approval process to be placed on the kidney transplant list when she found out she was pregnant.

Little Emily was born on Feb. 8, three months early. She weighed just 12 ounces when she was born.

“It was scary. She was about the size of a Coke can. She didn’t even look like a doll, she was too small. I couldn’t believe something so tiny could still have 10 fingers and 10 toes,” Emily’s mother, Melanie Hollins, said. “I cried every day for the first two weeks.”

Doctors said Emily’s body was extremely underdeveloped. She wasn’t able to breathe on her own and she couldn’t physically take a bottle until she was three months old. Nurses had to feed her through a tube to keep her alive.

Miraculously, doctors said Emily never required any of the surgeries premature babies typically have to endure, and while they won’t know for sure until she is much older, it does not appear that she has any residual effects.

Emily holds the distinction of being the smallest surviving baby born at Integris Baptist Medical Center. She spent about five months in the hospital, and was finally able to go home on July 14 with her family.

  5. Lol they're freaking out? Someone better show them Yoruba babies. The herbs they take shrinks the size of the baby in the womb.I actually admire those tiny sized babies. Easy delivery, no stress on the mom.
