Ohanaeze Ndigbo Says ''We Are Not Backing Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB,We Want Restructuring

Igbo socio-political group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has distanced itself from the agitation for secession by Nnamdi Kanu and his group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ohanaeze Ndigbo insisted that restructuring of Nigeria was the solution to the political and economic problems, not break up.

Ohanaeze Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Chuks Ibegbu, said this in a chat with newsmen in Abuja on Monday.

Ibegbu stated that what the body wants is a country that has a level playing field for all sections of the country.

His words: “A Nigeria that gives each part of the country a sense of belonging. For example, in a country of 36 states, the South-East has five states and 95 local governments; while Kano State alone has 44 local governments.

“The other time, we saw the statistics of recruitment in the Department of State Services with Katsina State alone having 51 allocations. Yet, we have the Federal Character Commission.

“We want the FCC to investigate the recent recruitment in the DSS. Abia State got only six allocations; Enugu State, six; Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, got 51 slots.’’

Ibegbu said that there was no level playing ground in Nigeria, stressing that Abia State alone produces more graduates than 10 states in the North combined, “yet you gave them only seven opportunities and gave Katsina 51.

“We are not saying Nigeria should be divided, but the issues these young men are talking about should be addressed. Instead, it seems they want people like Nnamdi Kanu to shut up without addressing the issues, judging by the bail conditions they gave him.”

    1. Where in the world do you have equal playing field. Just name one multiethnic, multicultural nation where you have equal playing field. The three major ethnic groups, Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo dominate everything in our federation and they are the cry babies shouting maginalisation. The minorities are neglected, suppressed. Yet you idiots will not stop making noise. Hausas, yorubas and igbos are the problems of our nation. If this so called majority tribes can deal with their bruised egos and hide their foolishness Nigeria will be a great nation. Ehimare

That's why they keep wanting the president to be a hausa muslim so they can contine to have control... Unfair #igbo lives matter

  5. GBO(S),YORUBA(S) AND HAUSA(S)...
    Some Igbo want Biafra
Some youths and elders in the North wants Igbo to leave North.
The Igbos are saying"we have investments in your areas and cannot leave them"
And not all of them supported Biafra. Some Hausa said Igbo should not go but stay.
The poor Hausa man is riding Okada, Keke, cleaning shoes and doing a security job.
The poor Igbo man is riding Okada,Keke,a petty trader and a low income earner.
The poor Yoruba man is riding Okada,a petty trader and a worker they owe his salary.
The poor Hausa man sleeps under the bridge as Alamajiri and unsure of his future.
The poor Yoruba man sleeps under the bridge as Alaye and not sure when to have the next meal.
The poor Igbo man sleeps under the bridge as Ofeke, hoping one day to be rich and excel in life.
It is pertinent to note that the poor from all ethnic groups in Nigeria have everything in common and so is the rich.
Do not allow the agitation of an Igbo man who lives in UK or USA for Biafra to cause the killings of the Igbo on the street of Kaduna,Kano or Katsina
Do not allow the Alhaji whose children are living abroad to persuade you to go and start killing on the street of Imo, Calabar or Abia
The problem in the country is not the agitation of any ethnic group but the unity of the elite and the disunity of the masses.
How many times have you taken your agitation to question your local government Chairmen and your state governors?
Why have you not asked your Governors through agitation how they spent bailout fund, security votes and billions in monthly allocations?
Why have you not agitated against that government official whose mansions you go to beg for help and the kids live like kings and queens?
    Sad to note;
    All the Governors love themselves
All the past Presidents love themselves
    All the senators love themselves
All the top government officials love themselves
All the looters love and protect themselves
Why can't you and I love ourselves?
Why cant we combine efforts and fight them?
Why do we fight ourselves and kill ourselves?
Why do we allow them the freedom we don't have?
Remember,a good Nigeria is better than a good Arewa,Oduduwa or Biafra.
Love of one's tribe is not bad, but if that love is followed by hatred for other tribes, then it's wrong and sinful!!!

This is what the igbos have been sayinf. This is what birthed the idea of biafra. This is why people are going up and down shouting biafra or death because they felt the federal government has refused to accept restructuring of the government. Words from arewa didn't reset any brain

Atleast if you are going to be a tribalistic person, don't do it while basking in ignorance

But restructuring of the government is needed. Nigeria is a great country. See the way they came thru for the late police man. And it was championed by a yoruba man. I have yoruba friends and believe me, I know an intelligent yoruba person is wise and not as foolish as the comments I see people leaving here..
