What she didn't know was that one of those kids who was the biological child of her friend had sickle cell and had just a year to live; the other two are adopted.
Life does not have a universal measuring tool so create yours and use it.
Looking at people and comparing yourself with them will not make you better. If you knew the sort of load the chameleon carried you wouldn't ask why it takes those gentle strides.
Be grateful to the Almighty for what you've got.

Title: My Lord and my God!
Today our eyes are turned to Thomas. This man who like most of the other disciples had gone away from the group after the death of Jesus. Once He hoped that Jesus would save his people. And then He died. Once he hoped that no one could harm the Lord and he saw him hang helplessly on the cross and die.
Before you blame this man for doubting try putting yourself in his situation. Have you tried believing God for something in the past and things turned out badly against all your expectations? Have you prayed earnestly for a loved one to survive and yet saw him or her die? Have you once trusted someone with all your heart and then they rent your heart in many pieces? Well I am sure you can imagine other examples.
Thomas was a serious-minded person. He trusted with his whole heart. He believed that Jesus would never ever disappoint him. So he left everything and followed Jesus around for three whole years up until the moment of His arrest. Thomas was a broken man. He didn't have a heart to be broken again. Hopefully you can now understand his reaction when he came in that evening and the others told him they had seen the risen Lord.
Jesus surely understood Thomas. He always understands us. Jesus understood that Thomas might have doubted but it was because he was broken. God never kicks us when we are down. Instead He bends down to us and picks us up. That's exactly what He did for Thomas. Eight days later, Jesus comes back just because of Thomas. God can do amazing things just for us. If you were the only person on earth Jesus would still have come to save you. Remember the parable of lost sheep?
This of course, is often not a treatment we deserve. Far from it. It's a treatment of favor entirely emanating from Gods mercy. If
God took account of our sins and failures none of us would survive. Yet in His mercy God shows us repeatedly where He wants us to place our hands, namely: in His alms so He can heal us, and on His side so He can lead us. That's why we never lose hope; because we know when we are down in doubt, He takes our hands in His, and leads us on. When we understand what this truly means we cannot but exclaim like Thomas: My Lord and my God!
May His Divine Mercy be a pillar of strength&support for you and your family!

ReplyDeleteSo, I am a bit exhausted. My choir cord's wife delivered a girl and the lot fell on me to sleep over. She had a c.s and so can't move. In between working on my lappie and feeding the baby via syringe every two hours (feeding bottles were forbidden), I am fit to say I am a new mother πππππ. Very exhausted though and sleepy, I am dreading today. Will miss church, dash home to brush and bathe and then resume motherhood duties till real mother is strong enough. God bless all mothers and fathers.

DeleteYesterday's wedding that I attended was beautiful. I ate and took plenty home for me and my son lols. All I have to do is to just warm the food, no need to be looking for money to buy crayfish and other ingredient. God is good.
