President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, April 19, ordered the suspension of Lawal and Oke over the allegation of corruption in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East, PINE, and the discovery of $50 million in an Ikoyi, Lagos, apartment respectively.
A member of the House of Representatives representing Ivo/Ohazara/Onicha Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, Linus Okorie, told the president to summon the same political will in suspending Magu. Also reacting to the suspension, House Committee Chairman on Health Services, Rep Chike John Okafor, said it shows that nobody, no matter how highly placed, will be spared in the ongoing anti-corruption fight.
The President on Wednesday set up a probe panel comprising of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno to thoroughly investigate the separate issues concerning Lawal and Oke.
