      Sorry Tekno .
      Acid reflux, the heart burn and belching non-stop is killing 😢 had that early 2015. Was placed on drugs for 14 days, my doctor told me to avoid fried, spicy and oily foods, beans, carbonated drinks, eggs, remain small e for tell me to avoid sex🙆🏻.
      I was having HSE training at their center, and I couldn't eat all those yummy jollof rice and chicken they served during lunch break.....Long throat wan kill me .

      Nah that one dey carry you go America? Well maybe he need a vacation too, doctor prolly told him to stay away from Folake, Diana, Monica and others 😀

      Run a test to check if yours was caused by a stomach bacteria( H. pylori) same bacteria that causes ulcer. They could place you on antibiotics for 14 days. Hopefully, it will kill the bacteria then you can deal with symptoms like heart burn and belching by using antacids and limit your intake of fried, oily foods and carbonated drinks.
      You will be fine ....Ndo 😘

    He doesn't need to travel abroad to treat GERD/GORD
    The 'abroad' he's going will certainly not end it because it is a stomach acid thing, all he needs to do is some lifestyle modification- lose weight, don't eat late, cut out spicy foods, use of antacids etc.
    Except if there are other reasons to do further sophisticated tests in the abroad.

    Wow! so people go abroad just to treat GERD? seems like we've completely lost faith in our health system.There are very competent doctors here in Nigeria! so much for NMA law that forbids hospital adverts(who even made the law?!) cos people are not even aware,indeed my people perish for lack of knowledge.

    Nigerians and always running abroad for treatment. I treated this in 2014, it's very uncomfortable but goes with time once you follow doctors orders on things you should stay away from especially food that trigger it.
    Anyway, get well soon Tekno. Hopefully you wouldn't need surgery.

    Yes GERD can get very bad, that it might surgery in cases where stomach acid has eroded the esophagus greatly (this is painful ). In fact these people are afraid of food, ...might explain the boy's skinny physique.
    There might be cases where the eosophageal sphincter does not close, it might also be surgically corrected. More so, some stomachs produces excessive acid which needs to be controlled meticulously by iv proton pump inhibitors.

    GERD can/may lead to esophageal cancer if not taken care of in its early stages.

    Then do not blame the boy and his family for going abroad. Just imagine how somebody's young and vibrant daughter just died from a surgery to remove a ruptured appendix in Lagos.

    Gerd is a serious disease.I almost died,just recovering now.I lost 10kg weight within two months and i tried all sorts of drugs.I dont blame the guy for travelling abroad,i pray that he will be healed completely in jesus name.Having heartburn for days and months is not a joke.
